Regardless if Xavier connects the dots between Wolverine's memories and the name Jean, he's unlikely to try and control Jean after everything he went through with Mystique. Xavier in X3 said that the Phoenix would manifest itself in training sessions when she was a teenager. It seems like something they'll have to deal with.

You mean the same guy who could look into his own future and speak to his future self through Logan's mind? I'm sure he saw plenty more than what we were shown. Plus Logan later tells Charles her name.

I remember Hank referring to her as Ororo, but it's weird especially if you depict or hint at Wolverine and Ororo as dating but he only calls her as Storm to the Professor

She was called something like "AAAAAHHHHH OROROBOROUS GRANT MORISSON X-MEN SAVANT HANNIBAL BBBBBBBBRROOOOOOOOCK LEZNAR" by Hank McCoy in X-Men 3, but since that was maligned by, for the first time since Blade 3, fanboys and casual viewers alike everywhere, who cares?

Yeah and Rogue. No one calls her Marie. She's always just been Rogue other than when she first introduced herself to Logan and when she told him to call her Marie in X3.

And then there's Kitty. Who's always Kitty and Shadowcat has never been used.

Notably, a different Colossus than the one from the X-Men movies, and the studio is clearly aiming to phase out the original cast, so I'm not sure where you expect to see Kitty.

I think the Phoenix will be brought up but it will be resolved. The whole reason Phoenix manifested the way it did was because Professor X put blocks on Jean when she was young to contain her power. In this new timeline he has seen what becomes of the future but also has learnt not to try and control someone for example with Mystique. He won't make the same mistake. So I don't think we will get full blown Phoenix but we will get a Jean who Charles helps control and use her powers to the best of her ability without it controlling her.

Or we know that Jean is Professor Xavier's most prized pupil and even from that leaked footage we have a great sense of their dynamic already. If he's taken by Apocalypse that part of Jean might come out to help save him and from there he helps her control the power.

Professor X saw Jean going crazy and Logan had to kill her. But the point is Charles won't try and hide Jean away. He tried that with Mystique and look what happened. His whole arc in DoFP was to not control Mystique. He tried and it kept failing. He had to leave the future in her hand and it was his guidance that drove her to do the right thing. He won't try and control Jean now. He will teach her, lead her and guide her. If he were to do that all over again it was a waste of his development.

Yup we already had an out of control Jean in X3, now it's time to see what the opposite is like. i do want to see those Prof and Jean training sessions dealing with the phoenix subconscious.

Yeah but notably a CGI one. A recast was also expected if Colossus was gonna get a bigger role, that happened to Shadowcat in X3.
