The Official Stupid Question Thread: Marvel Edition

I actually can't stand Punisher until he's OUT of Max territory. His old 90's stuff was pretty good but then I stopped caring when he went out of continuity. Then he came back and it was okay, but Remender's run has been phenominal. I wish I could afford to still collect it.

Slott I believe had got them back together, but Millar simply ignored it and had him hooking up with some chick. As it stands now, we don't really know.

I'm sure Millar's will be the version that sticks. Ben and Johnny are headed to Nu World or whatever that stupid planet Millar created is called right now to relax and bag chicks.

Meh,... Ben Grim: PIMP.

Does anyone know if Brunnhilde ever reclaimed her position as leader of the Valkyries? The Tales of Asgard backup in Thor #310 has her ignoring a royal summons from Odin to rally the Valkyries to retake Valhalla from Hela, so Odin ousts her and places Valtrauta, another Valkyrie, in command. Did Brunnhilde ever reclaim her position, or has she just been an Asgardian goddess wandering about Earth ever since?

I believe she reclaimed her spot when she reclaimed her rightful body. After Barbara Norris' body died and her soul got trapped by the Enchantress.

Doc Strange, Spider-Man, Beast, and maybe someone I'm missing, all went to get her soul back from Amora.

When she got back in her body she regained her full strength. It was awesome.

Anywho she had a tearful reunion with Odin.

That is if I have my timeline right.

Was she ever actually placed back in command of the Valkyries, though? 'Cause it seemed like only Odin has the power to determine who leads them in this Tales of Asgard story; and it takes place in the present, so it's not like it's an archaic thing that might've changed over time.

After reading I'm going with no. Maybe it happened during the New Defenders. Time to read some more.

Aw, poor Brunnhilde. Then again, neglect ain't so bad when you consider all the crap he's done to Thor in that millennium. ;)

Where's that from? Defenders?

This is when Defenders was at the height of their power. Right after Hell On Earth and still kicking ass. Devil-Slayer starts to shine after this and Beast has some great stuff with the Doc and Wonder-Man.

Just get 'em all. Vol. 1 is GREATNESS!!!

One thing at a time. Gotta finish Thor first. Although, given that I've made it through about half his series in a few weeks, I'd say I'll be onto other stuff pretty quickly.

Eh so is Marvel seriously making the mainstream Punisher into a Terminator robot since the aging character is getting too old. This way they can ensure Punisher is in best health and whatnot forever?

Don't know if it's because he's getting too "old". I just think they want to do something "different" with the character, even if it is turning him into a "Deathlok" for a while. I wouldn't have minded him going out the way he did in The List Oneshot and certainly didn't see that coming. But I'm anxiously awaiting round two with Frank and Daken, but I don't think we'll be seeing that for quit a while. I think they'll have him mack his new found Terminator'ness in some other way, then start harassing Osbourne again later.

And I still don't think Daken is that tough... :yay:

Iron Fist's title "The Immortal Iron Fist" was 'put on hiatus' and we don't know what's going to become of it for the time being. I recommend reading it though, it's awesome.

In its place there is a mini called "Immortal Weapons" that is coming out, issue 4 (of 5) just hit this week. It focuses on the Immortal Weapon characters who debuted in the second arc of Immortal Iron Fist and made appearances throughout the rest of the series. There is a small story continuing through these minis as a backup story that stars Iron Fist, so at least that's something.

Iron Fist also stared in the most recent issue of Thunderbolts. It was the Thunderbolts's title, but it might as well have been a comic staring Iron Fist and Luke Cage... they were THAT prominant in it. And it was really good.

So that's some stuff you can look into. All of it is good, though the Immortal Weapons mini has been a little hit and miss per issue.

Thanks a lot, mate.

I know very little about earlier Quasar, since I've only read about 3 issues of his old series, but I think his main nemesis was Maelstrom. Usually, though, he just fought a string of random cosmic baddies.

Yeah Maelstrom's Quasar's nemesis, but it's not like Captain America/Red Skull or Batman/Joker.

I use to collect Quasar and you are right Corp. He doesn't have any main baddie set in stone but he did tangle with Maelstrom 3 times at least. But the way it happened, like it was kind of random, even though they had history.

Well, Maelstrom's back as a servant of Oblivion now. Maybe when Quasar comes back as well, DnA will make them more arch-enemy-ish.

In Wizard #212, they updated their 100 greatest graphic novels of all time, and DC's New Frontier was number one. Can anyone find the full list of 100 comics that they had? I keep finding their old list online, with Maus being #1; but, that's from 2004, I think. Please, please, anyone who can find this, it would greatly be appreciated.

For the old folks among us: Were the '80s a crossover-heavy time? I'm not talking necessarily about big events, but just characters appearing in other characters' comics.
