The Official Suicide Squad Rotten Tomatoes Thread - Part 1

****ing loved the movie. Loved the Joker and Harley. Was a ton of fun. These Critics are ****ing insane.

Lol at those that say the critics are too harsh on this. Um.....No. this movie is a clear disappointment. Judging by the trailers. This should of been Avengers, GOTG tier.and it ended up being Fantastic 4, Xmen last stand tier. It fails on a cinematic level in multiple ways. Yes there is entertainment to be had. But you have to lower your standards of quality to ignore it's cinematic failings.

Hey man, screw the critics! I don't care what they say!

*spends the next 24 hours caring about what critics say*

I usually side with the critics.

So I'll go in with low expectations.

Either way, Harley is getting unanimous praise, so that's a plus.

Huge plus for me since she'd make my top 25 comic book characters.

I'm a little surprised its score is so low. I didn't think it was anything special and might be the only cbm of the year that I don't buy on blu-ray, but I thought it should be in the 50-60's range.

Yea I thought 50s or 60s would be more fair. Still rotten, but not a true abortion.

I think a lot of people are forgetting RT is simply a like/dislike rating. 50/100 or 60/100 isn't an aggregate score of the movies quality. Critics will notice when a movie is "technically" unsound and will chop it up with an axe. This movie is all over the place and the critics ripped it a new one. It's like the 4th grade writing teacher grading papers. She looks for certain points, themes, thesis statement, etc. before jumping into the meat of the work. You screw up on any of the basics and you get a big fat "F" and she moves onto the next student's paper, not even bothering to go into a detailed study of your writing. The critics may have been entertained like us comic book movie fans but give it the big fat F for obvious reasons......

I think everyone needs to remember that RT is a compilation of movie critics and not comic book fans. Most of these critics are looking for technical aspects as well as emotional. Most could care less that it's the SS on the screen. When you have a choppy film like this, the technical flaws stand out, hence the score is lower than most of us comic book fans would give it.

Rotten Tomatoes lost all credibility with me after this latest screwup

The way they nitpick certain films only to gloss over or ignore the flaws of others is really tiresome.

I'm never going to bother looking at that website again. If I want to watch a movie I'll just watch it. Critics didnt have this type of power 20, even 10 years ago

Yet another example of someone who doesn't understand how RT works. :whatever:

The don't nitpick anything. They ask their reviewers whether they would recommend the movie or not. That is where the percentage comes from. Then it's up to you to actually read the reviews from the bloggers/critics.

Good Lawd.........31 out of 34 films? Look at some of the crappy films on this list.

Good lawd.

I think its fair to say 2016 has not been the best summer of movies ever, such a waste of potential when I see that list. Seeing Sqwad today and I shall go in with the obligatory open mind but damn seeing it below Warcarft, TMNT & Independence day is alarming it has to be said at least its rating is higher than them so it gives me something to hang on to, kind of...........

why is bvs not on that list

Edit . Doesn't include march

Here's hoping that 2017 fairs better.

Please notice the average score too, then. It's higher than the three films above it yet it's more "rotten".

Its a small example of certain films getting a 'pass' when others dont. I could get into specifics but its not really worth my time

Rotten Tomatoes has already jumped the shark, its just a matter of time

No it hasn't.

Right now on that list SS is 31 out of 34 based on RT score and if it was ranked based on average rating, it would be 27/28 out of 34. Is 3 or 4 spots really that much better?
