How about Jared Padalecki as Superman?

My friend, where and when you saw that I said that Daniel Cudmore is a good actor???
I said he is much more SuperMAN than Cavill and has the best look so far for the role.
I never said he is a good actor or better than Cavill...who´s much more SuperBOY than Superman!
Henry Cavill for Superman??? HELL NO.DEFINATELY NO!
Neither him neither Welling...they are SuperBOYS not SuperMEN.
SuperMEN=Christopher Reeve,Brandon Routh,Daniel Cudmore,Harmon Walsh. See?!

So if you don't think he's a good actor, why suggest him?

You could post a bunch of photos of dudes from a bodybuilding competition and probably find 10 guys who look like SuperMEN and it doesn't mean any of them could play the part.

So in other words, you're saying that you'd rather have a crappy actor who looks like your vision of Superman over someone with actual talent. No thanks.

I am experimenting with some different ways to make the forum better for all. This casting thread is getting a little long in the tooth and needs to be closed soon. So I will be reopening another one soon with some "new rules".

I have an eerie feeling this guy will be someone WB screentests, he's got the right type of resume, height at 6'5 and is American;

He dyed his hair dark for a recent movie:

Chris Reeves hand approved him as the next superman before he died, by acting with him, Tom is just being an A-hole about being type cast, which he already is anyway

Tom Welling shouldn't be Superman for the very same reasons that Brandon Routh, Gerard Christopher, John Newton, and Dean Cain shouldn't be Superman. Nolan's Superman isn't going to be Smallville: The Movie and casting Welling as a completely new Superman is just confusing.

Whoever takes up the role should be someone who has never played as Superman.

Not "should be". "Is going to be". I can guarantee it. Any hope that Welling or Routh would reprise their roles on the big screen is FALSE hope. Sorry guys. We need to get over it now.

Well yeah, you're right on "is going to be", but not only is it going to be, it should be. It's flat out stupid to have Brandon Routh or Tom Welling play two completely different Superman characters.

I can't believe I've been here so long to be a voice of reason.

Please no more Routh/Welling stuff. Let's move on folks.

Btw Hammer doesn't look THAT bad for the role, but I think Walsh has him edged out right now from the new names list.

I also liked Sam Heughan for the role.

Would like to see more recent pics of him though.

Yeah. Lookswise maybe, but acting-wise Hammer has the type of resume they're looking for.

It's unfortunate but it seems very unlikely that we're getting a complete unknown like Routh this time around, from what I've heard. They want someone who's a lesser known but still has a decent resume of TV/Film.

We may not get someone with the traditional Superman look this time around, though I have faith Nolan will make sure it's someone good.

Basically WB wants someone with a good acting background who doesn't necessarily need to look like Superman BUT can be made to look like Superman (unfortunately names like Scott Porter will be mentioned). IMO Hammer is the most workable lookswise of those actors.

This is the opposite of Routh who pretty much looks like Superman on and offscreen, but never had much going acting-wise.

I did as well, but Robinov and Co. want an American as Superman 100%. Superman is the All American hero apparently. Nolan is a traditionalist as well and knows Supes is the All American hero. We're going to get an American actor.

Yeah, I guess I phrased it wrong. They shouldn't be the new Supes and they aren't going to be. For people to keep throwing their names out there like they're legitimate choices is like me saying "Hey, you know who Sony should cast in the Spider-Man reboot? Tobey Maguire! Or better yet! Nicholas Hammond!!!"

LOL! :woot:

I would love if we are actually casting mode by end of this yr/early next yr. I really do want to see some real names testing. So we can see where we are actually going for this time.

Has anyone of importance ever actually come out and say that?

Travis Milne. He's on some upcoming show called Rookie Blue. I haven't seen him act yet, but I thought he has a potentially good Superman look. He is also American...North American anyway (he's from Canada).

His resume isn't extensive, but so long as he can act I'm good.

He kind of looks like David Boreanaz a little, i think.

Thats funny rite thar. :awesome:

this place is probably going to be crazy to we finally have some real names we know are being tested or are looking to be tested.

I've never been under any illusions that Welling has ever had realistic shout at the role since perhaps the Ratner/McG days, while at the same been kinda rooting for him to get the role on the big screen..

However that being said, when you look at the circumstances for Ryan Reynolds & the Green Lantern/Deadpool characters & also perhaps a better example considering both are Marval characters, Chris Evans & the Captain America/Human Torch role(s) is it really out of the question that Welling or Routh could get at the very least an audition? I don't think it is when you take those other 2 actors & the 4 different comic characters they'll have/be portraying in different movies into consideration.

Highly unlikely - Yes.
Out of the question? - Not in my opinion.

Until someone has actually been officially cast or ANY actor, not just Welling or Routh, have been ruled out by someone that actually matters ie Christopher Nolan, someone from WB, someone from DC or the new director (if not Christopher Nolan) then as far as I am concerned everyone is still in with a shout. From Nicolas Cage to Josh Hartnett to Brenden Fraiser & to every single other actor that has been connected with the role to the death..
