Adam Gregory for Superman (Clark Kent) in the Superman Reboot. He's been in a few episodes of 90210 as well as the movie 17 Again. He is only 22 years old, but is 6 ft 2, has blue eyes, black hair and a good Superman-ish face. I know he looks a little young for Superman, but by the time time they get the Superman Reboot off the groumd he'll look old enough to play Superman. Here's his imdb page: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2791615/

I'm hoping we don't have to wait THAT long.

Even though he's young, they could write the reboot for feature a younger Superman in Metropolis..

Like the Ultimates-styled new DC Superman line, a 22 year old Year One Supes:

But I don't necessarily think that would go over well with audiences who thought Routh looked way too young.

Bulk this kid up & give him a suit already. Very Supermanly looking guy. He has got everything except build going for him. Can he act?

Steve

I really like this choice, something new and fresh. He is muscular already he just needs to bulk up the way Taylor Lautner did. He has a good look for young supes though and the right height. nice choice

He looks much more "bulked up" in this link:

He only works well for a young superman. Don't pretend he's older than he is, it wouldn't come off. I prefer they cast someone closer to 30 like they did with Green Lantern, it would hopefully ensure that we get Superman instead of Superboy. this kid does have the right look though.

How about Mathew Bomer?

He's a good actor, looks like the character, was McG's first choice for his Superman project and actually played Superman in a TV commercial.

He'd be a good choice.

From a look stand point, Gregory is an awesome choice imo. I just need to see if this guy can act.

Robbie Amell is my choice for a young Supes/Origin reboot.

Man of Tomorrow, who is the artists in that Supes pic you posted?

Bomer could have been a great Supes/Clark Kent. But that will never happen.

What audiences thought Routh looked to young besides the people who complained on here. If there were any complaints it was because he had a kid in the film. Besides if they do a reboot its going to be about a young superman so if the guy is 22 he would be at least 25 by the time a film gets rolling. Some good choices though to change things up from the usual.

He was never in contention for Superman Returns and Justice League: Mortal. The studio knew he was Ratner's favorite for the role and had his auditions/screen tests at their disposal to give to Singer and George Miller to watch. He was never considered even then. His time to done the red and blue suit in the film franchise has passed.

He also had a great stint on chuck and his own show now "Whitecollar". So he's not hurting any by not playing supes. I like him a lot as an actor i just he's way too small to play supes at like 5'10 or 5'11.

routh was the perfect height/weight for the role, i just don't think he acted that well in the film.

I'd suggest someone around 6'1 or 6'2. Why? well clark is suppose to blend in. I can see a guy around 6'1 blending in and not standing out too much, but a 6'4 guy is gonna stand out and especially if he's buff it will show through i don't care what he's wearing. Now chris reeves pulled off 6'4 but if you're going to imply that people don't realize clark is supes , someone tall but not too tall makes more since logically to me. He shouldn't have too much of a distinct looking face, but more general, i don't know if that makes since but you know some people just look "generalized"? I don't know just some thoughts.

yea hammer and that adam guy would be good picks right now if we are waiting another 5-7 yrs since they would by then only be like 27-29 yrs old. So i def would like to see them stay likely choices for the role if they are even looked at come the time. Also yea i liked bomer as a choice for awhile and liked him both in chuck and his new show white collar but its to bad he isnt very likely of a choice and more so if its a 5-7 more yrs wait and all that.

He meets my criteria. Get him a bodybuilding coach. He looks athletic right now, should be able to get into good shape fast.

He still would need to test like everyone else, but so far I like what I see.

100% agreed on Bomer being way too small. Way too short, and he has a very narrow frame. His head to body ratio is huge too. He just looks like a little man, and I suspect that 5'10" is being padded. He looks about 5'7" on Whitecollar to me, and about 120 pounds soaking wet with a brick in a backpack.

For a Superman Actor I strongly feel that taller is the way to go.

To me 6’4" is in no way too tall. Guys that height are a dime a dozen for one, and as Superman it looks way better for him to be a head taller than the average people he is around.

I suggest they cast for Superman first and foremost, and then do the work to make him a decent Clark. That is the way it should be. Easy for him to look like Superman and have to work to look like a human.

They can also just use a few points to re-direct the audience away from asking why no one notices such a big guy standing out at the daily planet.

Another trick is to cast a couple 6'2"+ character actors to just play other guys working for the Daily Planet, so in a scene in Perry White's office with a dozen reporters he is talking to, those other taller guys are near Clark, and he does not look taller than everyone there. That would be an easy way to direct the audience away from Clark's tall height.

If someone comments that Clark is a big guy, then just say he is a big farm kid from Smallville.

The last thing I want is an average man as Superman. He should look like a mythic demigod, and having Clark as a taller man with big muslces looks good. Not IFBB Bodybuilder big, but like a strongly built man. As muscular as you can get without him looking like a Gorilla in the suit. He would just look like a taller and rather thick built guy, but in clothes no-one would tell how ripped, or cut he is.

Also explain to the Audience in some way that since Superman does not wear a mask, no one is looking for a secret identity.

Throw in a scene like this would re-direct the audience away from it, because it exposes that not only would people not be looking for a secret identity, but would dismiss it even if waved in their faces.

We do not need to make everything 100% realistic and sacrifice the visual medium of a strong looking tall Superman to make him look average as Clark. He can just be a big guy. He grew up on a farm after all, and being big fits the stereotype for big guys who grew up on a farm.

My Criteria for a Superman actor is no shorter than 6’1", and no taller than 6’6". Hopefully something in between, but those are the absolute limits for my taste.

If he was at the shorter end of that then I would suggest 2" lifts in the Superman boots, and if he were at the taller end then flat soles as Clark, and cheat by having others around him wear shoes with lifts if they are standing close to him in the same shot, and have the actor stand a bit further back from the camera and slouch, IE cheat to make him look a bit shorter as Clark.

Also, anyone who gets cast should be in the gym working with a bodybuilding coach for as long as they have before filming. No different than what is expected of Superhero actors, such as Hugh Jackman or Christian bale.

Clark does not have to look 100% average. Being tall is just fine. If that’s too unrealistic keep in mind this is a guy who shoots lasers out of his eyes. We want more of his time on screen to be Superman, and so that is what he needs to look more convincing as Superman. If you do that part right the audience will easily forgive a tall broad shouldered Clark.

def agree there man clark needs to be cast first and as early as possible.

This image alone just sells me on Adam Gregory. That face & overall look is to me a perfect balance of moving away from the reeve look yet still maintaining the same overall criteria of what Superman should look like. this guy has it all, he just needs to bulk up.

Steve

Take away that hair & give him a spit curl & you can't deny that is a superman face.
