i agree patrick doyle would be great

his score for apes was great

loved his thor theme too

I have no idea who they're thinking of getting. Giacchino would be a solid and fitting choice, and Snyder does have a different crew on MOS. So maybe no Bates this time.

I relegate to the fact that I'm probably in the minority on this but I'd love to see Williams come back and do it or at least have somebody use his themes and update them some

I could see Doyle doing a hell of a score. It would be more traditionally grounded but Doyle has the chops to pull it off. Thor had a fantastic score.

He's out of touch and way past his peak in my opinion. Also, I don't know with how much respect he would treat the character given his recent comments about why he rejected directing Harry Potter.

giacchino would also be awesome his john carter stuff sounds awesome

JC Theme

Pursuit of Dejah

He should retire from directing and just produce some more awesome animated television.

The track Pursuit of Dejah from Giacchino I could definitely hear in MOS. Not that I'd prefer it, but it does sound like the sort of composer and style they'd go for.

I'd prefer something a bit more modern and slightly electronic / synthesized though. Actually if Snyder-composers, Tyler Bates and David Hirschfelder collaborated that could be really interesting.

The only problem I see in using synthesized music is it might date the score.

^ That's exactly what I don't want, Rust.

I dont really care if the score is dated in 10 years. Well, I do, but it can be done in a more open timeless way I believe, like Goldsmith and Williams has done many times. I just want something more than just the typical "oldfashion" soundtrack. Also to add to the otherworldy science fiction-aspect. It can be done.

I'm just so burnt out on electronic/synthesized scores. It feels like every big action movie has them now.

Could a score that is a mixture of synths and organic music be done?

i say no to Giacchino. his theme for John Carter sounds like every other theme from Giacchino. i even hear Speed Racer. i want something original.

I absolutely love Thomas Newman and think he can bring a real earnestness to the score. Unfortunately, he'll probably have his hands full with Skyfall...

You guys may have answered this already, but does Snyder have a particular composer that he uses for most of his movies? I know that some directors have their go to person for scoring their movies and I wasn't sure if Snyder was one of those Directors or not.

Yes, Tyler Bates.

I think so. Daft Punk did a brilliant job on Tron Legacy -- they incorporated electronics and synths into the orchestral score so well. The thing that stands it apart from Hans Zimmer and his MV followers is that the electronics don't double up (or imitate) an orchestra. The electronic music is much more sophisticated and rhythmic than what Zimmer would do. The orchestra actually humanizes and gives warmth to the electronics.

If MOS got a score like Tron Legacy, that would be exciting. I don't think Tyler Bates or Zimmer could deliver something like Daft Punk did.

That's funny I suggested Daft Punk for the score. Glad to hear other people liked their Tron: Legacy score.

not it does'nt lol JC theme has a very old school western feel to it you can actually feel his journey through the theme if i can have a feeling of what the character is going though by just the theme that is a success imo

it also has very romantic leitmotifs
