The Official Superman Thread - Part 3

It simply can't be done that way. Not without becoming something worse than what you're trying to fight. Tossing around corrupt businessmen, dirty cops, and politicians isn't gonna do a damn thing but turn the public against you. Why? Because you're f**king with people that control public opinion.

...

But as Clark Kent he can totally make a difference. (Without taking away peoples free will.) I think that that is the ultimate realization he'll have to make.

Anything he does as Clark Kent that has any legitimate chance of making a difference will be interpreted by the people who control public opinion as ****ing with them just as much as anything he could possibly do as Superman.

If journalists could save the world then the world would be saved because we've got ****tons of journalists to do it for us, the people who rule the world are really good at keeping journalists from saving anything.

And Superman punching plutocrats in the face isn't taking away anyone's free will, except maybe the free will of a few plutocrats, and they don't exactly give any amount of ****s about the free will of anyone besides themselves.

I notice you deleted all the stuff that explains the taking away peoples free will thing.

Well played.

Issue three was good but I am fairly certain the alien entity is Brainiac but it may not be and may be a fake out by Morrison. As for the Social issues argument I think Superman explained it best to Kyle Rayner when he first became ION and was changing things around the world and making every save possible. He basically said that we have to let the Humans be humans and allow them to save themselves at times because if they(heroes) do to much they will become to reliant and that is not a way species should leave.

Claiming it's not an either/or situation and then straight up saying he should do nothing is objectively a load of total ****.

In addition to **** this is also nonsense since we all obviously know that alien invaders will show up exactly as often as writers decide to have alien invaders show up instead of having him deal with social problems, ergo he has as much time to deal with social problems as any particular writer will allow him to have.

No because dealing with the threat of external invasion is obviously what we have government for.

Conversely we demonstrably have zero effective means of dealing with the government, which is why that's exactly what Superman should be for.
ur so mean to me. :csad:

I loved Luthor's reaction to Brainiacs arrival. Such an arrogant dbag, lol

The breakneck pace of Grant Morrison’s run on ACTION COMICS continues as the Superman of the present day must team up with suspiciously different versions of the Legion of Super-Heroes to save the jeans-wearing Superman of five years ago! Whose hand is that on the cover? Why, the leader of the Anti-Superman Army, of course!
Plus, a backup by Sholly Fisch and ChrisCross that spins directly out of the lead story!

SUPERBOY #6
Written by SCOTT LOBDELL
Art by R.B. SILVA and ROB LEAN
Cover by SHANE DAVIS and JONATHAN GLAPION
On sale FEBRUARY 8 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US RATED T
Superboy wants answers about his Kryptonian heritage, and he intends to track down Superman to get them – unfortunately, Supergirl’s going to find him first, and she’s horrified by what she sees! Their encounter will leave her even more troubled by life on Earth, and leave him wondering why even his own people think he’s a monster!

I'll be pretty interested to see how Morrison writes the Legion. Probably not as good as Levitz does but I'm sure its still going to be a fun story :)

Sounds like a pretty interesting direction for Action Comics. Superman of the present interacting in indirect ways with the Superman of the past in the current arc. I wonder if the third arc will be Superman of the future interacting indirectly with the present Superman interacting indirectly with the Superman of the past.

One of the greatest Superman stories ever written covered that same subject:

I really wish that DC would go and collect Maggin's Superman work.

I think Supergirl might be the most underrated to come out of the New 52.

The art is phenomenal, the premise so far isn't bad, and Kara's characterization is tons better than it ever was in her last series.

Third issue of Supergirl was the best, I found the first two kinda uninteresting but the latest will keep me reading.

well, I just picked up SG #3 tonight! as well as SB #3, AC #3, JL #3, SM #2, and TT #2.......yeah......I've got some catching up to do........lol

Whoever is the new artist of Superman is doing an mazing Job.I actually liked the way he/she draws the costume inspite of the collar.
Speaking of Costumes,I think the Ac comic costume wouldnt be that bad-if the design had been slightly altered.
1.First make the T-shirt also made of Jeans material so as to match the trousers perfectly.
2.make the Tshirt and Jeans the same shade of blue.
3.Let Superman wear the shirt in a way that exposes his belt and finally
4.color his boot red with yellow laces

Yes, Superman should wear all denim, throw in a denim cape as well. I agree with this.

I'm looking forward to whenever he gets an actual costume in AC, personally. I appreciate the idea behind his DIY costume in this first arc, but the costume is an integral element of the superhero, so the guy who's basically synonymous with the word "superhero" should definitely embrace that.

yup  i love it. Even Superman in it is written well.

What the hell is up with the cover of Superman #3? Why is there a light line of red circling his butt cheeks!

Seriously, I did a double take and wondered if I'd got a damaged copy... But it seems it was intentional!

ABSOLUTELY FALSE INFORMATION!!!

Her new foil is annoying as **** too (seriously why must the super chicks always face a Byrne Luthor knock off?)

But the art sure is purty. No arguments there.
