And she would have gotten away with it too if it weren't for that meddling Superman

You didn't break into Nick Cage's house again, did you?

Let the poor man have his comic book.

Stealing comic books is worse than stealing cakes

Four tens of cakes even

Who's willing to bet that it'll be like a hundred times better than Johns' take? Any takers? ;)

Almost definitely

Superman #1 was the most wordy comic I have ever read and I've read bendis before.

I liked that it was really wordy. I don't want that in every comic, but it was a nice change of pace I thought.

if I'm in the zone reading golden age or silver age comics, then I just adjust to the wordiness, but after reading so many decompressed ones, superman kind of caught me off guard

I liked how much stuff was jammed into it, but honestly I prefer the decompressed ones. makes for a better paced read in trade form.

Not a fan of decompressed stories or 'writing for the trade' myself I don't mind a comic to be wordy if its interesting

Do you think you'll stick with Superman

I can't bring myself to buy it even though I know it'll be good. It just see,
Ms like, anything really game changing will always be happening in the Morrison book, so Perez's will ultimately just be filler.

yeah I'm gonna stick with the superman book, it's not like he has a lot anyways, unless you count team books and cameos, which usually don't contribute to his mythology in a meaningful way

I will! I liked it.

 :woot:

I'm not so sure

Morrison's run seems to be concentrating just on the origins. Perez might come up with some really neat concepts for the characters future

Morrison is setting Action Comics in the present after the first arc. So yeah, a lot of what Perez is going to do is filler while Morrison does the more important stuff.

And then isn't Morrison setting it in the future after that?

So yeah...it's Grant Morrison. When he writes a comic, it's like he's that character's Father, Son and Holy Spirit all rolled into one.

the superman title will become meaningless once morrison is done with his origin arc.

I cant wait for morrisons take on present day supes. and hopefull rags can make the new suit look good.

You know, I really dislike this train of thinking. It's like with batman years ago. GM was writing Batman and everyone was all into it basically calling it the best thing ever(but not me because I didn't care), yet I heard nothing but good things about Dini's Detective run. As far as I'm concerned, both were more than worth it and nothing had to "happen" for it (Detective) to be a good read.

You should get around to reading Watchmen someday. :o

I have read it but I expect it from that stuff. I wasnt expecting it from this. It was good but just more wordy than I'm used too. Oh and I haven't read too much from the 60's but that shouldn't matter.

See, I never cared for Dini's run.

It all felt extremely forgettable to me (except for Heart of Hush...but just because that was like a semi-sequel to Hush).

That's what I assume the Superman title will be; ultimate forgettable.

How many issues is the first arc?

I read the main stories for the greater plot. Side stories are tangents. Which is fine. If you want to read about a character you like but that isn't as popular as the headliner, sides can be the answer. Other times, the main story isn't remarkable, while the sides are. But they conform to the greater plot, so if the main story requires, a side story can be interrupted or derailed. I don't like that. As well, comics are a hobby. I'd be loopy to buy every comic with a Bat logo on it for a full story, most of which might not count come next year. I stick to "what matters," cliché as that is.

That said, since they're fundamental, the main stories tends to gloss over character beats. I don't like that, either. That's my biggest gripe with Johns' style. Not surprisingly, I don't read Green Lantern anymore. Morrison's improved his own approach, though, so I don't feel like I'm missing out by preferring Action Comics.

Morrison's story jumps back and forth between time, it has past, present and future. :)

Superman #1 was just.........ok.

ironically, Superman himself felt more like a side character in this issue.
