i dont mind how he draws clark... supes would be better if hed lay off the SR costume... i hate how he draws jimmy... perry is good though... jor-el sucks... i didnt know donner originally wanted connery to be supes's pops?

I think it looks okay but as I said before I think this idea would have been better if DC went with the Ulitmate DC idea and based that line off of the movie and TV show.

Kubert will probably be the highlight of this book honestly, except for the \S/ buckle. Andy had it right with his variant cover.
Kuberts are usually the highlight of any book they're on. The whole family ****ing owns. Andy and Waid on Cap is one of my favorite Cap runs, Adam and David on Hulk is one of my favorite Hulk runs, etc. I may be what some might call "ga-ga for the Kuberts."

Joe Kubert can still tech his sons a thing or two about art.

I don't mind the SR outfit as long as they don't merge the movie with the comic book. Just like how I would not care if the Batman Begins outfit found its way into the comics as long as the movie didn't!

I'm not averse to changing Superman's costume, I just don't see the necessity of the SR costume. That redundant "S" and the texturing were there to liven the costume up a bit for the movie, where Routh didn't have perfectly defined muscles to create interesting visuals in spite of the plainness of Superman's classic costume. In the comics, there's just no need for it.

Well, he's got about 30 years of practice on them. The younger Kuberts don't always get the technical details right, but when it comes to creating a dynamic action scene, they're hard to top.

From looking at the preview at EW, I think Adam's art for Action Comics looks better than Andy's art for Batman.

But i do like the way Woods does it.

Woods doesn't do anything movie-inspired. He embosses the "S," which has been done for years by various artists, and he makes Superman's sleeves longer, which I'm not a big fan of. There's no "S" on his belt or anything, though.

**** that! this book is already ruined for me, i will not buy anything that has any resemblence to routh, ughhhhh. Andy kubert art looks great, but jesus the image of routh really killed it for me. **** feels like a SR prequel. ruined on all levels.

...where does Superman look like Routh?

i just looked at the preview myself, and a few things seem odd to me.

1. Isn't jimmy Olsen like in his mid 20s now? If so why does he look like kid?

2. Why does The "Kryptonian" deathmachine kid, look like Jason White/Lane?

3.Is superman still the Last son of Krypton, How many kryptonians are running around in the freaking universe?

4. Its odd the the kids ship would just happen to land in Metropolis.

5. I really wish Jim Lee would comics back to superman comics.

Check the preview pages at ew.com.
He looked like Routh in one panel.

In any case, I'm very pleased to say it's looking pretty good to me. I haven't even been much of a fan of the Kuberts in the past, but after three issues of Batman, I've finally adjusted to Andy's style, and now Adam's looks pretty good in Action.

Jimmy has really gotten the s**t end of the stick lately. Not in terms of being physically hurt or injured, but in terms of lost character development.

I mean, for God sakes, Olsen actually grew up over the years, became a world famous photographer because of his pictures of Superman's death, left the Daily Planet, joined WGBS News and became a fully capable reporter in his own right (even becoming a rival to Lois), and then rejoined the Planet later on.

And now he's reduced to fetching coffee and looking like a whimpy teenager again?

I've got to admit that it's not completely Johns' and Donner's (still not certain about the extent of Dick's involvement) fault, though. Once he left WGBS, Jimmy slowly fell back into the status quo of the freckly kid photographer, until (I believe it was) Verheiden tried to reestablish Jimmy as a serious reporter again. But we can see that that character growth seems to have been completely forgotten once more.

Johns, if you're going to make things into the way they were during the SA, at the expense of fully developed characters, go write All Star.
