The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The Official TASM2 Costume Thread!! - Part 1

When he was falling though it looked like he might not have been able to reach the wall to cling to, so he would have just fallen to the ground.

I went on YouTube to look at the scene. His back hits the side of the building. All he had to do was just stick to it.

To his credit there was also a giant ****ing tower falling right above his head that he had to avoid so sticking to the wall might not of crossed his mind in that moment of panic.

He was also still holding the lizard serum in one hand.

Guess Spider-Man didn't want to ruin Connors moment of redemption
People make stupid decisions, it's part of life,I'm over that part

I questioned that too. It was like " uh oh Superman's falling out of a plane" "but he's Superman"
"Uh oh Spider-Man's gonna fall off a building" " all he as to do is stick to it."

I didn't look at it as a reflection of Peter's inability to save himself (or the writer's forgetfullness), but solely as Connors' desire to save Peter. He saw Peter falling, and his automatic response was to help him. It was to show that the Lizard was no longer in control and that Connors was willing to hurt himself to help Peter (holding 150 pounds with an arm that's disentigrating can't be an enjoyable experience).

That being said, we don't know how well his clinging ability works. Would he have been able to come to a complete stop (his fingers sliding on glass before "catching" hold)?

Well said. And also to mention that he had to try and avoid the 100 ton tower that was falling towards him and about to crush him to death. I'm sure he was a bit panicked as any one in that situation might be so sticking to the wall isn't as simple as hitting 'X' on the PS controller. He didn't seem to be in a position to catch the wall and with his broken webshooters had Connors not reached out for him, Peter may have strayed too far from the bldg and fallen to his death.

go back and look at that scene. He is inches from the wall.

I've seen it plenty of times. I still believe in my argument that simply sticking to the wall given the circumstances was not as simple as people are making it out.

Simplest reason Pete didn't stick to the glass and Connors saved him... drama.

It was a way to show Connors was becoming himself again (and maybe Pete was just knackered from it all).

I accept that this was all done for dramatic effect. And it worked for me.

Yeah, that's not one of the bits I question. It worked for me also.

It doesn't matter why he didn't stick to the wall when he initially feel. The real question is why, after Conners caught him, did he STILL not just wall crawl up, instead leaving Conners to pull him up with his disintegrating arm.

That's just a dick move.

He was knackered could be one. He was stunned to see Connors.

But the best reason? Redemption for the character of Connors. It was all done for dramatic effect.

Yes, but dramatic purpose should not contradict established elements, like, you know, the fact that he can stick to walls.

And whether he was "knackered," or shocked, or not, he was leaving it to Conners, who's arm was falling apart, which means Peter was also, potentially, risking his life by not just clinging to the wall himself.

I don't think he means just tired when he says 'knackered'. I think he means he was too weak and beat up by that point to do it himself.

You have a problem. I don't. It worked for the drama and the 'redemption of the character of Connors'.

You honestly think Pete is just being a lazy dick? You think that's what the writers where thinking when planning out that scene?

Uh.. Peter's ability to stick to walls probably doesn't work with his feet considered the soles of his sneakers.

Since they did such an awesome job updating the ASM suit by trashing it and completely going backwards and updating the Raimi suit, I can't wait to see what they do with this!

-_- (yes, that was sarcasm)

He only needed silver running shoes on the bottom.

I don't think the people who say this understand how Spider-Man's clinging powers work.

So he could cling to walls if he had high heels on? How would he get his tennis shoes off if whatever he touches his body naturally clings to?

It makes perfect sense that the closer his body is to a wall, the better he can cling. If he was wearing shoes on his hands, I don't think he could cling to walls.

Hmm.. that doesn't seem right to me..

I mean, how is he really part-spider then? For all we know Richard just engineered the spider's venom to be some sort of super-human serum. :/

I know right? If that's the case it must take hours for Peter to get dressed, and simply peeing must be an extremelly painful experince. And what about grabbing toilet paper? Lol have little bits of it stuck at the ends of his fingers.

You see, that's why I always liked the microscopic hairs idea, because it makes more sense for him to be able to control it that way.

Why would the other way make less sense? It eventually becomes second nature to him like breathing, and he can turn his clinging effect off and on at will. More believable than microscopic hair being able to carry his whole body weight, or not getting torn out, when someone forcefully tries to rip him off a wall.
