Dr. Fate said:I like Maggie Smith well enough as McGonagall, but I do not support the filmmakers creating their own crap in place of the original material from the book. All it does is distort the original version and, 9 times out of 10, makes the characters look bad.
I didn't want original scenes in there. In fairness, they ***** and moan about not having time to fit things in, yet they find time to add things are not needed and were never even in the books to begin with.
Matt. said:McGonagal was so out of character in GOF it wasn't even funny. She would not be caught dead teaching students how to dance. She would see it as trivial and unneccessary. Furthermore, her forgetting to tell Harry about the champion dance was so out of character. Since when is McGonagal an absent minded old woman?
This is one of the things fans of the books are supposed to forget. You know, the actual characters an such.
Exactly, it would take just as much time for Dobby to tell them, then it would for Hermione to lecture them about reading Hogwarts: A History and then tell what she knows. It is just a stupid change to over glorify Hermione.
The thing is, I can't stand it when Hermione is on screen now. Part Emma Watson's acting 'talent' and also what they have done to the character.
With Hermione in the books, she annoys you a little bit but you are still fond of the character (well that's the intention anyway), but the Hermione of the movies is just bloody annoying. The only people who like her are the girls who want to be like Watson, or the horny teenage boys or honry middle aged men who want a piece of her.
Pretty cool.
