I saw the newly-updated special on A&E. Loved the new bits shown from OOTP, particularly the Hall of Prophecies scenes (man, Jason and Helena pull off their roles beautifully from what I can tell) and the action scenes look beautifully choreographed, although the scene where Harry uses Crucio on Bellatrix utilizes the shaky handicam approach, which I'm not a fan of. And that "exclusive" scene between McGonagall and Umbridge, I half-expected it to be from the chapter "Career Advice" from OOTP.

Anyway, I really can't wait for it. It's shaping up to be a really good movie.
 
My problem with Harry Potter is not the movies but the Acadmey. I mean there have been 4 coming on 5 movies now and they have not once given this franchise a single award.
I think this is one of the great franschise Up there with Rings, Star Wars, Bond and Pirates.
I also think its more of an outrage that not a single actor not even Alan Rickman gets noticed for these films.
Richard Harris was phenomenal.
Sorry for my rant but they are good movies but get treated like inferiro films.

Your right.
The score for the fourth film should have been nominated, and the CGI needs to be noticed as well.
 
just a question to all: should I see this? not that hardcore a potter fan.
 
Yes you should and you don't have to be a potter fan. Its not some kid movie. These films have a dark edge to them that makes them cool. Check them out and you may want to see all if you haven't. It helps if you seen the othere but trust me they are great films.

I 100% agree with you there man. This movie series is up there with the rest of them and these movies are great. I don't know why they haven't won an award, it annoys me.
 
I am really looking forward to seeing this film. I just think the storylines have gotten better with every book.
 
Academy always ignores a genre of films- they completely looked the other way when Batman Begins came out which DEFINITELY should have got nominated in a couple of categories- I mean, look at the fckin' cast for crying out loud!

Christian Bale
Gary Oldman (arguably one the BEST actors today)
Michael Caine
Morgan Freeman
Liam Neeson

Hell, I consider a sin that Gary Oldman hasn't even been nominated yet! He's one of the best chameleon actors there is! Some actors you go to see a movie that they are in and you recognize them immediately- Oldman blends himself so much into the role that you seriously don't see him as Gary Oldman, but whatever character he is portraying on screen.

BTW, Harry Potter fans- Oldman portrays Sirius Black in the films. :up:
 
Harry Potter is still viewed as a kid's film, regardless of how dark or dramatic it gets. Same with any comic movie or movie based on a toy.
 
I have to wait until nest Tues to see this. Which sucks :cmad:
 
I don't know when I will see it but one thing is sure and that is I will see it.
 
I think The Dumbledore /Voldemort battle will be off the hook. Its so reminds me of Obi v/s Vader in A New Hope. Harry ofcourse must Face voldemort alone in some point to face his fear. Like Luke Facing his father.
 
Haha, I picture it more to be like Yoda vs. Dooku. Dumbledore gonna be doig some crouching tiger ****. :p
 
What date does this actuall come out on? I thought it was Wednesday the 11th, but have been hearing Tuesday.

WIKI and IMDB say that the US release date is July 11th

From someone who saw the film - Umbridge's comeuppance is different from her running away, being hit by Peeves/ghosts. Instead, we get the ultimate burn from Harry Potter, for her actions...


The centuars are attacking Umbridge and just before they carry her away she turns to Harry to beg.

"Please Harry, tell them I mean them no harm."

Harry looks her in the face and says:

"Sorry, Professor. I must not tell lies."

He runs off with Hermione and Ron.
