This version of floo communicating is actually more what i had in mind from the books than what they did with GOF. I always imagined a floating head in fire.

and I didn't realize they never explained who sent the dementors. pretty big flaw.

If there was any part of this movie that failed in my eyes it was the characterization of Cho. She was entirely too likable and her story left open when it needed to be closed. As I've said earlier, there's nothing left for her in the remaining movies.

No Richard Harris was just better.
Richard was really really old and didn't have the energy or movement as this Dumbledore does. Richard would have walked over to Voldermort and threw out his wand where as this one has more vigor. Richard Harris was great but he was just too old.

They kind of implied Voldemort sent them a couple of times. But I do agree...having Dolores say she sent the dementors would have been a big twist this movie was lacking. Every Potter film so far has a big twist at the climax, this one didn't. Sirius dying really wasn't a big twist...it was kind of expected and he will come back anyways. It showed how evil Dolores could be when she slapped Harry, said she was going to use the Cruciatas curse, and even said she hated kids. But having her spill the beans on how she wanted to ruin Harry Potter and get him finally expelled would have been great.

the question is, in what form he will come back. Rowling has said that Sirius is dead.

I don't know as to what form but Sirius will be back. Luna even kind of said that the things we loose come back to us in a way we aren't expecting.

I saw it at the Drive-In with 1408. 1408 was better.

Pros:

1. Gary Oldman was amazing as Sirius Black. He was easily the best actor in the movie. Is it me or was he the only one to show emotion in this film?

2. Luna. She was just how I pictured her. Hot, smart, and ditzy. Although I do wonder why I saw blatant Harry/Luna chemistry; It was most welcome.

3. I thought Bella and Tonks were spot on. Bella was completely insane and Tonks flirting with Harry was cool.

4. Maggie Smith was great as always.

5. Lucius Malfoy. Acting was great. I also liked how he and the other Death Eaters easily caught Harry and Co. The smiled at the line "Did you really think you kids could beat us?"

6. The Death Eaters weren't useless bumbling fools that fanon had etched into my mind.

7. After the movie was over; while reflecting about when Harry said something like "Maybe if I stop caring about people they will live" and Sirius died soon after, I laughed.

Cons:

1. How close is Privet Drive to farmlands?

2. We didn't see Harry's stag patronus at the beginning but we saw the DA's fully formed.

3. Sirius' death scene. (Besides killing the best actor in the series) After being hit with an AK he somehow managed to turn his head to look at Harry. I think they could have easily done it the way the book had, as well as Harry screaming "She killed Sirius! She killed Sirius! I'LL KILL HER!" Also, I thought in the book Bella screamed for at least 3 seconds when Harry crucios her.

4.The black wraith/DE's and the white pure Order members made me roll my eyes.

5. The whole Dumbledore/Voldemort conversation is cut.

6.The Voldemort possesses Harry scene. I was looking forward to the Voldemort/Harry saying "If death is nothing, then kill the boy."

7. The line where Harry say's he pities Voldemort.

8. I was looking forward to Harry yelling at his friends in #12 and destroying Dumbledore's office. It seems Harry only raises his voice to demand "Look at me!"

i would say that the "big twist" at the end was that harry was being controlled by voldemort whenever he got angry.... maybe i read the movie wrong (or the book, it's been a while).

but i agree about delores. that would have been great, hearing her confess to all those things.

Chaesters completely right, your a respected poster on these boards, and for lack of a better word..your acting childish.

The movies cinematic qualities alone (set direction, fx, direction, cinematography etc.)merit the movie at least a 5, then if you add on the intelligent story..even if the movie isnt your cup of tea, any fan of cinema should be able to put personal dislike aside and give credit to a films cinematic merit.

movies like "are we done yet" deserves a 1..this doesnt.

Even Spider-Man 3 deserves better then what it gets, although i admit i do not like that movie.
Well, luckily for me, I never saw Are We Done Yet or Catwoman or any Uwe Boll films. I don't watch any films that look that bad. And I put a much higher stake in plot and character than FX. Much much much much higher. I can only judge this based on my own experiences, and that's why it got a 3.

I liked this movie better that Goblet of Fire. It felt it was rushed. I hadn't read the book in awhile so I'm pretty sure I'd be more disappointed if I did in this movie. But there is sooo much you can squeeze into a children's movie:(

- If they weren't going to point out Kreacher's deceit then why put him in the movie.
-I hated how Neville founded the room of requirement. If Kreached had no point in being in the movie then Doby could of been in it.
-Harry and Cho weren't officially together in the book. So why were they holding hands.:whatever:
-The Patil twins together in every scene they were in really annoyed me.
- I personally thought the introduction to OOTP was really brief and gave no real insight on what it was about.
-Too little Malfoy
-Sirus death and the whole department of mysteries went to quick to me.

+Though the movie was rushed the montages were great.
+The Weasley twins breakout.
+Luna though all her one liners were cut out. :(
+Bellatrix and Tonks

Kreacher was in it because Rowling told them to put him in it, because he's important in Book/Movie 7.

I understand why now they didn't make Dolores confess to setting the Dementors onto Harry because in book 6, the Dementors have joined Voldemort's army and I am sure we will see them again under his command. So that is one less annoyance for me now that I understand the reason behind it.

Like someone else pointed out. Sirius's death fell flat. He turned around and floated off?? ok.

I like GOF better. This isnt a bad film it just feels like it was missing something. Maybe a stronger subplot.

HBP was a good book not my fav but I hope its better

I just realized the lady who spoke up in defense of harry who was apart of the court was Susan bones aunt lol

-Too little Malfoy
I'm going to assume you mean Draco, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm dreading seeing him get a lot of screen time in Half-Blood Prince. The kid is just such a terrible actor. The way he says "POTTER!" is so incredibly irritating and not in the "he's such a good bad guy way".

Yeah, Draco and Harry headon's are always good in the books though

I saw it. Was Awesome. The battle scences coulda been longer though. And the last conversation with Dumbledor could have a little more emotion.

The Summer of disappointment's continues Spider-man, Shrek, POTC, and now this....this movie was a bore-fest for the first hour and 50 minutes...it was just talking and hogwarts, umbridge...the plot didn't even get advanced...this movie was just a big filler......

The best part came at the end the Lord Vs dumbledore...that was a spectacular duel and the one of the best parts of the HP films...other than the ending the eintire first half was just flat and boring....
Voldemort is back and gets no scene time until the end....I didn't like that

The GOF was still the best of the HP films....the graveyard scene is my favorite scene in all the movies......

In the books, if I remember Voldemort really didnt show himself untill the end of the movie. and In HBP I don't recall reading about him in the flesh at all. But I may be wrong.

another gripe.... syrius' fire talk... he looked really tv-movie compared to his last appearance.

did they severely cut back the budget for this one or what?

This was more book-accurate, though I liked the whole face in the fire ashes thing they did before.

Of course this was done mainly to make no doubt who it was harry was talking to as well since you can clearly see it's Oldman. Gary didn't do the last film so they just had it be a cgi creation. no need this time though..

Precisely. This complaint holds no water since it's like the book. voldy pops up in the end then battles a little and is gone. Yates prettymuch shot what was on the pages, trimming the fat of course (book is huge).

I doubt we'll get much voldy until deathly hallows. Still need to be patient, fellas. :wow:

dobby still needs to be in it :(

screw dobby.

He reminds me too much of the kiddy harry potter days with his childish stuff.

I hope the next movie just continues the trend of making potter darker, more adult, more complex. dobby's going to detract from that too much.

And Daniel Radcliffe is the next Johnny Depp.

Tim Burton for Deathly Hallows please.

Hopefully they're a couple some how in book 7.
