The Summer of disappointment's continues Spider-man, Shrek, POTC, and now this....this movie was a bore-fest for the first hour and 50 minutes...it was just talking and hogwarts, umbridge...the plot didn't even get advanced...this movie was just a big filler......

dude, that's the way it is in the book. a lot of talk. and I love that. if you want to see movies with just action sequences, this and the followings aren't the best choices.

go, see Transformers or Spidey 3.

screw dobby.

He reminds me too much of the kiddy harry potter days with his childish stuff.

I hope the next movie just continues the trend of making potter darker, more adult, more complex. dobby's going to detract from that too much.

And Daniel Radcliffe is the next Johnny Depp.

Tim Burton for Deathly Hallows please.

That's guarented. It's what the movies and books are doing. At the same time the trio is growing up (and the readers and audiences too), the books are growing in darkness. And that's great.

Yeah, if you hated this movie there is 95% chance that you are going to have the next film; Half Blood Prince. Its all about Voldemort's past. The last 30-45 min should be good though.

I thought the HBP was Snape. Anways can anyone tell me do they think even if Snape did kill DD he was made too by DD in order to stay spy or is DD not dead and thats the surprise at the End. But my true guess is that the surprise returner is not DD but Sirius Black.
Also in Deathly Hallows the book who will die besides maybe Harry

Precisely. This complaint holds no water since it's like the book. voldy pops up in the end then battles a little and is gone. Yates prettymuch shot what was on the pages, trimming the fat of course (book is huge).

I doubt we'll get much voldy until deathly hallows. Still need to be patient, fellas. :wow:
Agree, sadly most of these complaints about the movie are from people who haven't read the books. Someone saying they didn't like the movie because Voldemort wasn't in most of the movie is dumb...read the books if you want canon to the movies. Sure this movie could have been a tad longer but after seeing it multiple times...it is absolutely perfect.

what? HBP is ALL about Voldemort.

its about him yes. Seing his family, where he came from, his mother. But i Don't recall him being in the book in his PRESENT state as a recovering dark lord. I havent read the book in a year so I may be missing some things. But how many times was Voldemort around other than in past memories and finding his horcruxes?

You are correct. In the Half Blood Prince, Voldemort doesn't make an appearance. We do see his history, his family, etc. but we never actually seem him in the present.

As a film easily the best of the fie so far.

Best acted andwritten. I will say it is not as strongly directed as the previous two however and is not up to snuff with Curaon or even Newell as seen in the antii-climatic
death of Sirius

but it was just the most involving and the first to really completely step away from the tradition and formula of the first three. The fourth did by the end of the movie but in terms of story this is where Rowling really starts playing for keeps.

A very good movie. Best of the summer....easily.

death of sirius
.

I'm just curious whether you think it's a pos. or negative thing.
I haven't read any of the books although i know "some" of the major plot lines. But i think that scene was shot that way. That it would really hit you unpexpected .

I saw the movie for the 2nd time today and this time i heard alot of "Oh crap man , not him.....oh ****....damn" comments. Seems alot of people this time around hadn't expected that scene to happen. And the way that character also plays his role in the movie makes it that much more shocking.

Also i think the last scene of the Cornelius seeing Voldemort and then uttering the "He's back line " was also shot in such a way that the audience would give the "DUHHHH " response.:woot:

I love the darker tone, but still Dobby's awesome. I missed him in this film and I want to see him back.

DAYYUMMM !!! :wow:
190 million already. I mean i knew that Potter was performing well but that well.
Excellent.

Yeah this movie is money in the bank overseas. I don't even think it's opened in all it's markets yet either. Plus the WOM is good.

another gripe.... syrius' fire talk... he looked really tv-movie compared to his last appearance.

did they severely cut back the budget for this one or what?

If I remember from the book the Ministry had been cracking down on unsolicited contact with students in the school so he wasn't able to get as strong a signal or his method of contact with Harry was a more primative method.

The best part came at the end the Lord Vs dumbledore...that was a spectacular duel and the one of the best parts of the HP films...other than the ending the eintire first half was just flat and boring....
Voldemort is back and gets no scene time until the end....I didn't like that

True. But the events in the movie are like those in the book. You might say that OOTP is the least liked of the books because it's more talk and setting things up than action. In the book Voldermort didnt show himself to the end. The same thing is true of HBP, I dont think he makes an apperence even though he is discussed heavily.

I enejoyed that about this film too. I swear there were these little kids sitting in front of me and by movies end some of them had the jitters. By book five the sort of kiddie feel is gone and we start stepping into adult territory and I think this film did a good job of representing that.

^Well, with pens that use your own blood to supply their ink and pre-teens getting smacked around by adults, I would think so.

Yeah. Umbridge torturing Harry like that would be a little tough for some kids to handle. Correct me if I'm wrong but didnt he have several sessions like that with her in the book or was it just he one. I'm fairly certian it was more then once before anybody found out about it.

several

Yeah I think it went on for awhile till someone noticed and he still didn't get help They eventually made a potion so his hand would heal faster if I recall correctly.

I think it was really good but they could have made it longer and added some details so that people who have not read the books could keep track properly. Some of it moved to fast so it seemed like it went across a few weeks and not the full school year. Also, it didnt seem to have as much as a story to it as the first four... still it was a good movie and it was exciting to watch :)

Worldwide we're killing Transformers and Fantastic 4 and we've been out less than a week
