No problem. All my friends who are die hard Harry fans have said it was the worst movie and that it destroyed their favorite book.

Gary didn't do the last film so they just had it be a cgi creation. no need this time though..

Gary Oldman was credited as Sirius Black in GOF, he just did the voice for Sirius and his face was probably digitally mapped for use by the CGI team in the fireplace scene.

I've seen the last 30 minutes of OOTP about 3-4 times already (I work at a local theater and can see movies for free), and I am impressed with the pacing of the film and how fast it goes by (as well as the action and emotional sequences). While the movie severely compresses the novel, it does so in a movie-friendly way. Watching the film from a casual fan point-of-view, OOTP doesn't feel bloated or a feeling of being adapted from a book, and it functions as its own film. I give equal credit to Yates, his editor Mark Day, and Goldenberg for really turning the novel into a functioning film that stands on its own from the book.

And while I do miss some subplots, the screenplay naturally unfolds by itself and for the most part, is coherent. It's disheartening to have Kloves back for HBP and DH, but with Yates on board for HBP he'll coax a good adaptation of HBP out of Kloves.

In fact, I'm starting to prefer OOTP over POA, it's that good in my opinion.

How does Gambon come off when discussing the prophecy/his mistake at the end? One of my biggest complaints is how mean new-Dumbledore is. Is he a bit softer in that scene?

Gambon is much better in this film but that scene is barely in. In the movie, it's less than a minute and doesn't really explain anything. But Gambon is certainly quieter this time around, he only bellows out something in one scene.

Grawp and Centaurs are in but Firenze does not teach.

It was the 3rd best IMO. I still think Goblet of Fire and Prisoner of Azkaban are by far the best ones with Order of the Phoenix a distant 3rd. I do think this was one of best when it comes to the trio's acting.

It was the 3rd best IMO. I still think Goblet of Fire and Prisoner of Azkaban are by far the best ones with Order of the Phoenix a distant 3rd. I do think this was one of best when it comes to the trio's acting.

Emma's acting gets worse as the movies go, I think.

As I've stated before, Order is my favorite book and film, and I'm a huge fan. They did compress alot but most of the important things are still there. I do know that David Yate's original cut was 3 hours but WB had him trim it down, to the final version which is just a little under 2 hours 20 mins. So there's about 40 minutes of footage that was cut, hopefully we'll see it on DVD.

No, the centaurs are there. In the film (two actors were hired to play Magorian and Bane in the film, but their lines were probably cut), they don't speak at all, nor is Firenze mentioned or seen. They're in two scenes, total, and both involve Grawp.

Well, I suppose the locket is only fan speculation at this point (then again, it was on the UK cover of Book 7...so maybe not). Still, I'm glad Newell is trying to actually connect the movies. Anything regarding Snape? I felt in GOF he was sort of just wrote off as the mean teacher. Did they hint at how much more significant he would become? I guess it is hard not to being as he gives the Occlumency lessons.

I was expecting a "I trust Severus" from Dumbledore, but didn't happen. Also, the lack of Lily in Snape's remember was quite dissapointing too.

But it was great that Sirius as Padfoot is an actual dog(looks just like he does in the book) instead of being unnecessarily CG like he was in PoA.

I liked this movie, but another wtf moment is how Ron, Hermione, and Ginny rode on the Thestrals without being able to see them. It could have explained that a bit.

In the books it is revealed that Thestrals have an uncanny sense of navigation. All you really have to do is tell them where to go and they can.

I was having a WTF moment when they were riding them. But it looked cool and was glosssed over quick enough it really didn't matter.

I just wish that Sirius's death was better. He is easily the best character in the movie and Oldman was having a lot of fun with it. I think his death could have been done with more of him falling to the ground in non-slow mo after looking at Harry instead of floating away. I know it isn't as accurate but seeing him hit the floor as a lifeless carcass would have just felt more final and while still anti-climatic (as it is in the book) it would feel more "war-ish horrific."


BTW was I the only one wh oloved Helena Bonham Carter as Bella. She was having so much dang fun in that role and was just so nasty and enjoyable to watch. I was taken aback in the final scene when I stopped and went "Brendan Gleeson, Gary Oldman, Jason Issacs, Helena Bonham Carter, David Thewlis (who did not get enough to do, I love Lupin), and Ralph Finnes and Michal Gambon to come ALL in one scene....how the **** do they keep getting these amazing casts."

Agree. The cast in the HP films is always great. They have pretty much every high profile british actor in here. Oh and I just recently noticed that John Cleese is Nearly Headless Nick(didn't know that before). The only two these films are missing are Christopher Lee and Ian McK.

Speaking of which, JK was on a british tv show the other day and so was Bob Hoskins. He asked her why they've never put him in any of the films and JK said that there's a part in the next film that would be perfect for him. I'm pretty sure she meant Slughorn, a role he would be excellent in.

Completely agree. It's the most disappointing thing about the entire film. Dumbledore doesn't really explain anything to him as the scene lasts a total of 30 seconds. *sigh* again, I can only hope for more in the extended release. Oh and not explaining anything about P.I. was also a stupid move in GoF. I hate when they do that.

The direction of this film was poor. The film was all over the place.

If it wasn't for Ralph Fiennes it would have been a total loss.
