Why couldn't they just use the name Colin though (obviously it's not that big a deal to me, since I didn't notice the name anyway), isn't Colin's brother in the books named Dennis? Why use the name Nigel?

Why have a kid that looks just like fat albert randomly pop up in each movie?

Anyone else notice him? He was in OotP and in GoF, he just randomly pops out of nowhere and sometimes has lines like in PoA.

she was as b*** as in the book. no difference there.

There was a BIG difference. In the book she was not a *****. She was a straight out, evil person. In the movie she was just a *****y teacher. Her zapping unarmed McGonagal with three other aurors or sacking Hagrid (and taking pleasure from it) or admitting she sent the dementors would've made all the difference in the world. As it is, we got her making orders like no kissing in the hall or they have to obey the dress code. They just made her into a Catholic school nun. Not an evil person.

I have to think that kid knows someone. He has practically no role in the plot, and yet he had more screen time than Ron.

Also, what did everyone think of Michael Gambon this time around?

My thoughts:

Matt said:
Gambon once more fails to impress. When he tells Harry he cares for him at the end, it is just so gruff and casual...it is hard to actually believe it. But this time it was the scripts fault as well. He was given practically nothing to work with. The sacking of Trelawney could've been so much better if he brought in Firenze. We wouldn't have had to see Firenze again, but at the same time it would've showed Dumbledore for what he is, a bad ass. Instead he just yells at the students to go study. Very disappointing. It made him come off as if he was defeated throughout the movie. Why would any Order rally behind this man if he isn't even going to try and put up a fight? Same with the escape scene. It would've been so much better if Kingsley did wipe Cho's memory into saying Dumbledore was behind it like in the book, then Umbridge could've shaken her and Dumbledore could've threatened Umbridge at wand point. It just would've shown so much about him. Hell, even his throw away line in the book about being able to escape Azkaban if he wanted to...it would've just shown him as more than an old man who was running from the Ministry. Ever since Harris left, I just feel like Dumbledore has left so much to be desired.

I think Gambon's performance has improved alot, much better than Goblet of Fire, but you like you said, there wasn't much there when it came to Dumbledore. They could have made him so much cooler like he is in the books but choose not to. Instead he seems like this old homeless man with a moldy looking beard running around in potato sacks.

I really wanted to see that:csad:

*prays for 3 hour extended edition*

I'm waiting for extended editions of the first two movies, deleted scenes in 3 and 4 didn't add much, but watching the first two on ABC Family it cool to see the extended versions, just wish they'd release these versions already, probably gonna wait till all 7 have been released.

I think in this one Gambon did a good job (not like in GOF). The flaws were in the script, not the actor.

But that difference really depends on who you are talking too. For people who haven't read the books she did come across as a striaght evil person and the difference dont really matter to them. I understand your point though because I have read the books and I knew there were key points missing.

But even had we not read the books, what did Umbridge do that was THAT evil? She banned music in the halls of a school, enforced the dress code, and fired a professor who is completely incompetent. Its not exactly that bad. Granted, the "I must not tell lies" thing sucks, but being as Harry recovered from it pretty much immedietely (unlike in the books), it wasn't that bad. She just came off as an old fashioned, mean, teacher.

If a teacher is mean, to kids SHE'S EVIIIILLLLL!

I hated she in the movies as much as I hated she in the book. Anyway, I think there are worst things to complaint about the movies than this. Umbridge being a little less evil is not something very important to me

WHy? Umbridge is the second most important plot element of the movie. I think it is worthy of complaint :cwink:

I saw OOTP today. I'd give it between a 7 and 8. But...nothing really happened in this movie.:csad:

This movie sucked the first time around and I thought it was the worst one...I went to see it with my friend again yesterday and it was much better, I rank it now along side the POA and GOF.....everything didn't seem to rushed like the first time, the big showdown with the order and the DE's is still the best part...my friend I went with had the same feeling I did when I first viewing..

I hated the Department of Mysteries Battle. It was just such a cheap cop out the way it was done. Instead of having a real fight, they just take the form of different colored...blurs for lack of better wording and fly around the room.

^Despite the film being one of my favourites, I feel the same. I wish the battle sequence was longer.

Went to see this the other day. Surprisingly, it was nearly packed. I had a pretty good audience-lots of applause when Sirius punched Lucius. :woot:

the Department of Mysteries Battle was awesome, it was far better than I imagined.

Are you serious? I imagined it, as y'know, an actual battle. Not just blurs of light floating around.

I imagined more for Dumbledore's Army to do -- the Brain Room etc -- more also from the Order, Tonks appears for all of... two seconds?

Also there was apparently a more complex duel between Bellatrix and Sirius before she strikes with the Killing Curse. I would loved to have seen that. :csad:
