She was really out of character. She spent the whole book drooling over Ron which was really strange. She cared nothing about rules (she sent a pack of birds on Ron and hexed another student for Quiditch). She was of no use to Harry, etc.

Arguably she's been moving towards this for years. She's slowly been becoming more lax with the rules over time. Perhaps she was a tad too free with the rules, but it was hardly ruining her.

She was more lax on the rules when it went to save the day, not for childish things like jealousy and Quiditich. However I could of lived with that if she didn't become another love-sick teenage girl. Hermione always put Harry first, she was his most loyal friend - she did nothing significant to help him in this book and it seemed....off.

Remus was non existent.(Uh, he didn't even appear in book four and he has about the same airtime as in Order of Phoenix)

This is true, however this was the book that Remus SHOULD of played a bigger role in the story. He was Harry's last link to his parents, he should of taken Sirius' role has Dad/Uncle/Friend. Frankly his character was too good in POA to have played no role in the series this far.
I'm not sure I would have felt comfortable with Harry filling that void so quickly. And it's pretty hard to get any of the adult characters who don't work at Hogwarts into major parts once they go to school.

True, however they have enough time throwing in Molly and Mr. Weasly. Plus Remus had already started filling this void in Harry's life in POA, it was just delayed with the coming of Sirius. It would not at all of been out of place. Plus if Tonks was able to get enough screen time to throw her little love plot into the mix, Remus sure had the ability to have the same.

Tonks was horrible.(...How?)

She was a cool, fun character in OoTP - in this one her character was the exact opposite of her character in OoTP, and why? Because of some crush on Wolfie. She was suppose to be an auror - not a teenage girl.

It wasn't JUST because of her crush on Lupin, but also the loss of Sirius. Arguably, this is the only real reaction to Sirius' death in the book, and I'm thankful for it.

It seemed to be mainly her crush. Her hair took after Remus her Patronis took after Remus, she became much more of her old self when Remus allowed the love thing to fly. I would of much prefered to it of been because of her morning Sirius, that would of made more sense than some silly crush.

Ginny was unlikeable.(Some of us prefer a fiery, intelligent woman. I found Ginny great *shrug*)

I found her neither fiery or intelligent, she was a minor character that was made a love intrest because Harry needed a love intrest. She was bland and generic.

Not really. She was a nice continuation of the quiet, nervous Ginny with the crush on Harry. She really came into her own these past few novels. The romance felt a tad forced, but somehow it rang true to me that Harry would fall for Ginny.

The romance was ridiculous and meaningless. For one all of a sudden BOOM! feelings for a character he has known for 5 years and not at all felt feeling for. And then when the two finally get together all of the actual "romance" happened off screen. If Ginny was a well-developed character then it would of been better, but she was the third most developed female character behind Hermione and even Luna.

Draco became a wus.(No, he finally became a Death Eater. If anything, this book made Draco far more complex and interesting)

No, if they made Draco a true Death Eater it would of been better. Instead they made this character actually have morals and start to question his decisions. If he would of AK'd Dumbledore I would of liked him.

I much prefer the way we got it. I'm far more interested in characters with shades rather than two-dimensional murderers.

They already had Snape for that though, Draco was the character that had no morals - I would of prefered him staying that way. He should of been Harry's chief rival, not Snape.

I don't see the point in having Draco as Harry's chief rival because he never really poses a threat for Harry. Snape on the other hand has the dark past and power to trouble Harry.

I still think it's pretty cool that the girl chosen to play Luna Lovegood (Evanna Lynch) is a total HP fangirl with no professional acting experience. She loves the books so much that she'd die before she gave a bad performance as Luna or did anything out of character. I like her attitude.

Draco is Ron's rival, imo. Atleast, in the books it comes across that way. Voldemort is Harry's nemesis.

I was just wondering who everyone thought should direct the very final movie. Terry Guillem is directing Half Blood Prince.
So who should finish off these movies as a director. I will put a few ideas in mind.

1 Chris Columbus for he started this whole saga.
2 Alfonso Couron.
3 Gore Verbinski.
4 M. Night Shamylan.
5 Tim Burton.
6 Peter Jackson.

Alfonso Couron.
My favorite is Prisoner of Azkaban.
The look he gave to the film, the style, the camerawork, everything was just brilliant.
He allowed Harry to grow from what Columbus did.

Guillem directing was a rumor and he said he would never touch the Harry Potter movies.

Tim Burton would be interesting, but his style is so distinct I'm not sure it would fit in with the previous films.

I honestly would like to see Couron return.

Truth be known i just threw in Shamylan as an option but i personally think Gore Verbinski could make a great Potter film. He balance comedy and dark tones well in P.O.T.C.

Ofcourse it does help he has Ted and Terry. I think Columbus actually had in his contract to direct 3 films and has only done 2. Maybe he was always ment to come back and do the last one.

I would like to see Peter Jackson do one simply to see what weta could do with the effects for the Dementors and Werewolf Lupin well they stunk bad.

New Order of the Phoenix set photos

This scene is definitely from the "Dudley Demented" chapter of the book, so that's cool. Makes me want to pick up the book. Don't think I can't resist all 870 pages any longer, so I might as well start today. :yay:

Nice find.

Are those Harry and Dudley running?

ETA: Never mind. They're Harry and Dudley.

They show Daniel Radcliffe running alongside someone who appears to be Harry Melling, Dudley in the Potter films. The scene looks to be where Dudley is attacked by Dementors in the chapter, "Dudley Demented," as both the Privet Drive set and a playground are close-by.

Kind of obvious when you look at the tenth picture, but yeah.

Yeah. :O

I might have to pick up Order of the Phoenix again. I haven't read it in ages. I don't remember about the Dudley Demented scene being set in such a dry and isolated location. Drought?

I just assumed it's happening at that Privet Drive playground we saw in Prisoner of Azkaban.

You never know. A lot of night shots are shot during the day and altered to look like night...and the angle could be mixed in with other shots to produce an enviroment similar to the one we saw in PoA...but then again they could have gotten it all wrong.

why doesnt harry potter have his own forum?

No Weasley is our King storyline in OOTP

Bad news for those who are looking forward to a good grudge match in the Order of the Phoenix film next summer! We've been informed that there is no storyline in the movie surrounding Ron's Quidditch hardships, nor has there been any filming on broomsticks done by Rupert. We're led to believe that this means there will be no Quidditch in the fifth film at all. We hope to learn more soon!

Quidditch isn't important to the main plot of the story, so I could care less. We've seen it before.

Hopefully, they'll use one of the Qudditch matches from HPB in the film adaption. It'd be nice to hear Luna's commentary over the match. :o

Yep.

About HBP: I really hope they keep the scene whee Draco punches/fights (can't remember) Harry on the train. I want to see Harry get hurt from something other than magic
