The Official TIH Critic's Review Thread

Basically, Marvel ran too far in the opposite direction. They made a fanboy Hulk movie that is damn good but doesn't reach out to anyone other than people that like action movies or Hulk.

Batman Begins didn't run in the opposite direction of Batman and Robin. It made a movie closer to Burton's version in terms of Batman but with a stronger emotional core.

Also, being one of the most popular heroes on Earth, people were more willing to give it a second chance, imo.

I think this is too much of an alarmist post hear

Crtically it is pretty well recieved it has a 68 on rottentomatoes which is way higher than about 80 percent of comic book movies, and score putting it close to SR, SM1, X1 and guess what? from top critics it actually is only 4 percent behind Batman Begins, the hallowed ground of superhero movies

Its not like this movie has no story or character development it just takes a back seat to setting up cool action scene. I don't fully endorse the move and i think if they would have just let Norton have his cut all problems would be cured and it would be right up their with Iron Man and BB in the top tier of superhero movies.

It is grossing like a normal summer action movie would. Its no bust and its no boom, which no one could have naively hoped for a boom, instead the producers where vehemently praying it wouldn't be a bust, and it wasn't. this is a character and movie that is reaping the benift of their hard work, and really this movie is just a big trailer for Hulk 2 and the Avengers. Both of those movies will make a lot more than this movie made because of TIH's hard work and dilligance at bringing a good movie.

imo this movie is the 4th best 1st movie slightly behind spider-man, and if the crap that was X-Men can deliver a movie like X2 I have complete faith that Hulk 2 will be amazing

SM1 was really well received. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/spiderman/

It has a rating of 90%.

I watched the movie in theatres and I must say that it is a step-up from the previous Hulk movie.

I much perfer Edward Norton as the new Bruce Banner. His character is much more enjoyable to see on screen and his voice doesn't sound monotonous or monotone. He did an excellent job with the acting and made it very realistic.

The visual special effects were much better, the action was of higher quality, excitment and, of course, romance. The Hulk could actually talk, which I liked, and the whole anatomy was much improved.

II like the whole storyline of the movie and the concept. There were a few cliche moments - the shower, and the rain scene.

Other than that, I thought it was a pretty sufficent movie, and I'm definately enthralled by the sequel to follow this one. I'll especially like to see Iron Man in it, and I thought it was a nice touch to add Stark in the end for a cliffhanger.
Very well done, and I'm looking forward to the next one.
8.5-9/10

I saw the film twice when it was released in theaters and watched it again last night on DVD. I think the film will stand up to repeat viewings much better than Ang Lee's Hulk. I've watched the Lee Hulk 5-6 times since it came out and with later viewings I find myself skipping the more laborious sections of the film. I also become less and less enamoured with the Hulk 'look' and general CGi the more I watch it.

After watching TIH for the third time, I've actually begun to notice a lot more of the subtle nuances given to the CGi Hulk and the great look they gave him, which is much less flabby and more lean than the original film.

Asides from the cosmetics, I also love Norton's performance as Banner; he becomes a much more sympathetic character than Bana's version, which is consistent with the original TV Series which this film drew heavily from.

It's still not perfect, but I would raise my original score of around 7/10 to at least 8/10.

I thought it was a great Hulk film. Completely blew away the sad, sad Ang Lee film. The problem is...unlike other superhero films, the Hulk just doesn't draw in the crowd that the other heroes draw in. I knew someone who loves superhero movies (she's not a comic fan) but had zero interest in anything Hulk related.
