Ed Norton and Liv Tyler are going to be presenters at the MTV awards. So much for people thinking Ed doesn't want to promote this movie.

I'm sure there'll be a press junket, a red carpet screening and the whole nine yards for this movie.

People have to remember Norton is a big part of the post production and that's what's been taking his time.

Whats this? Norton Promoting? Naaahhh, he's supposed to hate the movie, havn't you heard?

Guano guys- "Oh noes, if he's promoting, it must be going to suckz!"

That's really good news, they'll be a large amount of people watching those awards......not me personally.

They're really going on a marketing blitz right now at marvel, a hulk tour bus in Manhattan, posters popping up everywhere, statues in theaters, and I'm even seeing the tv spots on nation tv now, I think after Indy this weekend it'll explode. I'm hyped!

Surprised haven't seen anything from K-Mart for their big promotion.

Called Burger King today to see if I could get a pic of the toys but they haven't called back yet.

Well, Burger King had Iron Man, they've got something with Indy too right? I'd bet Hulk stuff starts a week after Memorial Day, give Indy a week after release before shifiting focus to Hulk.

I think Indy is what they have been waiting for. A bit of waste having the cast promote Hulk when all the immediate anticipation is for the formidable Dr. Jones & Co,.
Once this weekend is out of the way I can see the cast doing all the usual rounds soon enough.

Haha.

The entire year leading up to 2003's Hulk I watched people complain about a "lack of promotion" for Hulk. 4 weeks out from the film everything starts coming out, toys, ads, trailers, tv spots, new website, promos, HBO first looks, video game behind the scenes', etc. Then appearances by the stars maybe 2 weeks out leading all the way up to the release.

The entire year leading up to 2008's The Incredible Hulk I watched people complain about a "lack of promotion" for TIH. 4 weeks out from the film everything starts coming out, toys, ads, trailers, tv spots, new website, promos, HBO first looks, video game behind the scenes' etc. Then appearances by the stars maybe 2 weeks out leading all the way up to the release.

Yep.

And I am sure that is when we will get new footage such as the Arctic scene that Leterrier say they will "leak" to the internet. And then I'm sure we will get those full reviews from sites who saw that Hulk footage at Universal.

I saw the BIG (and I mean BIG) Hulk ad on 42nd and 7th today, and it looks INCREDIBLE (heh). Also, every other cab I saw had a picture of the green goliath on its top.

The marketing has seriously kicked into high gear!

I'm just happy that this time Burger King will not push the Hulk out to only Central and South America and Europe.

Great point and thanks for the info.

I wonder how many MTV awards will Incredible Hulk be up for next year at this time? Best Fight & Best Movie for sure. Do Liv and Hulk kiss at any point?

(Yes, these awards are silly but Hulk's main demographic eats them up.)

Here's the big question I have now. Do general moviegoers know that this is not a sequel to the 2003 movie and that it's not connected to it at all?

They have no clue. This is the biggest problem the movie has. People don't want to see it cause the first "sucked".

So it doesn't really matter if it's a sequel or not, people are just hesitant and confused when it comes to this movie.

This movie will either completely bomb or be a smashing success, I really don't see any middle ground for it.

I agree that I don't think most people know that it is unrelated to the last film. But I don't think you can make that clear in trailers and TV spots. If you attempt to send that message in that manner, it will just confuse people. It's probably better to just not acknowledge the last in order to put some distance between the films. I think the best way to get that message out is when the cast starts hitting the interview circuit. They can then field that question properly. I'm pretty sure that's how it will be handled.

But on top of that, do we really think this issue is going to handicap the film the way people on these boards are so paniced about? I don't think so. The way the adds are shaping up, I think that any bad taste that Ang's movie might have left with people is being washed out.

So are you saying without that co2 that people still are NOT confused about this movie at all?

I love it!
I want to see the cast htting the road soon. I'd like to hear Norton talk about the project. He has such a serious attitude about his work that I think will give instant credibility to the movie in the public's eyes.

Yeah I can't wait until the cast start making their rounds.

I understand that Norton has another Interview about the Hulk in the next edition of Total Film.

It's funny that Marvel Studio's is not making any real strides to distance the two movies. In all the Comic Con interviews with Kevin Feige and Gale Hurd, they seemed to be vague when the subject was bought up. Almost like they didn't want to offend anyone.

Really?

Where you hear that?

If true then it shows Norton is promoting this movie and does not have a feud with Marvel as some have suggested.

But Norton is being careful on who he decides to have his interviews with, he has declined requests from many and only accepted to be interviewed with Total Film twice.

Maybe they're trying to fool us, let everyone see how good the movie is, it becomes a success then spring it on us it actually was a sequel :oldrazz:.

He's likely choosing people that'll not twist his words and try and make out there was a huge feud.

Well, no I didn't say that exactly, but now that you mention it... I think that at this point most people think that it IS a sequel, so people don't really feel confused. They are just ignorant to the facts.
I think having a completely different cast does make a statement to people. That does help seperate it from the last film in the public's mind, which was part of Marvel's strategy from the beginning. Once Norton, Tyler and company hit the rounds and make a statement about that it will be made clear.

I have the feeling people complaining about this being a sequel need to watch more James Bond films.

I read it on one of these boards from a short taken from the last issue of Total Film. If I find it, I'll link it.

I wouldn't put it past them. It'll help them sell all those extra copies of 2003 Hulk laying around. :woot:
