Omg.. I can't believe you posted that. The Pieta is my favorite work of art ever. It's one of my lifelong dreams to go see it one day. I'm not a religious person in any sense, but that sculpture is simply perfection.

I love that too, I think that is probably my favorite sculpture after his David....

Oh Pat! Oh Pat! There are no words...but YES, blue is a wonderful "color".

The following is from DTS's (http://www.devotedtosmallville.com/)home page this morning:

"Kristin Kreuk is ranked number 18 in AskMen’s Top 99 Most Desirable Women for 2005. The annual list is based on votes cast by AskMen readers and staff and has been viewed by more than 15 million readers since its launch in 2001.

WHY SHE IS FAMOUS:
She steals the spotlight from teen heartthrob Tom Welling (man, do we ever hate that guy) weekly in Smallville."

That is only a partial excerpt but seriously, I've NEVER thought Kristin has stolen the spotlight from Tom Welling. I will absolutely agree with her being a beautiful woman, but stealing the spotlight?? Who wrote that!

I'm such a lucky guy. I can see it whenever I want. I prefer the Moses, however.

You're right, he probably was! :D
It's kinda driven home by that skin-tight T-shirt, eh? LOL

You know, that second photo makes me think of Michelangelo's Pieta sculpture at St. Peter's.
Indeed, now that you mention it, it does.

GMTA. You bolded the exact points I was going to. :)

I wonder if they were kidding about the hating TW part though.. in a "we're just incredibly jealous" kinda way?

Hee! Wellllll... there may be some truth there, but they were probably just kidding. A little. ;)

That said, Zing is aptly named because he was the uncontested King of Zing over in the Supes' forums when male posters would get on Welling's nuts for his appearance. Oh, some of those posts were absolutely hysterical. LMFAO!!!

I'd love to see Michelangelo's and Da Vinci's and the other Masters works in person. Go to Rome and Venice, and maybe down to Pompeii.

Not really in a good sitch to do much world travel, but I would love to someday.

You can avoid Pompei and go to Florence instead to see the David(s). And many other wonderful things.

Well, I'd still like to go to Pompeii because of the historical and archealogical stuff down there, but Florence too would be great, of course. I'd love to see David.

Do you think that Florence is a great place to visit? What else is there besides the art works?

The Florentine steak? What are you looking for? The landscape in Tuscany are wonderful as you can see from that crappy movie with Diane Lane. Florence, Lucca, Pisa (with its famous tower) are full of castles, churches and palaces that date back to the middle ages, especially the Reinassance years (late 1400 - mid 1500). And if you like Sting, he has a big mansion in the countryside in Tuscany now.

I dunno, that's why I asked.... ;)

Actually, I really liked that crappy movie with Diane Lane... it was romantic.

I don't like Sting, but old castles, palaces and a beautiful countryside always sound good. I love visiting places like that... Prolly has really good food and great wine, too. That's always a bonus. ;)

Doesn't George Clooney have a house in Tuscany?

I thought I'd read he'd hang out there with his buddies while making Oceans 12, which (from what I heard) is a very crappy movie...

No, he has a house (actually, now he owns three houses) in Laglio, on the Lake of Como.

Three houses? That's a bit over the top, init? Unless they're small, I guess, and he uses them as guest houses...

Antonello Blueberry said:
No, they are big and he uses two of them as guest houses for all his friends.

Well, I guess if you have all that money what else can you do with it beside entertain your friends in huge houses in the Italian countryside... ;)

Must be nice.

C'yas tomorrow, folks! :D

This probably sounds weird, but last night I had a dream in which I was watching a scene in a movie theatre between TW and Erica Durance as Superman and Lois. She was running from someone in a field and Superman (TW) swoops down and saves her. There was some witty banter that I don't remember. Anyway, just thought I'd share.

Some interesting bits from Variety:
Smallville

By ADDIE MORFOOT, Thurs., Jan. 20, 2005, 10:00pm PT

Not even ABC's "Lost," the new skein that had proved to be kryptonite against other series, can slow down "Smallville."

Ratings for the Clark Kent-turned-Superman show has maintained its lofty ratings in this season's Wednesday night battle, up against the J.J. Abrams "Survivor"-like drama.

"Smallville" creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar say the series has been a great fit for the Frog since launching in 2001.

"It was a coming-of-age story but it just happened to be about a superhero," Gough explains. "So you had the action-adventure element as well as the family element."

However, getting a 13-episode commitment took some convincing.

"I think initially there was some skepticism when they first heard the idea: Superman's high school years. They wanted to know how that would play out and what the execution should be," Gough says.

"What interested us and the network was how somebody becomes a hero and, conversely with Lex Luthor, how does somebody become a villain that didn't start out bad? It's interesting in how you can make that journey."

Oddly enough, many "Smallville" fans aren't all that aware of either the Christopher Reeve films or the George Reeves series (1952-57).

"We never got notes (from the network) saying, 'This is going to be boring because everybody already knows Clark Kent.' What we found is that most of the audience that watch the WB were not familiar with Superman at all," Gough recalls.

"We did a pilot test and in the middle there was a glitch in the tape and the boys had to tell the girls they were watching Superman. The girls had no idea."

Lokomon, I copy and pasted this story over at KSite. There hasn't been an awful lot of responses, however one poster wrote the following:

"In the Starlog mag Each month, they do a brief preview of what's upcoming for sci-fi series currently on the air and in the March issue for Smallville, it simply says "Smallville. 8 PM Wednesday. WB. In ratings decline."

It is contradictory information like this that always keeps me in a state of confusion as to whether or not Smallville is or is not doing well in the ratings. Does anyone have any information to share regarding these 2 completely different sources of information?

Nothing yet... maybe this weekend.

EDIT: they've totally discounted that variety report... They've got such a skewed viewpoint, Smallville is going down in flames since Clana is over, it's hardly worth having a discussion over there.

I tend to trust Variety more than Starlog for the simple fact that V is an industry rag that is published daily. Like Pat said, industry heads don't pay as much attention to total numbers like fans do. Comparatively, SV is still a successful show. It'll never out do juggernauts like American Idol or Lost simply because FOX and ABC are major networks, whereas WB is a smaller network with less overall viewers and less affiliates nationwide. That being said, Unsafe actually BEAT OUT NBC's SI Swimsuit Model show in the much-coveted 18 to 49 demo. That is a big deal! Don't worry. Even if "total viewers" decline, it actually doesn't mean SV is doing worse. It's all relative. And I'll say again, the way networks calculate and measure ratings is an inexact science.

Contrary to the doom and gloom mongers, its ratings are very much on a par with last season. Last season it was #1 in many of the demos, this year it's second only to Lost in a number of them. Last year it got between 6.5 million and 4.5 million viewers per episode, this year ditto.

It can't be repeated often enough that it used to get between 6 and 8 million IN A DIFFERENT TIMESLOT. Since moving it has held steady with what it has now, and, oddly enough, WB are happy with that because it still has around a quarter more viewers than Dawson's Creek had it this timeslot.
