YES. PLEASE!!! People just want to be left alone to discuss TW-related topics here. Please?

that Welling will never be Superman in a movie?
As Serene so aptly put it in a subsequent post, bite me! We have no idea what Warner Bros. may or may not be planning (though we can speculate). We have no clue how good or bad SV will do in its fifth season (though we can take some educated guesses.) And most importantly, we have no FREAKIN' clue what TW's true feelings are (NOW!) about his interest or disinterest in taking his character - along with the rest of the cast and crew - to a TV or feature film. Saying that he will never be Superman in a movie is like us saying... umm... [Pat thinks of something that will sting and cement her reputation once and for all]... that Routh will be the worst Superman ever to don the tights.

Gosh, that felt good! :p

Point is, we DON'T KNOW!!! We can only state our *opinions* of what we *think* MIGHT be the case based on all available information. And Welling's LAST public comments about the subject were completely vague: "...It's the kind of situation where if you speak about it you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. I'd rather be damned if I don't."
- Dreamwatch, #127, April 2005.

I'm moving on now. That okay with you peeps? Good!!! Glad to hear it.

Absofreakin'lutely!

One of my favorite scenes from Phoenix (probably my favorite episode ever of SV) was where Clark "lost it" temporarily with Morgan Edge. Edge comes back looking for the package Clark stole for him (the vile of blood, which Jonathan destroyed), and Clark tells Edge he doesn't have it. Edge threatens to call the police on Clark and Clark snaps like a twig in the wind. He pulls the door off Edge's car, yanks Edge out bodily, tells him to leave, and warns him NEVER to come back to Smallville again. (This all takes place while Edge's driver holds a pistol to Clark's head - as if that would stop him LOL.) ;)

phoenix2.jpg

Okay, so the best part is right after Edge pulls away. There's this glowing satisfaction on Clark's face - as if he ENJOYED roughing Edge up and flagrantly showing that he had the might to beat the crap out of both men regardless of their petty firepower to resist. The expression lasts for about a second. Then Clark realizes what *could* have happened, and his expression quickly changes to one of concern. The change from his intoxication of power to last minute restraint was subtle and well-acted. Nicely done!!

Nighters folks! Catch ya on the flip side.

lo and behold, I actually agree with Pat on that last one :)

and those are some of the most supermanly pics of Welling I've seen, honestly.

However, much as I might like the scene, I dunno if it's safe to assume that Smallville writers/directors are the ONLY ones capable of crafting such a scene, nor is Welling the only actor capable of playing it. He/They did do a nice job of it, though.

Yeah, I have a real way with words. I'm like a poet really.

I love that scene too. I do have to laugh at the blooper though. Even though Clark rips off the door and throws it, when Edge gets back in the car, the door is suddenly there again. LOL..

Soooo... Para does a long and rambling post that seems, in essence, to be saying "You deserve what you get, now accept it and shut up!"

To quote him: That [sic] biggest load of bull and you know it.

Hmm, I had time to spare...

Link to my reply so that people aren't forced to read it unless they want to.

I've been reading the boards for far longer than I've been a member, so yes, let's paint the whole picture from every angle, including those that Para missed.

I can go 'round and 'round in circles on things like this for eternity.

Yes, I absolutely love that scene and that episode! Very suerpmanly and very well acted, I totally agree.

Brilliant scene. Perfectly sets up the confrontation that happens later in the barn.... Edge is a man who doesn't like not having the upper hand.

Brilliant.

Good night and thanks for the post. I love that episode, it's one of my faves.

I watched it just this past weekend to help me get over a certain upset I had a few days back.

Nothing better to deal with stress than watching some well acted and well written TV that also happens to include scenes where Tom takes his shirt off!

LOL!

(Yeah, I can be shallow. What of it?)

Well damn, James. I don't ever want to be across the bench from you in a court of law. ;) Pretty thorough argument there, complete with detailed points. Nice job.

The only thing I don't agree on is your comment about the posters at B.T. I may not agree with the bulk of them on the most prominent topic, but I consider most of them very decent, likeable people. The forum has gotten a little too hot for me anymore, but I have to say that no one ever gave me grief while I was there for being a SV/TW supporter.

I think that calls for trip's famous merry-go-round picture. :)

The same can't be said for me, main reason why I stopped going over there after about say last October sometime....

Heh. A pathetic little idiot (formerly of SHH!) who shall remain unnamed reported me to Justin and got me a warning. Why ? Because after he insulted me -- and I didn't report him for it -- I actually dared to insult him back.

Someone can dish it out but not take it... wuss that he is.

And that seems to be a problem the BT board has as a whole.

I like Justin. I like the main site. But the board is Godawful, and I'm not apologetic for saying so.

No one's asking you to be sweetie. ;)

Here, have a cookie. I promise, I didn't bake them.

I love you, too James. :)

Oh, I certainly would. I'm not scared to speak my mind, as evidenced here. I just don't like BT much; Justin is great, the main site is too, but the board is full of Hype rejects with a superiority complex. I'm happy to let them wallow in their own quagmire, thanks muchly.

Come now James... that's just rude.

It is. But so is the treatment I've been given by member(s) of your board, so... I'm sorry, but it's how I feel. It's not your fault.

No, it's the truth. I felt the same way.

But like James said, it's not your fault. The whole vibe over there is so anti-Welling it's not even funny.

Once you're known as a Welling/Smallville fan everyone over there seems to have this instant dislike of you.

It's just the way it seems to me, and others I suppose, so I don't peruse your forums at all anymore.

The dislike for me over there stems not from liking Tom and Smallville, but from my daring to say I don't think the movie is looking all that great. And also from pointing out when certain anally-retentive people are completely wrong about something... *ahem*

It's not a matter of being a fan of one thing over another, it's a matter of not falling into line like a good little soldier. Kinda like the Supes forum over here on SHH!, actually...

Keep in mind that there are people like Frantik, TW4Supes, Hulk, and until recently myself, that post there. Granted, notsomuch in the SR threads, but certainly in the Community or SV threads. We all make our choices of where we feel most comfortable though, and sometimes things change.

I've yet to find a place more comfortable than here (in Supes/SV fandom). I think it's the high quality popcorn and the Drooling thread. :D

(and it's not like k-site wants me. Maybe I should go burn a bridge at DTS too. I'm becoming an expert at it. ;))

yeah, I've been trying to crack down on it a bit. The war's just so thick that it's tough, cause you get the anti-welling guys calm, then one person will come in and scream "ROUTH is a TR0L7 a&d W3LLIINg Shuuld B SuppahMan!" and it all goes to hell. And no, that's not in reference to any of you(from the last couple posts), but you must admit there are posters like that who stir the pot unnecessarily.

The vibe here is anti-routh, the vibe there tends to be anti-welling. I do what I can, but I do just wish everyone on both sides would relax and grow up about the whole subject.

If it'll help, I'll post my topless shots at the Planet SV forum. . . ;)

nah, it just sucks, cause I really am a big huge fat nerdy smallville fan. I wish there was more discussion of it at The Planet.

The saddest part of the whole Routh vs. Welling arguments is that a vast majority of the people in this particular forum do their best to forget about the movie entirely most of the time. The arguments such as this one (and Pat's comment that caused the major meltdown) are, more often than not, caused by someone posting pictures of Routh and saying, "Haha! Look how great he is..."

Most of us haven't posted on the Supes forum for months because we just don't want to know.

Maybe Brandon will be great, and the movie will be too, but I'm at the point where I don't even particularly care. Not caring doesn't cause an argument until someone attempts to force you to care.

True, but you guys weren't over there enough to justify me spending time over there. All my online free-time is taken up by here and DTS... something had to give and I got some flak a time or two, so that one dropped off my radar.

(I probably didn't mean to say that there weren't good people over there, there are, but the trolls by far outnumber the good people once you wander outside the SV forums.)

Hey, you want me to PM Craig for you? You can't PM if you can't get on the forums, right?

I don't know if I have any pull, I'm just a glorified volunteer really, but it couldn't hurt.

Absolutely there are pot stirrers on both sides of the fence.
I do give you credit for trying, especially lately, I have noticed :). I don't envy your position in the slightest. I'm not sure it's a winnable battle, but maybe you should just aim to minimize the bloodshed.

Well yeah, there is that. But there is and will continue to be grousing about Routh here, I guarantee it (hell, I'll probably be part of it). Just as I'm sure Welling bashing will continue over yonder. People have to be able to air their griefs, they just need to do it in the right place.. or else suffer the consequences. Accepting responsibility for your own posts.. that's sorta grown up. :)

Nah, thanks though. I think after 3 emails, several weeks, and public complaining here, the situation is pretty obvious. The ***** of it is, I was defending that very site not so long ago.. I read to damn many forums as is anyway.

Thanks for the popcorn though. :D
