Days of Future Past The official X-men First Class BD/DVD thread

Kmart has this for 19.99. I don't like the Target cover art or care about combo packs , so looks like I'll be buying a blu ray from kmart for the first time.

Thanks for the heads up. I went and got my copy there.

can someone scan target and kmart coverarts. are they different?

Well as an update, I was on hold for 30 minutes and never got to a live person. My lunch ended before I had a chance so I sent them a second email and maybe someone might get back to me.
If anyone hears anything regarding Fox Connect please share.

I called a couple hours ago and was able to get through. I talked to a representative named David, and he told me the Blu-ray and t-shirt were shipped separately. I'm not sure I buy that, and it doesn't make up for the second the day shipping I paid for, but we'll see.

Having watched the supplement material, you could make a strong case that every deleted scene/extended scene should've stayed in the film. Every damn one of the scenes is finished.

The training scenes are essentially extended and because they are used in a montage within the film, you can't really place those back in but they've all got great little nuggets within them.

And yeah, they're all about X-Men and X2 in the supplement material. I think the Last Stand got mentioned maybe twice...maybe.

I disagree. In particular, there are 3 scenes that don't work at all and I'm so glad they took out:
-Erik in the airport (leaving this in would remove the importance of the satellite scene)
-the SECOND Moira/Charles scene. I like the first one because it gives them some flirtation and it gives Moira some character (courage of her convictions). The second one is sudden and useless and cheapens her character. They go from cheesy pickup line repeat to making out... what?
-The Alex/Charles scene where he yells at Alex for having out of control powers. This is so un-Charles.

The rest are fine I think. I especially like the Banshee scenes and Dragneto. But I understand why they cut them... the timing works better without them.

My blue ray disc didn't work in my PS3 :( I'm going to have to return the disc tomorrow as I think it's defective.

I skipped this in theaters and just picked up the Blu-Ray on a whim. It was much better than I expected!

Lots of nice eye candy too! :yellow:

apparently there are issues with the blu ray version being played on ps3. read on the ps3 forum to try and delete all the filed in BD utility folder and restart the ps3

Sooooooooo I bought the one disc/dvd version of the movie today and noticed that it had a certified fresh Rotten Tomatoes sticker on it. That honestly reeks of desperation if you ask me.

It's also in the commercials. Would not be surprised if it starts a new trend. Just like the Academy stickers "Academy Award winning, blah blah blah...." Any new angle a studio can find to sqeeze every last drop out of their product.

That being said, I can't wait to watch it again, the best comic film of the summer.

Thanks for posting this. The movie never loaded, so I took my copy back and got another... Same thing happened. Then I tried what you said and deleted the files on the BD Utility Folder and it worked. It still took about 5 minutes to load. I hope they plan on making a patch for this soon.

There's a Certified Fresh Sticker on the seal on Blu Rays for crying out loud! lmao

I've never seen a RT sticker on movies...guess that's new.

FOX must be really happy to be certified fresh again. It's been a while.

Thanks a million, it did the trick!

yeah same thing happened to my copy. also after deleting the files, turn off the BD internet. i think it may have to do with whatever the disc downloads when you first play it

Was searching through cerebro files and found that they consider xmen origins wolverine within canon of this movie. (look at Emmas profile!)

I don't think it's desperation at all it's just Fox adding a review to their dvd cover like every other studio does. Alot of people (even around here) treat Rotten Tomatoes like the word of God when it comes to movies and will dislike a movie before they even see it because the great Tomatometer tells them to so I don't blame Fox one bit for sticking that on the dvd's

It's really no different than putting a critic blurb across the top, to be honest.

Picked up my blu-ray this morning! I couldn't decide which cover I wanted, but I was getting another copy for my dad anyway, so I got both of them and I'll figure out which one I'm keeping for me later. :oldrazz:

I agree--not all the deleted scenes work and the ones you mentioned are definitely ones I'm glad didn't make the cut. I'm not big on the Dragneto scene (funny but a little too silly for me), but the Banshee ones I enjoyed; however, I agree the timing probably works better without them. The only deleted scene I wish they'd kept was the Charles/Moira scene where she mentally tells him off. Hehe--that was funny. :)

I got the DVD, not the Blu-ray, so I don't have all the cool features. :( BUT, the opening menu with the Magneto music and the clipped scenes put together looks AWESOME. It also reminds me just how great the music for this movie was--the best of the series, IMO. I really hope the same composer comes back for the sequel. Just fantastic stuff there.

I noticed when watching it on the PS3, it glitches quite a bit for the first 15-20 minutes then it doesn't do it anymore. It's really annoying. (This is after deleting the BD Utility Folder files and all that stuff.)

Anyone know if they plan on fixing this issue? :(

Target exclusive.

Sounds like I'll be returning my Blu-ray copy tomorrow and picking this up then, thanks.

I didn't open it yet, having a feeling that there was a combo pack out there somewhere.

-R

I must just be lucky because it works just fine on my PS3.
