All these positive reviews have me extra excited.![]()
This is going to be a slow two weeks damn it.
Everything I've seen and heard has me pumped and thinking this will be the best X-men film yet. The only thing that would put me over the top is if there's a fairly good team battle on the beach. All mutants fighting together like the comics and not split up doing one on ones.
Ya I'm really stoked for this. I have not been this excited for an X film since 2003. I'm really liking what I'm hearing. (plus the Fassbender effect makes things more awesome) But I'm going off the grid for this until the midnight showing, I know very little about this film (rare that that happens to me anymore) so I want to go in fully surprised about everything.
Well I disagree with this reviewer's comments on X-Men and X2.Considering how much
I dislike Grant Morrison's run on X-Men I am going to let the Morrison go.But he IS making a mistake bringing up Emma Frost to the Emma In Wolverine. And by know we pretty much know First Class Is only connected to X-Men and X2.
I was no fan of his run on New X-men.But the morrison run on New X-men can cause
agreements between those who love his work and those who didn't like his run with X-Men.
I wouldn't call Morrison's run juvenile. Like it or hate it, it was pretty ambitious. I liked some of it, but he made it overly complicated and sometimes unreadable. I hated cat-Beast at first, but now I kinda love it. I dunno why. And I will forever be grateful for him giving Emma the personality that she has now. Without that, Whedon could not have done the amazing things he did with her character. It's unfortunate that others can't write her as well. However, the artwork during his run was atrocious. Frank Quitely got better over time and Phil Jimenez did well, but it was just so inconsistent.Agreements or arguments? I HATED Morrison's work on X-Men. His juvenile run (and Austen's work) actually made me stop reading the books for a while. I literally jumped for joy when he left the book and was even more happy that his stupidity would be DC exclusive from there on out. I only pray that it's a lifetime DC contract. I dislike "secondary mutations" and the characters the sprang from that run but can tolerate them. That's not exactly saying much. Joss Whedon turned everything around nicely and even found a way for Disney Beast to work. I'm betting Singer and company will do the same with diamond Emma and a more catlike Beast.
Still, I've never cared if a film stayed 100% true to the books as long as they stay true to the spirit I'm fine. Loved what Singer did in X1/X2.
I wouldn't call Morrison's run juvenile.
I do and I always will. But not here to talk books...

"First Class contains some of the briskest and most efficient storytelling Ive seen in any recent blockbuster"
"X-Men: First Class does not forget what came before, in fact there are nods to it throughout, both fun and terribly sad, but fresh faces have breathed new life into familiar characters and their battle for acceptance has an added touch of humanity."
These reviews are revving my engine to unbelievable levels.
You know some snobby critic is going to say it takes itself too seriously or some other bulls--t.Wonder how many bad ones we'll get once the embargo is lifted Wednesday. I'm hoping none but I know that's too much to ask.
Well, there were a good dozen+ people who saw this movie that provided some level of feedback on it very despite the embargo...and so far, none of them had anything strongly negative to say about the movie. You know some snobby critic is going to say it takes itself too seriously or some other bulls--t.

One of the reviewers said that the embargo was not on content of the review and FOX never told them what they could or could not say. So it wasn't a case of "you don't like it, ok you can't say anything yet". I think a bunch of them were allowed to write up short reviews, and their reviews were not screened by FOX. It seemed like more of an honor system that they didn't write too much because the preview reviews ranged from short blurbs to pretty lengthy write-ups.Wonder how many bad ones we'll get once the embargo is lifted Wednesday.
