BvS The Official Zack Snyder Directs Everything Thread - Part 2

I thought it was redundant, because we had just seen Nolan do this same exact scene not very long ago in 2005 (and better). I also liked Burton's version better. Burton focused on the horror and dread, Nolan on the randomness and sudden pointless brutality. Snyder was doing what he always does: showing off fancy slow motion and elaborate close-ups followed by CGI effects.

Quite frankly, that was the first moment where I was watching the movie and went "oh dear" since none of the emotion was there. Then the Man of Steel ending happened from Batman's POV, and I got back into the movie. At least until the brief introduction of Jimmy Olsen and then it was all downhill from there.

Halfway through that scene I knew where the movie was headed storytelling wise. BvS is like the antithesis to MOS. Snyder felt restrained from Snyderisms in MOS and he was balls to the wall himself in this one. Almost felt like some of the best scenes (Bruce/Metropolis) were directed by someone else.

Mark my words. Zack Snyder may be the "director" of JL but he will not be in total control this time. WB is going to intervene or hire someone to intervene. That is a 100% fact. They've already committed to a Zack Snyder JL movie and it starts filming in a week so the only thing they can do now is bring in a Producer or consultant of sorts to steer the movie in the direction they want it to go.

We may be looking at a Josh Trank v. Fox type of situation here.

Isnt that what Terrio was brought in for? Spoon feed snyder a good story? That didn't work out as planned.

I hope so. It's probably better than the JL:M scenario.

Then just bring in someone else entirely because that situation turned into a train wreck. Justice League doesn't need that kind of negative attention.

And we saw just how well that went.

If you're not confident in your director to manage things on their own, get someone else. No one wants a Frankenstein-level monstrosity.

Doesn't matter how good your ingredients, sous chef or line cooks are if the Chef is a mess at the conceptual level

Terrio wrote a script off of what Snyder and WB wanted to do with the movie.

Granted, it was not a great script, but that's to be expected when they tried to cram two stories into one.

I think Terrio was just simply out of his realm. He wasn't familiar with the characters and tried to write them into a sort of dark, psychological thriller.

This. I'd rather they just get George Miller, or Ben Affleck to direct JL :csad:

I would prefer they not bring in Miller, after Fury Road.

I would hate to see Batman reduced to a slobbering, rabid, incompetent fool, like Max was in the film. And the sheer load of high octane cheese would kill the franchise.

Batman, no...but the people in Apokolips' ghetto?

If they're going to Apokolips at some point, Miller's a solid choice for that stuff. High-octane or otherwise.

unlike Snyder, Miller can do real drama like Lorenzo's Oil.

Is it true Snyder has a clause in his contract that he still gets a multi-million dollar paycheck if removed from JL?

It wouldn't surprise me. He's still a producer.

If his agent was smart there would definitely be a payment clause in his contract should he be removed.

^ I'm okay with Snyder as producer if he's just putting his stylistic handiwork over another person's film. Wonder Woman looks like an example of that (with that shield slow-mo)

I had not considered the Apokolips side of the narrative.

It...would actually be perfect, for that scenario/narrative.

Kind of like the S/B: Apocalypse film.

I am still fuming over Fury Road.

Yeah that bothered me too. No characterization or backstory and a waste of Hardys talent. You could've swapped him out with any decent actor. Theron was more Max than Max.

That was kind of the point, though. He had to sort of find his way back to sanity and compassion, and she sort of illustrated who he'd been beforehand in a sense.

This makes no sense at all. It's not like George Miller would just put every aspect of Fury Road into his Justice League movie.

You can relax, though. Miller won't direct Justice League. It's all wishful thinking.

Writers have very little say in how there scripts are translated to the big screen. In movies directors have all the power and WB is big on letting them have creative control.

Except for the first film, Max is not the protagonist of any of these movies. He is merely an outsider that witnesses the events. Fury Road was not unique in that regard. And Miller is a visual storyteller that Snyder could never hope to be in a million years

^ Depends on the movie and studio.

I do think Terrio could've written the story better, but Snyder's ultimately responsible for the vision we see on screen.
