You are just listing all the directors. Not sure how that is proof of anything.

Are you even familiar with the story of how the Russo's got hired? They had nothing on their resume suggesting they were up for this gig, it was literally JUST their passion for Cap, particularly Ed Brubaker's version, that convinced Feige to give them a chance.

Who was actually for hire though? Snyder. Nolan went to at least five other directors before going to Snyder because they turned it down. Plus, Snyder was first unsure of even taking it.

Sounds like Wonder Woman. I MEAN Flash. I MEAN Batman. I MEAN Justice League.

Yeah F. Gary Gray dropped out of consideration to do Straight Outta Compton.

Yep. Just being obtuse for the sake of arguing. Nothing to see here

Which was followed by what I said, lol.

I think it tends to get overblown the comic credentials of directors. Everyone hired has to give a interview were they talk about the love for the characters, what there favorite issues are or have to tweet photos of them in comic book shops.

whether they were the first choice or not i am confident in majority of the dcu directors

david ayer, patty jenkins and james wan are good storytellers first and foremost

I remember Snyder saying some stuff about Superman before getting the job. I can't seem to find it anywhere, though.

Comic-Con wrap-up: Are superheroes done for?

Of course, as this summer and this comic-book convention have unfolded, it has become clear that no one is Superman anymore. Perhaps, says Watchmen director Zack Snyder, Superman is gone for good.

"They asked me to direct a Superman movie, and I said no," Snyder says. "He's a tricky one nowadays, isn't he? He's the king daddy of all comic-book heroes, but I'm just not sure how you sell that kind of earnestness to a sophisticated audience anymore."

Speaking of Comi Con, I wonder how people will react to him. Should be very interesting.

He ain't gonna show. I doubt they'll have any DC Film stuff this year unless it's something big for SS like a premiere

You don't think they'll do a WW panel/footage?

Just get the people responsible for Daredevil

I think Netflix are bringing out the most sophisticated mature superhero drama bar none. Look DC, that is how it is done.
It breaks my heart that my favourite hero of all time wont ever get the 'Netflix' treatment.

That quote, plus that fact that he cited The Dark Knight Returns as his all-time favorite comic before getting the MoS gig, is enough to tell me he was never much of a Superman fan honestly. And it shows, imo.

This is what he said back in '12

It's funny, when Nolan came to me and said, 'Do you want to do Superman?' I was like 'No!' " Snyder admitted. “That's a difficult one. But I felt like I knew the rules. I understand the rules of Superman -- not necessarily better than anyone else -- but better than a normal filmmaker would. After doing 'Watchmen' and digging that deep into the why of superheroes, when Superman is presented to you, I felt like I was in a unique position to say 'I get this guy. I know what this is.'

:whatever:

one thing i will say i find it a bit odd that marvel directors are always showing off the comic book research they are doing

you get the feeling that they are big fans of the source material

dont get that with DC :csad:

I'm sure Snyder does his research. He's a fanboy after all. He just doesn't understand the characters.
