And so we actually get the real reason you like BvS. You have no interest in seeing these heroes portrayed the way they should be. Go and watch Punisher or something. Or get laid.

Yeah, I usually hate when people retort to the very stupid "if you like/dislike this you're not a real fan!!!!" argument, but... if your ideal portrayal of Superman, Flash or even Wonder Woman is one that could be best described as "dark and brutal", chances are you might be investing your time into the wrong characters.

There's plenty of other material out there that will give you what you want, there's no reason to want to see usually positively portrayed characters twisted into something they are not. Snyder learned this the hard way.

Fanboys in a nutshell. :o

Jaxon in a nutshell. Death is the only way to raise the stakes.

Someone really ought to make an edit of that comic for BVS.

The reason I like the movie is because it was exciting and I love Snyders world and Batman and Superman.
Thats a pretty stupid argument to say get laid or watch something else instead of enjoying BVS just because you didn't.
No its how YOU want the heros portrayed. Zac is doing his versions and I agree with him. It doesn't matter anyway. I've won. I have the Batman v Superman movie I wanted and enjoyed it and now I get an extended version as well to enjoy too.
So yes I will get laid and enjoy watching Batman v Superman over and over.

...yes, I'm sure you do. Pity millions of moviegoers and the critics don't eh? You have an angry teenager's attitude towards this. You got what you wanted so screw everyone else. Never mind that these characters were created for children and families, and they've been screwed out of the movie they deserved. As long as you and the emo brigade get what you want, everything's good.

I'm happy about the film and its now a crime. Emo brigade.....whatever dude. I got what I wanted sorry but its true. Why should I care that others want it another way?
I took my kids and they loved it. So your point is?

My daughter had the opposite response. I foolishly took her and she went from bored to scared to bored again. She finally fell asleep about 30 mins from the end.

Zack Snyder is that you?:woot:

BVS was directed (whether intentional or not) for angry teenagers. The disgruntled youth who feel that nobody understands them. Don't worry kids, Uncle Snyder does.

Honestly the older I get there are times I really wish the likes of WATCHMEN,THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS or THE KILLING JOKE never existed in the first place.

Because their influence and legacy has been in convincing scores of cynical fanboys (some who would and will go on to be writers themselves and even, if Snyder is anything to go by, one day directors) that telling purposely inspirational and hopeful tales of superheroes(the core reason why these archetypes were created in the first place) is a fruitless and worthless endeavour.

It always seems to reach that point these days.

I understand the sentiment, but honestly, I don't think it would have changed anything. Watchmen et al didn't create the zeitgeist at the time. If it weren't those stories, it would have been some other ones. You might even get a worse scenario: What if you lose out the really great 80s iron age stories like Watchmen, but still end up with schlocky skeevy juvenile "take me seriously, boobs and blood" indulgent 90s crap comics anyway?

You have kids? Huh.

The problem is that many of those so-called youths are in their 30s, still carry around their dogeared copies of The Fountainhead and occasionally vote. Sigh.

I think that the problem isn't with stories like Watchmen, or TDKR, or TKJ, etc. The problem is with the people who came after and grew up reading them. They're "fans" who like those stories, but they miss the point of what those stories were actually about/were trying to say.

I mean Snyder apparently loves TDKR, but this movie shows that he doesn't understand what made that story work AT ALL!!

Wow, some of you guys are doing a great job of pigeonholing and stereotyping people who like BvS and Snyder.

Nothing wrong with enjoying his movies. But if you (claim to) think that his films contain certain subtleties that non-fans are incapable of seeing/appreciating, then you're either delusional or performing a "I know you are but what am I"-style deflection.

I've been seeing that around here a lot lately, and it is a bit disconcerting.

If you disliked MOS, you remember how nasty other people can be when they don't share your opinion or are in the majority. I don't think it's a behavior that should be encouraged, especially now that the tables have turned. M

I am not a fan of Snyder, and I would be happy to see him replaced by a more competent figurehead. However, I would never shame or behaving condescendingly toward someone who feels the opposite.

But I also agree that it's stupid for people to be told that they're stupid for not liking the movie, as if it's some cinematic masterpiece that only the most enlightened of cinephiles can appreciate.

Truer words have never been spoken.
