Jeez Haley Joel Osment looks creepy in that pic. I'm not sure if I'd like him as Jimmy either. Albert Finney would make a great Perry White though if not Michael Gambon. Though I don't think he needs to be too old though.

And who said anything about no existing actors coming back in a reboot. Look at Dame Judi Dench reprising her role as M in Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace following the Pierce Brosnan films. We could easily see Brandon Routh coming back. And I wouldn't mind Sam Huntington and Frank Langella coming back to reprise their roles actually.

Michael Trucco ain't a bad choice at all though. And I guess Henry Cavill is of the right age to play Superman now...

I want a well seasoned actor to play Superman, someone who is strong in their acting abilities. Someone as good as Johnny Depp but looks like Superman.
Only 1 guy fits your criteria:

Too bad he's damn-near 50!!!

(Runner-ups: Colin Farrell, Ben Affleck)

But Henry Cavill is english, and i don't think he looks like superman. Superman should be played by an American, unless you find someone like christian bale who is just an acting machine and can play anything. it also has to be minimum 6'3, superman being shorter or as tall as batman would be ridiculous.

Jolie can play Lois and you'd already be set for children extras.

What about Josh Duhamel? His name was kicked around during the J.L. casting.

Nationality should not make any difference when it comes to casting. As long as the actor can look like an all-american and speak in a perfect accent, then that should be fine.

He only needs to look that tall on film. At minimum, the actor should be 5' 11'' and it'll be fine to scale up.

I think the unknown people were talking about was Tom Welling. He's not unknown.LOL.

My vote is for Tom Welling. He deserves it.

I know actors can do american accents, but I just feel Superman should always be played by an American. Maybe that's wrong but that's how I am. I also believe it should be played by someone who is going to be a good role model, and isnt someone known to get into trouble, just like Christopher Reeve was.

I want Superman to be played by an unknown. It doesn't have to be someone completely out of nowhere, but not someone that I can associate a bunch of other roles in. As long as that actor knows how to portray Superman, I'll be happy.

I dont like that. You made some good points there, but Lois being a skeptic of Superman sounds a little too much like SR. Gimme classic Lois.

Well , let me elaborate what I mean. Lois Lane should be a cynic at the beginning . She's covered the underbelly of life and has seen the worst in people. She's lost faith so to speak. When Superman first appears she is skeptical about his intentions . She's thinking, "He must have some kind of angle" or He must be doing this for non noble intentions .She shouldn't be hostile like Boseworth was but she should be wary of him IMO. Once he proves to her that he is genuine he restores hope in her. He earns her respect and admiration. It's what he brings out in her and everyone else which thenmakes her fall and trust him.

I can see why you wouldn't want the Bosworth Lois which I don't want either. She had no life and was little more then a cardboard cut out IMO. I think Lois should be witty, smart, sharp tounged and sexy. Those qualities need to be brought back to the character. My idea was strickly her first impressions of Superman.

It would make sense coming from a reporter. Especially one as feisty as her who's always looking for a story. They tend to be tough cynics.

IMO, I would like Welling as Superman if the cast of Smallville was brought over. Erica Durance as Lois Lane, Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor, Aaron Ashmore as Jimmy Olsen and so on.

He has to take some acting lessons, first. And look like Superman, of course.:o

And then all the actors would win the "Razzie awards".

The point of this reboot is to get the audience back on this franchise's side again. Not bury it further. :o

Who's going to play freaking Lex Luthor? I'm trying to assemble my MOS dream cast and Luthor is where I find myself scratching my head the most. I imagine Lex being similar in age to Superman, and he needs to be played by a very strong actor. But my memory is turning up blank for 30 something actors who would look good bald and can play a good villain. >,<

Which is why Welling shouldn't be Superman. I just can't see him as Superman without the cast of Smallville. It would look weird to me. At this point I'm not sure who would play an excellent Supes. I loved Brandon Routh, but now with the reboot, that won't happen.

i would like to see superman with some muscle in the new movie. in the comic books he has some muscle, but watching returns and even some of the others he was fairly skinny, no bulk etc.

I definitely don't think Luthor should be the same age as Supes. That'd be way too young, especially when your lead is likely going to be in his late 20s.

I'd personally go for someone who looks like they are in their mid-to-late 30s. Someone believable as an established businessman. Anyway, my personal choice has always been Jason Isaacs:

You've prolly seen him in Harry Potter, most recently. He's a fantastic actor and has the perfect look/presence for that vengeful and power-hungry boss. Other than him, I can't think of any off the top of my head.
