I know one thing, if this next Superman movie fails I can guarantee we will never see another Superman movie till another 20 years.

Here's what I say.

Tom Welling for Superman and Steve Rogers for Captain America. Perfect?

I was not saying not to move forward, I was making a point. None of the actors mentioned in this thread says Superman. When you saw Reeve you automatically said Superman because he looked like he steped off the pages. To me Superman is one of those characters that has to fit the mold. Extensive casting will have to be done...again, and hopefully someone will be found that can act and has the look, like Reeve.

I think people need to let go of the Reeve/Superman mold. This isn't to say that you cast Seth Rogan as Superman. But Reeve was Superman to the point where people now associate the two as one. So they are looking not for someone who can play Superman but someone who looks like Chris Reeve.

Its the way Singer went with Routh and the more I think about it the more I'm convinced they need to leave the Reeve/Donner films completely.

Instead of looking for someone like Reeve, they need to find someone with the key features - black hair, tall, blue eyes but who can convincingly play Kal El and who can act beyond a bumbling Clark Kent. The choices set forth are actually pretty good.

^I like most of the choices too. These guys look like Superman to me, Superman doesn't mean Chris Reeve clone.

I personally like Bomer. Just look at this pic:

You guys are missing the point. Not a Reeve clone I mean someone who when I look at the screen I see Superman, not a guy playing Superman. Like Hugh Jackman, though to tall I still see him and say Wolverine because he looks and acts the part. I totally agree with Reese about the key features and that was point I was making Reeve had the key features, I did not see any of the other actors posted that had those key features.

I can't believe we are back to this. Casting... I don't know if I can make it through unscathed.

Heh, Bomer looks like Cavill's brother there. I generally like his look, but he lacks the height and physical stature.

What has he done on the acting side?

The point I'm making is that in many people's minds Chris Reeve and Superman are inexorably linked into one image. This is only natural as to date I think Reeve is the most physically perfect superhero ever to grace any film medium.

Whenever I hear people talk Reeve and Superman when suggesting casting I can't help but think they have the two inexorably linked to the point where they are setting the bar too high for another actor to follow.

his resume is lacking as is his height & lack of braud shoulders. His face is perfect though, atleast by that pic posted. I didn't really see the same face in Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Teh beggining. he looks different in that pic.

Steve

I'd like it if they went with a more seasoned actor this time around. If possible.

Ok now we are on the same page. I agree with you but I think if casting directors looked a little harder they could strike gold once again.

I'd just stick with Brandon Routh,he does have the look, and by the time this gets made he will have matured and gotten a little older. I thought he did a good job on what he was given,he had decent facial expressions, and acting overall. He definately has a decent build for superman, though not the broading shoulders/chest we've seen with all the other supermans..

They're not going to keep Routh because this is a reboot. If you keep Routh, then it's a sequel in the public's eyes.

It's a reboot, they aren't bringing anyone back.

I like McAdams as Lois but Dexter is too creepy looking to play Superman.

I'd say no to both Hall and McAdams. They look nothing like their comic book counterparts. I love both of them as actors though.

Ok what about Billy Zane as LEx? he's been thown around as lex before?
