Those are only cosplays, meaning normal people dressing up themselves as cartoon characters.
And they are not costume designers.
They cant look perfect.
But in my opinion they resemble more of Goku than Justin Chatwin.
That was my point of posting those pics.

The main reason those Japanese guys above look like Goku is because they're dressed up like him and they have that huge spiked hair, hair that would never appear in a live action film. Chatwin's hairstyle is about as accurate a version you're going to get with a live actor.

As I said earlier, if they really wanted to find a cast who looked like the characters from the manga they would've cast a bunch of Eurasians.

The fact is, as Dragon Ball develops and the characters end up in farther parts of the planet, we see that pretty much everyone is more or less the same: some of them eat rice, wear Asian clothes, read and/or use Asian writing, etc, etc. Does that mean that in Toriyama's universe, China and/or Japan cover the whole friggin' planet?


Come on. Goku is an alien and, though outwardly human except for maybe the tail (which, in itself, is far less strange than so many other anthropomorphic individuals in that world), there's just no particular reason why he should be interpreted by an Asian actor. Just about any actor remotely resembling Goku's basic looks could've done, whether Asian or not.

In DB we dont know he's from another planet, we know that in DBZ
So when Arika created Son Goku in DB he made him as an asian, it's logical.

In DB world, there are no european, asian, latino, afro, ....
but the characthers look like!
And Goku looks like chinese that's all.
