Comics The Real Possibility of MJ... *spoilers*

Maybe you shouldnt call yourself MAJIK and have a girl in your sig, an unattractive one
I've always used Majik as a name, if you don't like it, not my problem.:o

I don't have a girl in my sig. But I do have the sentence "I'm a guy." in my sig which cuts down the confusion.

If you meant the girl in my avatar, then I suggest you just castrate yourself now if you don't find her attractive because obviously it's not doing anything for you.:o

Frickin' n00b.

he also said that he thinks peter might be killed off as well causing this new kid that he has in his science class to take over as the new SM...
HAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAAAaaaAAaaAA

oh yeah.... right

It's true, they're not going to kill Peter Parker. I mean, they just friggin' did like, less than a year ago, you know? It took like, 12 goddamn issues and forever to go, and it felt forced, lame and boring. Trust me, Peter isn't the Parker with a clammy skeletal hand on their shoulder.

You are not the only one...It's been all talk here too..but I WILL drop ASM and the mainstream titles I am hanging on too, if MJ dies.
Me too. MJ goes, I go.

Even though I read and collect because of my love of Spider-Man, a big part of that "attraction" to the character involves his relationship with MJ... his feelings for her and the way they are together, etc.

To have some ARROGANT, clueless (he'd HAVE to be that and more) S.O.B screw that up... the white hot anger I would feel, would make it impossible to continue. He'd be 86ing so much MORE than just MJ...

I feel the same way Cap, I love Spider-man, but a big part of it is the romantic side. ( Fighting is a guy thing, it's the drama that's cool )
I truly feel that Joe Q is about to make his fatal mistake to his career as an editor. He under-estimates the affection many people hold for Peter and MJ. Thanks to the movies, they are probably almost as well known as Lois and Superman. A while back, in one of his Joe's Fridays, He actually had some of his major writers with him , and they debated it. Bendis ( who is my hero, not just because of ult Peter/MJ, but b/c of this ) said something like " 3 generations have grown up not knowing him NOT married" and actually was the only one to oppose Joe.
What bothers me more, though, is Joe says they want to get younger readers into it, and a married Spidey they can't relate to. For a fictional character, I'd bet a lot of young kids, boys in particular, really look up to him. "Great Power = Great Responsibility" is an excellent idea to teach kids. And what kid doesn't want to grow up and get married, and for guys to have a woman behind them all the way?

Oh good, I can save more money by not coming back to any Spidey titles yet.

Yes, because as I've seen so many times on these boards that, comic shop owners are truly a reliable source of information. :whatever:

He left out the part where Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, The Vulture, Shocker, and Hydro Man take turns raping Mary Jane...and THEN they cement her feet...and leave her sleeping with the fishes because that's how those villains roll, you know what I'm sayin', homeslices? :wow:

I hope the writers read this and see how many fans they will lose if they kill off MJ.

Nobody here has any right to complain as long as they keep buying Spider-Man titles.

So just stop.

That's just it. We are not complaining about current issues we are just saying if they kill off MJ, we're going to stop reading it. What's wrong about that?

I was the first to tell you guys MJ is being killed but no one thought I was telling the truth now more and more people are coming out saying the same thing

I hope the people at Marvel are reading this.

Of course they are but do you think they care? Marvel has us all on ignore and its been this way for years. Besides, people shouldn't be so surprised. All of this ******edness was predicted, analysed and re-predicted years ago, even on these very boards and voilla, everything is falling into place. The ultimate line taking over was never ever a joke or to be taken lightly for that matter.

So what, you want a medal?:whatever:

Look bro, people have been saying MJ was going to be killed off for a little over 2 years now, its nothing new.

The truth is, that comics aren't Marvel's main source of income anymore. Licensing of their characters is. So long as sales numbers are spiking here and there, it seems that no one really cares what Joe Q does.

Don't take a bow yet. It hasn't happened and I still don't believe it will.

I know they WANT to kill MJ... and I also believe they want us to THINK they would do it. But, other JQ comments I read make me believe he KNOWS that's sacred ground, and his hands are tied...

I'm just saying what the consequences would be if they did.

In the long run, when everyone has forgotten about MJ, I think it will be for the best.

Too bad that MJ is such a large part of the Spider-Man story now that no one will forget about her.

That's like expecting people to forget about Alfred.

I would have kept Peter single if I was in charge of the Spider-Man books, but he's married now and killing off his wife won't change the fact that Peter being married was at one point a big part of the story. He won't come off any younger as a widow. Killing off MJ will just make Peter too angsty, unless they want to have him forget that he was ever married.

I love these kinds of posts too.

"OMG I was the first to say it and now everybody is copying me!!!" :wow:

First off, the second Quesada was heard and quoted about how much he disliked the marriage every Quesada hater in comic fandom immediately said, "He's gonna kill MJ!". This has been going on for well over 2 years here with the "Do you think they'll kill MJ?". Hell, when I first came here almost FIVE YEARS AGO people were talking about them killing off MJ. So, it's always been a large topic of discussion.

Second off.... While Quesada may dislike the marriage he's said one thing about the character that you know he won't do...which is kill MJ...because it makes Peter Parker a widower, thus aging him. Quesada doesn't want to age the character. Divorce them and it ages the character. Case in point, there are ways to end the marriage without divorce OR death.

Third off, MJ is dying...in the Spider-Man: Reign miniseries. :oldrazz:

But Quesada has also shown to say one thing and do another(He said the FF "Death in the Family" will result in the permanent death of an FF member), and that he loves to screw with fans.

So his saying "Being a widower would age Peter" means nothing. The point is, Peter will be free of the marriage and can be de-aged via dating and so forth.

I predict that once some distance is gotten from the marriage, Peter will start to look and act alot younger than he has.

Oh, I know he does that. Bendis does that as well. I actually like that he screws with fans like that and keep them guessing. Plus it's great seeing people get bent out of shape about nothing. :woot:

Like that Spider-Man Reign picture that everyone thought was regular universe, haha. Oh man, I relished in that one for a good week. :oldrazz:

Marvel has been licensing it's characters for ages. Back when Toy Biz wasn't owned by Marvel...back when they used to license their characters to things like Pez. In fact, Marvel's income from licensing hasn't been too fantastic. Sony and other studios, reap more of the benifits of Marvel movie success stories, than Marvel themselves. Marvel gets paid a small royalty and a one time up front free, but the rest of the profit all goes to the studio in question. In fact, that is the exact reason why Marvel opened up their own studio and took out a loan as of earlier this year. They got tired of other studios getting the bulk of the money. So now they are only relying on studios as distributors, rather than creators.

Marvel has improved their licensing deals over the years. And yes, raw deals from studios is why they're producing their own movies (as well as remaining true to the source material). But the fact remains that Marvel makes more money from the movies, toys etc. Than from comic book sales. So the people in the board room don't really care what Quesada does as long as the sales numbers are decent.

Now to that effect it is true. While they don't make as much money as the studios themselves have, Marvel is making enough to put them into the profitable area. I don't think they would forsake the books however, just because the films are a success. Keeping a film franchise fresh over a term of longevity, is quite a task. So Marvel should have more to fall back on. That is what their books are for. And currently, they command the market, even if it is only by 3%. They should take advantage of that.
