Capcom The Resident Evil Thread

I can't believe how the image quality dropped after porting the game to PS2. I always assumed PS2 specs were higher than the GameCube before watching a video comparing them and the XBox together, in it they compared shots from NGC and PS2 versions of RE4.

You assumed wrong bc PS2 was always the weakest system out of those three. Most multiplatform games tended to look worse on it. RE4 was intended to be exclusive and as a result was built around the GC's hardware. They had to scale back when it came to porting

Why would you assume a home console that came out a full year after the PS2 did was a weaker system lol?

Not a fan of the FPS setup, but I liked the Operation Javier story from Darkside Chronicles.

I picked up the PS4 port of RE6 yesterday for fairly cheap. I never did finish that game. Chris campaign ran outta steam for me, but I'm gonna finish them all up now.

It dawned on me that if they put RE2, RE3 and Code Veronica on PS4 that we'd have all the main story RE games on PS4, right? We've got Zero, REmake, 4, 5, 6 and soon 7. That's a lot of Resident Evil.

I'll add the Revelations games for full story.
RE2 might be skipped, or the slot will be saved for the remake of that game.

I've never been a RE fan, but I did just pickup RE6 from Best Buy because it's on sale. I also downloaded RE5 off of PSN because it's also on sale. I really want to see what the big deal with 4 is, but I'm waiting for that inevitable sale before buying.

The remake of 2 is coming, so it'll be there. If it sales well, a remake of 3 is probably a real possibility, too. I'm sure they'll throw Code Veronica HD on there at some point, but I don't know if we'll ever get a physical release. It'd be cool as hell to every mainline game on there as a physical release.

Nah, the Revelations games are side stories. Unless they chose to continue the Alex Wesker story in the mainline titles, they really don't add anything to the overall narrative. They just tell you what key characters were doing in-between mainline games. Revelations 2 is already on PS4, anyway, wouldn't be surprised if they re-release the original Revelations, too, at some point.

Are Hunters still the most economically feasible B.O.W? Tyrants are great, but as far as I'm aware the odds of making a viable one are still pretty slim.

I'd like to see a giant Hunter/Veronica Plant hybrid that spawns Hunters and Jaberwockys (the bug creatures from Operation Javier).

You mean, like, money-wise? I have no idea if something like that is really calculable

Since im beginning to feel burned out on Gundam Breaker 3, I went and ordered a copy of the new RE4 remaster off Amazon. Eager to play it again.

I was thinking more in terms of, "is the Hunter the B.O.W. that's closest to the ideal of a weapon that is deadly, yet controllable, with the greatest number of military applications."

This Sunday there is going to an hour and a half long conference dedicated to Resident Evil at TGS. RE7 is confirmed to be there in playable form, and talk of the new movies will be there. Nothing else is confirmed, but apparently at the Sony conference they revealed some kind of weird VR music video crossover with RE and a Japanese band and teased the intro to RE2, so RE2Make made be officially revealed.

So I've been on a Resident Evil kick these past couple of weeks. I dusted off my PS2 and played the first one (PS1 Director's Cut, didn't finish it), then bought Code Veronica X (PS2 version, I still have the Dreamcast version), played a little bit of it, and just yesterday, I received RE2 Greatest Hits in the mail, which has the Dual Shock version, the Arrange mode and the Mercenaries. All of which I never got to play since I only had/have the original one when it hit the store shelves way back when.

But they look like crap on my tv, even with the component cable.

Still not excited about RE7 though.

RE2 doesn't have Mercenaries. That was introduced in RE3. You may be thinking of The Third Survivor?

Capcom will release an update to its Resident Evil 7 Teaser: Beginning Hour demo that will allow players to explore more of the mysterious derelict mansion. The updated, dubbed the “Twilight Version,” will be available tomorrow, September 15 for all PlayStation 4 users to download.

Capcom also released a new trailer and set of screenshots.
Pre-orders for Resident Evil 7: biohazard are currently available in both standard and deluxe versions. It will now cost $89.99, but anyone who previously pre-ordered will be upgraded at no additional charge.

All pre-orders for Resident Evil 7: biohazard will include the “Survival Pack” add-on, which includes consumable healing items, an early unlock of the insanely difficult Madhouse mode, and a mysterious Lucky Coin in-game defense item. There's a mode where you can play as Chris Redfield in part 2 right? Or is that part 3?

I know about Hunk and Tofu in part 2.

I think PC had that as a similar battle mode to Hunk and Tofu which were just precursors to the Mercenaries in RE3.

speaking of chris there's a new movie on the way.

Capcom has revealed today that a full CG movie is coming for spring 2017 in Japan. Resident Evil: Vendetta will be executive produced by Takashi Shimizu and directed by Takanori Tsujimoto.Hiroyuki Kobayashi. The main producer, has hinted that while being completely original, the plot would be similar to Resident Evil 1. We don’t know if the movie will come to the west, but with the arrival of Resident Evil 7 next year, it would make sense to see it in theaters. It seems Capcom is trying to push its strongest series and make them more profitable, since a Monster hunter movie is also being prepared.

Played 30 minutes of RE4 PS4 version today. Gotta say, it looks pretty crisp and clean, I'm very impressed.

I don't suppose that the extra costumes are viewable in cutscenes on this version? I know they weren't before, but I was curious.

I remember Degeneration sucked pretty bad, but I never watched Damnation. I've heard it's better.

I knew I had seen a screenshot of Leon/Claire/Ada/Chris somewhere before. lol.

I hope RE:Vendetta is good. I didn't really like Damnation. Degeneration was good.

Yep, I stand corrected. I forgot all about that, I guess.

Not really all that into what RE7 is doing. Being a huge fan of 4,5, and yes, even 6, I was hoping the next RE would continue on as them. But it's alright really, still got the RE2 remake to look forward to. Hopefully it won't be much longer till we see some footage. Vendetta looks interesting as well.

The setting of the Baker trailer feels like the Pueblo from 4 - except instead of simply being attacked by overly-aggressive hosts/carriers, we get to see how that aggression slowly set in. Experiencing the end-credits reveal from 4 within the game itself, if you will.
