Capcom The Resident Evil Thread

Another case of wait for the definitive edition for me.

It's really strange that they remember proto-Claire aka Elza, but nothing so far on her classic outfit. Not fair. Still hoping for the best. Without it she looks rather generic. I mean, come on, Leon has unique looks and Claire had it too.

Another great thing - SOUNDTRACK SWAP. In case the new soundtrack isn't a satisfactory for whatever reason, we can always enable the classic one.

Love that they remembered Elza.

Looking forward to seeing that outfit fully rendered.

I noticed zombies leave bite marks on characters skin.

I wonder if they will have something like a Survival difficulty, where you have to basically avoid getting bitten at all. Because if you get bitten by a Zombie, that's pretty much a death sentence, if you don't have an antidote.

Even if it won't have that difficulty, people will create challenges for themselves.

As for getting bitten being a death sentence - the risk is high, but infection isn't guaranteed.

Say, am I the only one who'd still welcome spin-off games? Take this engine, the gameplay, and bring back the Outbreak series. Or give us another Operation Raccoon City, I liked the premise of the game, but they kinda ****ed up by outsourcing it, instead of creating it in-house, using the RE5 engine.

Man, I LOVE the idea of Operation Raccoon City. And Karena "Lupo" LesProux, badass mama. I always liked those cold-blooded spec-ops of Umbrella from RE2 and ORC was the closest thing to it.

I'd be all over a quality version.

I just pray that Capcom finally learned their lesson. Watched some DmC retrospective, and as much **** as the fans gave Ninja Theory, they are not really the ones to blame. Basically everything that Ninja Theory did with DmC, was at the behest of Capcom. Who wanted those Call of Duty numbers, so their logic was to Westernize everything. So they probably thought outsourcing Operation Raccoon City to a studio known for the SOCOM games, was a bright idea as well.

But with RE2 and DMC5, Capcom seems to be back on track.

Yeah, I hope Capcom came to understanding of their fan base and artistic legacy. There's nothing bad in trying to expand their audiences and increase sales, but you can't just rape your own franchises while doing so. They learned wrong lessons from the success of Resident Evil 4.

Even though the remake looks great and I'm hoping Nemesis and Veronica get a remake as well. I'm actually not that excited for this. I get the nostalgia, I played the game when I was a kid but the story... They already expanded it through Chronicles and even used it for Operation Raccoon City. So I'm not that excited.

A Re8 with the familiar Re characters that weren't in Re6 (Jill/Claire/Carlos) in a re7 scale would have scalped me.

Mega Man 11 as well.

I'm glad that awkward phase in RE's life is over. RE5, 6, Operation Raccoon City and Umbrella Corps seemed liked a franchise looking for a new identity without realizing that the core of what makes the games great (survival horror) is what fans want. I know 5 and 6 sold like crazy, but ultimately it was the wrong direction for the franchise.

I guarantee a lot of those sales came from the Call Of Duty crowd.

The Playstation E3 livestream just showed 15 minutes of gameplay of RE2 and holy tap dancing underpants this game looks AMAZING. I can't wait to play it. It's my most anticipated game right now. I need it.

I know some people wanted the classic fixed camera, but seriously, 3rd person was the right call. The game is ****ing terrifying.

That's why I don't mind spin-offs. If they want to experiment or look for more ways to make cash, try new formulas with spin-offs. But when working on main numbered REs, keep to the core.

My only concern with the new camera is that unlike RE4 or RE5, RE2 is very claustrophobic with small office rooms and narrow corridors. Will there be enough space with this camera mode? Turning is narrow corridors can be a problem. Even a game like The Last of Us had very spacious environments indoors. Not complaining, but I hope they came up with a solution with how camera behaves in tights situations.

This isnt a new camera angle onto the old game. Its all being remade so thats been taken into consideration. Im sure they know what they are doing

The new game still follows aesthetic and game design of the original. Even on the screens we can see what I described.

I think turning in narrow corridors can be easily solved, if they have an option to turn 180. Didn't even RE3 have that option, during its fixed camera days?

^Yeah.

Saw the 17 minutes of gameplay video, and the R.P.D now have toilet stalls, and other significant differences made to the original design.
