Capcom The Resident Evil Thread

Yeah it really didn't make any sense how in scenario B, once Mr X appears the roof gets blocked off, but you can still go there in scenario A when that part in scenario B occurred first.

There's no reason why they can't touch up on that this time.
What they should've done originally was use the destroyed area models caused by Mr. X in scenario A, and we would've been left to assume it was William... then to see that bastard the second time round!

Yeah, they could've done more with that area.

For me, I'd like to see them tweak the fight with the alligator. Have the area more compact and claustrophobic. If the camera angle is that off 4, 5 and 6, then have the tunnel be completely black, and the only light that emits is from your weapon.
Or if it's in the style of 2, maybe have the tunnels like a maze this time and so you're running around trying to fight the alligator while disorientated :hmm

This is...such an awful idea. Especially for a boss fight. Man.

How, though? :hmm

You feel the tension by running around in the tunnels, which are like a maze... and you can't see, where... you
.. are... and... you're either being chased... or running into... the.... alligator... yeah, it wouldn't work :hehe:

But hasn't anybody noticed something about every boss battle, or encounter with Mr.X? They always pit you in a tiny arena for a boss, and a tiny corridor for Mr. X, before his transformation.

I was going along the lines of that; decrease the size of the tunnel, lower the lights, and remember the tunnel level from Silent Hill Downpour, where you had to find the man's heart on a quest? And as soon as you found it, you'd be chased in the maze-like tunnels by all these Screamers and Prsioners?

Keeping the roots of the boss battle with the alligator, but adding just a little more to it.
I never liked how you'd have an easy option in that fight... just running round the corner and dropping the tank into its mouth before firing just one bullet from your pistol...
If I'm going to see it again, I hope for something a little more engaging somehow.

It adds to the horror of Mr. X, when he's not breaking the wall of the studio.
And that monster isn't a fast moving giant freak like the alligator in the sewers, alligator launches real fast, it's a surprise the protagonist survives that attack unscathed.

Needlessly difficult.

I like the easy choice, especially for a monster you can't kill using the rocket launcher to shoot 15 rockets at it.

And nobody invited me?!!! I thought I was part of the family? :waa:

Awesome, never played RE4 so will be getting this remaster once I finish the RE1 remaster. Already played through 5 so will go for 6 after that.

I replayed Resident Evil 3 again, my first time playing without the use of the unlimited rocket launcher I buy after earning money from the Mercenaries Mode, and the part I hate the most is the worm before starting the train heading for the clock tower, Jill died at least 7 times before I successfully activated the ladder. My 8th death was Nemesis grabbing me for the first time in that gameplay, before I escape the giant earthworm.

I did not remember Nemesis being faster with the multitude of tentacles. I also did not remember that the best way to win in the clock tower battle against him is by using freeze rounds.

A glitch I faced in my last gameplay is Nemesis continued fighting headless in the place I should take the keycard from.

God, that worm battle was awful.

Freeze rounds are basically the same firepower as magnum rounds in RE3, I'm pretty sure

The worm battle before the reaching factory is ok.

Last time I used magnum on Nemesis it took him 7 bullets for first down, freeze rounds knocked him down in 5 shots.

It's easy to underestimate those.
Normal grenades are weaker in RE3 than they are in RE2.

Ever play Doom 3? Everyone hated it when Doom 3 did it and I doubt it would be better received now.

Man, replaying RE4...so good. I'm kind of glad I skipped the first console HD release. It's been a good while since I've played through. Even with some of the more archaic features, it still feels so fresh and modern. Truly a timeless classic.

Only game I have ever bought new and at full price four different times.

Hey Tron, how's RE4 looking with this new release? I saw a copy in stores today and was sorely tempted to buy it. I loved the **** outta RE4 when it first came out.

It looks fine, and runs pretty smooth except for the rifle reload animation which is, strangely, capped at 30 fps as opposed to the locked 60 fps of the rest of the game (giving a really weird look of the game lagging, but only Leon is actually lagging while everything else is fine). You can tell not a huge amount of effort was ultimately put into it, though, just a straight resolution and fps bump. I skipped the PS3/360 re-release, though, so for me this is the first time playing the game in HD. Some people have been disappointed, apparently, that more wasn't done.

I'll probably skip it then. I still have my GC version I can climb back into and if they haven't done any significant amount of changing then it's not worth my time.

I can't believe how the image quality dropped after porting the game to PS2. I always assumed PS2 specs were higher than the GameCube before watching a video comparing them and the XBox together, in it they compared shots from NGC and PS2 versions of RE4.
