Capcom The Resident Evil Thread

Thats you though.

Game of the year nominations are decided by a group of people (most likely critics). Its not hard to eXpect a game with 93-91-91 Metacritic score, will be nominated for GOTY.

Oh yeah I never said it won't be nominated, it deserves a nomination.

I just don't think it deserves the win

RE0
RE1
RECV
RE5

Any of those should be neXt. It sounds like the announcement is just a matter of time. Its probably RE5 because of the new Wesker actor. But then, all those games I mentioned feature Wesker anyway. I would love it if its Code Veronica.

LOL, just remake every game at this point :)

Remake RE7 too with third person :D

I wonder whats taking them so long for that. Since Village was already released in third person. But I guess if there's a remake in the 2030s, thats something new that they could offer.

Ultimately, they would want 1, Zerø, Code Veronica, 5 and 6 in RE Engine glory, especially if the sales for the upcoming remakes are good. The neXt one should sell well, if not at least better than RE3R.

I think its just a matter of when, they are going to release those 5 remakes. 2-3-4 sounds like an obvious release order, but story wise, Code Veronica should have been out out before 4. If they release 5 neXt, then 6 seems like a no brainer, unless they would want the last numbered game before the first RE Engine game - RE7, to take the backseat infavor of 1, Zerø and CV. But also in hindsight, they probably should started with Zerø and 1. But I guess remaking 1 for the second time, before RE2, was bit of a stretch at that time, even if the remake of RE1 looks quite dated now (compare to these newer games) because of its fiXed camera.

I would release the neXt several remakes in these years
2025
2027
2029
2031
2033

Even with the 2 year gap (which sounds unlikely to happen), it would take at least a decade to have RE0 to RE6 in RE Engine. Based from reports, there's no RE game targeted for release in 2024.

Keep in mind, RE2 was green lit before Capcom was flush with cash. Based on the past few years, I think they are going to keep it to a new RE release every other year, I would not be shocked if RE 9 is up next, to showcase the REX engine, the upgrade to RE Engine.

I think Resident Evil 9 would be neXt for a 2025 release, 4 years after Village. Then another remake in 2026, 3 years after RE4R which feels like a long gap. So I imagine the neXt remake would be for a lengthy game like 5 and Code Veronica.

Once RE5R is released. Their neXt remake after it, could potentially be the most interesting.
-A remake for the most divisive game (RE6)
-A remake for the title they usually ignore (Code Veronica)
-A second remake for the first game
-And Zerø

I want Code Veronica to be neXt. If not that game, then 5, so it would be finally out of the way. I'd save 1 for last. As I'm intrigued how Capcom would have progressed by 2030s, assuming PS6 is released by that time. I imagine the graphiX would look insanely better than RE2R by that time.

I mean, they have already announced their new engine, that seems to have the ability to be slowly added on. RE Engine is already a miracle working engine. REX seems to be targeted for next gen.

And it would get much better by the 2030s. Unless graphics by Capcom already peaked by the 1st Re game of this REX. I'd save the 2nd remake of the first game for last, assuming that one gets the best graphiX out of all these remakes.

My problem with these remakes is when do you stop remaking the games? Resident Evil has already been remade before.

Resident Evil Remake is quite dated. I have it on disc, but I have yet to play because I don't want to play a fiXed camera RE game now. Also, there are plenty from the younger generation that probably thinks its too old or haven't played it, compare to the newer remakes.

Also, gameplay and graphiX, there are so much to be improved from the 1st remake. I dislike the color grading of RE1R.

Resident Evil wasn't remade so much as remastered over 20 years ago then that remaster ported to the last gens (PS3/4/360/One) almost a decade ago. Yes, it was "remade" but it was almost a literal shot for shot remake that added a few bits to it. Again, 20 years ago. Nothing like what RE2, 3 or 4 got.

They'll keep making remakes as long as they sell or if they get preoccupied by something else.

I'd say the GameCube remake was a bit more than a shot-for-shot remake.

It had Lisa Trevor and those crimson heads.

But still, its still not really comparable to the third person remakes that came out during the ps4/5/RE engine period.

Yes it is because it was a top-down remake. It had new voice-over as well.
