The Dark Knight Rises The Robin & Batgirl Casting Thread

Not really. We've seen it. Batman's been caught in his maneuvers, and he either got his butt handed to him by Scarecrow or fought like the dickens against the GCPD. A realistic level of violence against a minor makes Batman look like a child abuser, by even letting the kid out there in the streets and putting him in the line of fire. Having Robin fight off thugs makes the whole thing cartoony. Robin cannot do the same things as Batman and preserve the realism and tone of the film.

Uh, I've always been for bumping Robin's age up. I don't think that, being one of DC Comics's smartest characters, it makes any sense whatsoever for Batman to endanger child after child in his missions.

I'd much rather all the Bat-family's members' ages bumped up. That said, I can't see him, especially in this series, allowing his side-kicks to do much more than intel and/or sit in the shadows and do the "easier" stuff, if even that.

I'd honestly like to see Dick Grayson Introduced into the Batman film franchise at say age 9-12(I'm not entirely sure what age would work best) and then over time figure out Bruce is Batman, Insists he can help him and Bruce refuses, ect and eventually decides to become Robin around age 16-18. It could easily show the power struggle over a son who thinks he's an adult and Father trying to look out for his best interests. And it the movies instead of Batman and Robin patrolling together they should be separated and call each other if they need help. which means Bruce game him a communicator so he can save him while he plays superhero cause Batman doesn't need help. I think 2 separate characters working together works well I mean TDK did that with Dent,Wayne, The Joker and Gordan. but if they went that route young Dick wouldn't become Robin for at least 1 or 2 movies after he's introduced and he won't be introduced in the next movie so if they decide to go that route we'll see Dick Grayson by Batman 4 and Robin by 5 or 6. Here's hoping they do.

kat dennings anybody?

Eh, its basically only Kristen Stewart thats been done to death. Trachtenberg isnt that popular of a suggestion.

Yep you're true. She is a teenage version of Megan Fox,Acting I mean

Logan Lerman as Dick? Yep totally.
Never seen Emma Stone act, I'll look her up.

I'll admit that the Logan kid doesn't have a horrible look and could see him pull of Grayson.

Emma would be a terrific Babs. Ive thought of her as well. She reminds me a little of Michelle Trachtenberg as well.Who is my perfect Babs.

I think her deep voice is perfect for how I always "heard" the character when reading.

how about Eddie Alderson??? he played samson in the movie changling

I think they could introduce Batgirl, paralyzed, and her being given the nickname "Batgirl" by Batman. She could sort of be a resercher for Batman. But Robin.... just introduce him as Nightwing.

all the fanboys (including myself) and fangirls would burn WB to the ground if that happened. tim as robin and babs as batgirl (a WALKING batgirl) is just too big a piece of the bat mythos to just skip.

since there's an overwhelming number of people who hate robin, and mainly because both nolan and bale hate robin, i don't see any of the two coming any time soon...

although they could at least throw in some easter eggs for us you know? maybe bruce walking by a poster of the flying graysons. the kid in the narrows in batman begins was the closest to robin we'll ever get, lol. let's just assume he's jason todd.

I was watching him in 3:10 to Yuma tonight and thought the same thing.

My other choice for Robin would be
Jeremy Sumpter (with a dye job of course)

and Michelle Trachtenberg as Batgirl

I agree that it doesn't make sense for them to be doing the "hard" stuff as well. What I also don't agree with is Batman taking a 16 year old and turning him into a credible vigilante, and potential/eventual replacement in two years. Especially if the kid is doing anything vaguely normal, like attending school. I also don't see Batman trusting a half-grown person from outside of his personal circle.

It would make much more sense for me for Bruce to get an eight year old and train him for eight years, and put him on a rooftop recon mission than for Bruce to take a 16 year old and train him for two years.
