Hypesters For the Untimely Death of Molly. Our first meeting is next Thursday at 5.

I'll bring the drinks, and my fancy new activation energy project.

Just read the new issue of runaways well it pretty much confirms that Nico did it. Huh and with a robot too.

Chase is supposed to be an *******. That's like 99% of his appeal.

Well with Xavin onboard, will we have 2 *******s or will chase have to change....OR will Xavin be placed into his own category of "*****e"?

Already is. Chase is cool "*****e" where Xavin is "******* *****e."

However, I still love the Skrull. Karolina more most definitely. But I've always wanted to see a good Skrull. And while I know there is one in MTU, I doubt I'll be seeing much of him.

Oh yeah, death to Molly. I said I'd be pissed if she could hold that foot up, and she did. I'm pissed.

Hey! I've never teeheed in my life! :o

Sweet lord, I wouldn't call myself a "Molly fan" as she's not what I read RUNAWAYS for, but sheesh, never imagined so many people want her to die. Why her, and not someone equally annoying like, say, Arana? Or Jubilee? Good lord, every "Wolveroonie" needs a bullet. No, take it out on poor Mol, the only Runaway these days who can crack a smile. She's not my fave but I feel she serves her role on the team well.

I do agree that wiggy power levels for "tankers" is annoying, hence why I still believe that her strength/durability may be psionically or mentally based, even if the Handbooks don't back me up. Her parents were psychic and it makes sense.

Anyway, reposting from the B/T:

RUNAWAYS #20: With BKV's issues being numbered (4 more after this, basically until Feb. 2007's #25 when Whedon takes over), naturally I am appreciating his parting arcs all the more. RUNAWAYS has continued to be that "rock" of a book for me, a book that is still good when others take a downspin and creates as much as it destroys. Yes, characters do die here but it's been a breeding ground for making some, from random villians to new characters like Victor or Xavin. Norton's art also continues to kick arse. Vaughan promised that "the death of a friend isn't something you get over after an issue" and this one makes that clear;
Chase wants Lotus of the ex-New Pride to help him set up a meeting with the Gibborim to get Gert back from the dead. It hasn't been stated but as Young Wilder needed a "pure sacrifice" to get what he wanted, I am sure Chase may intend for Lotus to be his; if so, that is quite dark, and explores what Chase hinted at a few times. Without Gert, he's not as noble. Lotus tries to appeal to him about her own perspective (as he just as turned 18 and can be tried as an adult), but so far he isn't listening. Considering all the mystical stuff in the book and the fact that there are no end of Marvel characters who cheat death (hell, Wonder Man, who often has called LA his stomping grounds, has been resurrected at least twice and counting), so it makes total sense that Chase would do whatever it takes to try to bring her back, even if it means his own honor in the process. It also seems like he's not afraid to have Old Lace "go to town". Elsewhere of course is the main plot, with the Runaways stuck fighting a giant mystical monster unleashed from some artifact that their parents had (an easy plot device to further "justify" battling it). It's a simple superhero action plotline, but Vaughan works it well enough as it's the characters and their interactions that sell the story, not the villian. Molly's strength I still wonder if it is psionic (will) based as Nico gives her a "caffine" spell and suddenly she's stronger than she's ever been. And c'mon, those who hate her, she's adorable. And she doesn't come out of a brainwashing spell by looking at a beer can. Norton excells at the action scenes as the Runaways rally to find the source of the monster, although battling it causes a lot of property damage (I can almost agree with some of Iron Man's words about them in his CIVIL WAR FILES, but he's been a *****ebag so I won't. Just another solid issue.
Man, I wish Vaughan could stay forever. However, he claims he'll leave the book "at it's peak" and I can't wait for that ride. 30 days for the next issue never comes soon enough. Hopefully the fair-weather fans who'll flock to the book at #25 because of Whedon read the HC's or the digests and realize just what they've been missing from the original creator(s). Good action, compelling plots, good characters, what's not to love? It's books like RUNAWAYS that make the phrase, "make mine Marvel" still worth something.

Don't get me started on Jubilee

Psychic based superstrength eh? Her eyes do light up like her parents'.

Yeah, that was also part of why. I mean if Vaughan said somewhere, "It's not psychic or mind/will based, I just liked the eye glow", I'd quit the theory, but I haven't seen that yet so that's just how my mind works it. And if her strength is attached to willpower or mental stuff, than a childlike imagination can help. Most kids have issues understanding "limits". It's only when you grow up that you learn what is and isn't possible. And it's not like she doesn't pass out a lot from strain anyway, so she's not unbeatable. I did like the "caffine" bit, though.

Least we agree on Jubes.

I've also supported her psionic enhancements in the past for her level of strength. It might be desperation or something else that triggers it, but I'm still convinced that her powers are triggered mentally. She even made a comment about how her mind was shaking after she got the energy boost.

Arana's not that bad. There's some potential for her if she was written in a different way I'm sure. However, skip past the "Wolveroonie's" and kill Wolverine.

I think that was completely b/c of the caffeine.

I just read the first digest, it was okay. I mean, it was good. Not great though. Hopefully it'll pick up, I'm sure it will, because I love BKV:up:

The last 2 digests did pick up for me, IMO, even though I liked all of them. The Second Vol. has kicked arse so far, though. Especially since you don't need to spend so many issues on set-up and such. But the First Vol. is good to have under your belt, especially since it's in inexpensive digests.

Will it be as bad as me not claiming all ASTONISHING issues are perfection-on-paper in B/T threads? ;)

Well, it'll be different, at least. Jake will be the recipient rather than the inflictor and BrianWilly won't be involved at all.
