I'm sure the spell you and I have in mind hasn't been used. Because if it can cast any spell, and we know magic has ressurected people correctly more than once, then she hasn't used the right one.

Either way, if it's even HALF that powerful, then I'm suprised Strange hasn't tried tracking it down yet after it's uses to prevent usage.

The one I have in mind is her trying to resurrect Alex back from the dead. Not the zombie-kind, but a full-on resurrection.

Because if it can cast any spell, and we know magic has ressurected people correctly more than once, then she hasn't used the right one.

That, or the staff has a limit. Either way, we don't know for sure, since the details aren't known, being off-panel. Best we can do is speculate and draw rough scenarios.

Either way, if it's even HALF that powerful, then I'm suprised Strange hasn't tried tracking it down yet after it's uses to prevent usage.

So am I. Maybe Strange was unaware of its whereabouts, Pride and all. But after Volume 1, that'd be difficult to believe, since the Pride made public knowledge when the Runaways were took in at the end of Vol. 1

And brought back a zombie, given with how disgusted she was with the actual spell's turnout. She probably intended to bring him full on back, but given a bad lack of knowledge of the subject, or what she's doing, probably triggered the wrong spell.

There's no reason to believe that it has a limit as of yet, seeing how she's had no problems with other spells so far.

Victor is indeed still alive. He is involved with a bit of a love triangle with some of their new pals from the 19th century. He also seems to have taken over position of the Frogger controller from Chase, or at least is as skilled.

It could be that, if the staff interpreted her words (or intent, whichever you prefer) that way. It could also be that Nico had a clear intent and the staff completely grasped it, but failed to succeed.

Again, we don't know why the spell failed, since it was off-panel, details unknown.

Well, I managed to dug the issue up, and skimmed through it. Pretty much contradicted what Nico said in Runaways, using the staff to try and bring back Alex, thus can't using the spell twice.

Fairly unlikely. Whedon will want to leave the core cast intact for the next writing team, and Victor is part of that. Whedon may add a new kid to the team, though. Little girl around Molly's age from the 19th century who can grow & control plants, specifically roses. Her name escapes me for the moment. So long between issues.

Sooner or later, some writer is going to have to explore the magic of the Staff of One and Nico's magic background and ancestry. Let's hope the story and explanations won't be stupid.

Agreed. Though, they can't explore the Staff's power without negating it. Unless it has a magical trigger, that if all of it's spells are used up, it resets or something. Or it requires some ritual.
