The Runtime thread

It should be called the "All is lost, woah is me" thread.

Pretty much every major film/cinema site out there on the net is saying 130 minutes including Fandango, AMC, Odeon, Cineworld, e.t.c. One single site saying something slightly different likely indicates that the single site is incorrect, not the majority. It's an error, that's all.

I don't think that site is any more reliable than the others -- I was just noting it. Maybe Netherlands minutes are longer. :cwink:
Still hoping all that 130 run time is accurate. Well actually hoping it turns out to be longer.

It's official over at the British Film Board Ragnarok is 130m 21s

8th longest of the 17 MCU movies

And except for the first Avengers and Homecoming all the longer ones were sequels as well.

Makes up for the fact that the first two were 16th and 14th longest.

But what it really boils down to is the more "hero" characters -- the longer the run time. Every "team" or "team-up" movie has been over the 2 hour mark. And only one such movie has been less than 130 minutes (GotG at 120.) So unless Infinity War is a part one "set-up" movie (which they have denied) -- I can't see such a crowded movie being less than 150 minutes. I also doubt the MCU will allow it to go over the 160 mark either. Exciting to think we're 7 months from an epic length Marvel movie with virtually every hero so far introduced being included.

Since I have my list out.....

Possibly interesting facts on the MCU run times.

Over 140 minutes club, 130 club, etc. (movies placement is determined including the seconds so there are no actual "ties")

Av 2---141

CA 2---135
GG2---135
SMH---133.......longest "first" movie, longest solo movie and includes no origin
IM3----130
Th3----130.....shortest "3rd" movie (by 1 second) Thor can't win! :cwink:

IM1----126
IM2----124
CA1---124
GG1---120.......shortest team movie

AM----117
DS----114
Th1---114.....shortest first movie with origin story included
IH----112......shortest "first" movie (no origin story told)

I hope Thor has a bigger role in Infinity Wars 1 & 2, espescially in the final battles.

He's one of a handful of truly powerful characters and I can imagine they will be crucial during the final battles.

I have a feeling a lot of heavy Captain American favoritism will be shown.

Probably the wrong thread but yes, I think Cap and Stark will likely be the main characters of these films. Hopefully Thor can be one of the next most significant.

Come on -- we know Thor always gets shafted in the Avengers movies. Next two won't be any different. It took a co-star role for Hulk to get him a movie above 115 minutes.

But I'm grateful!! :woot:

I hope in the next incarnation of Thor, post phase 3, he gets one epic movie is Asgard and another half set on Earth fighting a powerful human foe. But that's a long way off and probably after Hemsworth hands over the role.

Why did they waste "Absorbing Man" in AOS?! He would have been a great human foe for one earthbound set-piece battle. Visually he could have been stunning.

I have a feeling if they really wanted to they could "unwaste" anything already done and covered in AoS if it would be a big help to the films.

I hope so. Visually the Absorbing Man needs a movie budget to achieve full potential. I think it would be cool if they could have the Enchantress (Amora) create AM after being spurned by Thor. Then he could return to Asgard and fight Asgardian adversaries.
It's get annoying that they always fight one adversary thruout an entire movie (exception Strucker/Hydra.)

I'd love to see any of these heroes fight a decent underling and then fight the main villain. All we get is the main villain and hordes of faceless drones.

Yeah, I agree with all of that. Absorbing Man could have great effects with the right budget and I’d be cool with some buildup fights before taking on the main villain of a film. This would give more depth to the cinematic universe too.

LOL. That's seems like an overreaction. 130 is plenty good! Finally

I know. That run time should have pleased everybody.

When the Russos were asked which characters they haven't written before they were the most interested in writing for Infinity War Anthony said Thor, so there seems to be an interest for the character.
