The Wolverine The Stealth Express of Doom News & Discussion Thread: - Part 4

Origins happened. Would you expect people to get excited for a Green Lantern sequel just because the film makers are saying they promise it will be better? That's what The Wolverine is dealing with.

As much as I'd rather not have the leftover bad sentiment that came with Origins, I'd rather we have a nice surprise come out of this instead of 'second-coming' mania that plagues some of the other forums.

It's more fun when we don't have to keep pulling people off of ledges because the RT score isn't 10000000000%.

I mentioned somewhere else that we're hearing it's really good. Someone responded with "good isn't the word I want to hear, I want to hear epic!" and meant that seriously.

I'd rather skip the fanboy hyperbole.

Considering how god awful Origins was, I'll gladly take a good movie. Some people have ridiculously high expectations that are virtually impossible to meet. By the way, so far the movie looks good to me (I quite like the redesign of Yukio, very anime-ish).

Pretty much this.

That said, Woverine will not only have to deal with people's perception because of Origin, but also the fact that alot of fans will hate the movie regardless because it was made by FOX.

Which is stupid , of course, but hey...par the course when dealing with fanboys.

I sometimes wish RT and Metacritic didnt exist, people seem to base their like in something based on a % rather than their own two eye's and brain.

Nothing has ever, is ever or will ever be perfect in any movie let alone CBM's (which are relatively still in their infant state) so all you can do is sit back and judge for yourself, just take a trip to the TDK boards to understand this even that gets ripped into so you can never please everyone.

I hope this movie is everything I want it to be but I know deep down it cant ever be as its made by someone else and its ultimately their vision, it will either work for me or not or be on some level in between.

I hope I like it as the only person who loses out if they dont is me.

Common sense really but sometimes some folk forget, including me:woot:

Good new writer, good new director, based on a great story and not a real sequel to Origins per se. That's what I met this project with.

Part of the problem is that some fans went to see the movies with their fan fiction version of the movie already in their mind, and when the movie didn't match it, it's a disaster for them.

Yeah, that's a big problem for many I think. Personally I have a very open mind in general, which helps.

This. I'm having to actively bribe people to go and watch this movie because Origins left such a bad taste in the mouth for so many.

I've posted plenty of good reactions over the past couple of months. Who wants to see some negative reaction to the movie? Cause I found one from a random guy on twitter who gives the impression that he saw the movie:

Wolverine...so many movie AND comic pet peeves.

I don't recommend watching The Wolverine.

Vague insight (?) into the movie follows:

So many things as a comic book fan made me hate this movie.

Here's the worst: His healing factor goes away, but when he pops his claws, and puts them back in, he claw holes are healed.

I hated the Silver Samurai, but explaining that would be a spoiler.

Or, "they're a purist!"

In any adaptation, I always translate "I'm a purist" to mean "I'm an unreasonable pain in the *** who's going to have a meltdown because something is different from the source materal without even trying to understand why it was changed."

The fact he states what he states in that middle line tells me he didn't see the movie

You what I'm most excited about...there's actually going to be blood in this movie. Just from watching the Wolverine - Ronin feature on Youtube, you can see where he's trying to patch himself up and he's bleeding pretty bad.

It seems too many PG-13 movies are afraid to show blood these days (especially superhero movies). You can still have a movie be PG-13 and show blood.

Or the trailer. If this shot is what we think it's from:

Do you know how hard it was to take World War Z seriously, as a Walking Dead fan? :funny:

I'm surprised this is a PG-13 movie. Not sure how they managed that. Violent, language, sex. It's every adult oriented in he best way possible.

Now that's pretty great to hear. I was never one who believed a Wolverine film needed to be gory and such (except for a Weapon X adaptation), but it's good to know that it's fairly adult and dark.

Maybe it's a similar situation to X2 in that they can get away with some stuff as long as they don't dwell on it. Though saying that I don't think every showed any actual blood in X2.

They showed a good amount during the final Weapon X flashback, but not much besides that.
