The movie was great. I definitely need to see it again (and I will on Thursday), since I was still getting over the whole stage thing...but they did a great job.

I don't want to give too much away, but..

-They definitely marketed it so wrong. There's much more drama, a lot more character. And those clips were saw? It's a fraction of what the final scenes are in the movie.

-It's nastier, which is good. Wolverine curses a lot in this one (one a got a ton of applause), and he's meaner than we've seen him before. It's definitely more violent, and one scene that I had no idea was coming had me actually flinching in my seat.

-The fight scenes were awesome. People applauded when he said "The Wolverine" when Shingen asked "Who are you??"

-And that ladies were fabulous. We don't see a lot of Mariko in the previews, but she's got a big part in the film and her scenes with Hugh are great. They're actually really funny together in a few places. Same with Yukio, who I'd love to see more of in future films. Viper seemed added on...obviously she needs to be there for what happens in the story, but she was pretty nasty too.

-The third act seems to get the most flack, but I enjoyed it. Again, it's nastier than anything we've seen before, but it was a solid action sequence for me.

-The audience went ballastic for the end credits scene. It's awesome. Happens about midway through the end credits, and it's great!!

So, I loved it. Of course, I got to go up on stage with Hugh before the movie, so I watched it still flipping out over that, but I'm sure I'm going to enjoy it even more on Thursday.

Nah you looked like a champ. And you actually asked a GOOD question. Those other two fools were.. er, fools. I was very displeased with the disorganization of the event and the guys they hired to MC. The fans wanted more interaction. Thankfully Hugh delivered (as always)

Thanks! The other two guys were a nervous wreck. And they both got Hugh to sign their shirts going up to the stage. I was trying to get pictures with my phone, and I already have his autograph, so I just said hi when he walked up and he put his hand on my shoulder and said hi and asked if we were ready.

Again...I managed to keep breathing through this...

He was great! I loved when they started teasing the people seeing other movies. "Turbo kicks ass!!!" :funny:

No one knew what the hell was going on...they tried to separate the lines at one point outside, which didn't sound right.

Hugh was great on stage, and he genuinely enjoys the fan base! His Wolverine vs. Hulk question, getting the guy to do his best wolverine face, Hugh just has a great presence with his fans, which is rare. When he shouted to the people going up the escalator, just passing through to have fun at Turbo, their faces were hysterical. They were definitely in shock at seeing him, everyone that was just passing through was all "ohmogod what's happening, why is Hugh Jackman right there"
 
I don't like crappy animation of any kind. And that rain/sword/Wolvie kneeling thing is as lame as it gets. Total 180 from the tone of the movie.

True. Virtually everything they've used to promote this movie has nothing to do with the actual film.

Even the clips...they're edited down to a fraction of what the scene is.
 
A question for Poni-Boy or danoyse: Is there a title sequence in this film, and if so, what? Is it some sort of japanese style imagery or is just a title card like the Nolan Batman films?
 
Now you understand why I was so pissed off after seeing it the first time? I even mentioned it in my review. It's marketed completely wrong and I guarantee it will suffer at the BO from that.
 
Yeah the promotion of the film is all wrong, but I'm thinking it will work out very well. You go in expecting a boom book action film and come out with something much much more instead.
 
From what I remember there's no title card at all until the end. Sort of like Iron Man 3.
 
No, I don't remember seeing a title sequence. It goes right from the regular 20th Century Fox logo to [BLACKOUT]the Nagasaki scene.[/BLACKOUT] I don't think we see the title until the end credits.

Also, that atom bomb scene is much more gruesome than what you see in the trailers.
 
Was it an animated end credits like Iron Man 3 or was it more like Nolan's Batman films White on Black. Also Poni_Boy, did you think the film was better the second time you watched it or the same?

I was just thinking about that, i don't remember a title!

and waaaaaayyy more gruesome! alot of this film is really pushing the PG-13 rating.
 
For anyone who saw it where would you rank it in the X-flicks?

As good as X2 or FC?
Decent like X1?

Crap like X3 and Origins?
 
Liked it the same, but was a bit more forgiving of Viper. She really stands out in a bad way. Not because she's a bad character, or the actress does a bad job, but because she's so out of place with the rest of the movie.

It's an animated title sequence. But very simple. And Japanese. Loved it

I'd put it at the top of the list of all the X films. It's a really, really good story. Very adult oriented. Then again I wasn't the biggest fan of the first trilogy.
 
Nice! That sounds great. Also, do you think the film felt 'arty' in some scenes because some shots and the cinematography looks quite 'arty' or like an independent film in a good way especially in the Wolverine vs. Shingen fight with Wolverine holding a sword with the rain in the background
