Saw it again for the second time. I still cried during Jean's last scene and I felt I also got closure as well. I think its time. I don't think she'll be in DOFP considering how big the cast has already gotten. So, yeah. I still didn't like Viper. Too campy and reminded me of Poison ivy from Batman and Robin. lol.

When I saw it the 2nd time I actually got more emotional during that scene than I did the first time around. I guess seeing it the first time I was so overjoyed that I was finally watching it. But yeah the second time it really hit me, "I'm all alone here" :csad::csad:

Am I being too picky in complaining that her hair should have been more red? It was red in all the X movies but very brown here. :(

Spoiler contains my speculation from four months ago about the plot of the film.

Based on that trailer, this is my guess of what the story is about:

Back in the day, Wolverine saved the old guy from Silver Samurai. As a thanks, he tells Wovlerine he can now lose the powers and die. Wolvie does it, but then he's attacked at the old guy's "funeral".

We start to get insight that Silver Samurai is back, and now Wolvie is screwed. At the end we find out that the old guy took Wolvie's healing powers and kept himself alive and rejuvenated and has actually been Silver Samurai all along.

Work in Wolverine getting his powers back either right before the final battle or right after.
Well, I was close. And that was four months ago with only having seen the teaser trailer. Not bad, eh?

You know its a really good thing that they went with route

more than the Shingen family drama in the comics.

The plots of all X-Men films is related to being a mutant and The Wolverine is no exception.

Those Jean scenes really do add something to the film, the last one, even though I have never been a Jean/Famke fan was just brilliantly shot and acted.

And those Jean scenes in the film were one of the new things that we haven't seen in a X-Men film before, so I liked it for that reason.

I completely disagree. Making Shingen a bigger factor, and including how he broke Wolverine emotionally as well as physically would have greatly improved the film. Probably one of my biggest disappointments is that they didn't include any of that dynamic.

The thing is Shingen wasn't the reason why Wolverine came to Japan in the 1st place. It was the older Yashida, so its better than the Wolverine went head to head with the older Yashida at the end of the movie. So the movie started with the older Yashida and it ended with him. And I liked it that way.

Can anyone tell me what Mariko and grandfather kept calling Logan? "Kasuri" or something ...

I didn't really care about that, I just wanted more of the personal dynamic that the comic had, and I think making Shingen the main villain would have helped that.

Shingen in the comics offered an infinitely more personal, and powerful battle then the old man Yashida did in this film, because there were no stakes beyond a physical battle between the two. In the comics, the fight between Wolverine was just as much a personal/emotional battle as physical. That's what made it so great.

It was a story Yashida told Mariko when she was a little girl and had nightmare's, he'd tell her of the Kasuri, a ferocious and honorable creature with claws that would protect her as it had him as a young man.

I honestly couldn't care. It felt weird that she was once again having her "moment" with Logan. Not Scott, Logan. Again.

Thanks, I checked out the definition and it's a Japanese fabric lol

Mariko tells Logan the story while they are laying in bed I believe. It is after he has his nightmare while sleeping next to her.

Yeah, I know and remmeber the story I just wanted to confirm that they were calling him "Kasuri" cause I've been saying it to people like it's my job lol

Yeah, unless we are getting the spelling wrong, Logan's new nickname is fabric. :funny:

We've only scratched the surface in terms of how much Wolverine has influenced Japanese culture.
