I guess noone saw the clip with Thor

flying down to save a woman Superman style, throwing her 100s of feet upward to Cap, then lifting the car she was in back up after that

How much more powerful should he be? Like spin the fn Earth itself? :)

The Avengers was basically a "lets see if this will work" film. Its pretty damn good for that imo.

actually

Thor let her car fall, the car he flew up was the 2nd car that fell with the guy in it. he threw the girl so he could get the other car

I've watched the clip again where Cap attempts to move the hammer and it slightly budges and Thor looks concerned and then he relaxes when he can't budge the hammer any further. I wonder if Cap is going to lift the hammer when it really matters in IW.

Too late, the moment is gone, now that Vision will lift it in AoU
seeing Cap lift it in IW would be like, "okay, I guess everyone's worthy"

Unfortunately, you're right.

Who would've known that Steve would become my favorite of the Avengers.

all the interviews I've seen, Hemsworth just seems totally uninterested to be there

strange too because before Cap, Evans was supposedly the shy one who hated doing press rounds

yeah I'm sure he'd love to get home and relax and spend time with his family, rather than fly around the world answering the same 5 questions over and over

he just looks so grumps though

He's been very animated and humorous in numerous interviews with Evans. This is one of the few set of small clips where he's not smiling or laughing and it basically consists of a second or two in real time.

well I've been specifically trying not to watch too much stuff before seeing the film
so, in the interviews I have seen, he's been pretty quiet

but i'm not trying to make it a thing
it's not like "oh my god Hemsworth hates Marvel and wants out of his contract!! what a *****e!!!"

just an observation that he seems, out of all the cast members, the least thrilled to be there
well, except maybe Scarlett, but she always has that look on

It'll be Epic! when he does lift it in Avengers: Infinity War because it will be something we've all been anticipating as well as him delivering the famous catchphrase Battle Cry in a moment only he has earned the right to .

So does Cap say "Avengers Assemble?" I apologize for jumping into this discussion late? Spoilers of course I understand....

No, it cuts off just before he is about to say the second part.

Yeah, CA doesn't look like he's been depowered. Nice to see Whedon kept him at his TWS level and possibly gave him a bit more.

Ironically, Cap's fighting style was done amazingly here. But this time his leadership wasn't displayed well enough. Yes, he gave orders and everyone followed them. But he didn't think any sound plan. Everything was pretty basic and wasn't decisive for the plot.
It was made even worse in the last battle, where he could have been not there and everything would have been more or less the same.

The fight one vs one with Ultron on top of the truck redeemed all of this in my eyes, though. He did a lot better than I expected.

I have other pet peeves about how Whedon developed Steve's personality once again, but I will comment later on it

Cap was definitely impressive in this movie. He did not disappoint at all. Still my favorite character. :)

Don't you think
he was once again left out in the climax of the film? Power trio (Thor, Iron Man, Hulk)+Vision dealing the decisive blow to Ultron. You know, a vibranium throw to the face to such a weakened Ultron could have hurt a lot, but they didn't give him the chance.
I just feel this scene lacked something and it was Cap's shield flying towards him, between the beams. It could have worked wonderfully and Whedon wasted the chance.

I didn't mind the fact that he wasn't involved in that bit. He had his own 1 vs 1 fight with Ultron earlier. The beams were enough for me. I'm not sure that a shield throw would've done much damage.

After all, it's just a metal frisbee.

I don't think that would have meshed with that the way Cap organises the team on the battlefield. He sees his role as containment and protecting the people. He tries to use the more powerful members to go after the head of the snake.

If anything, he knows the strengths and weaknesses of his team and knows where his place is in the battleplan.

Iron Man also had his one on one
and blew him apart?
And Thor. And Vision.
In fact, knowing how vibranium work, the beams (energy) should have had less effect on it than a physical blow from the same material.
I don't like how weak was Ultron's vibranium cover treated anyway. I guess they had to de-power it from the comics.

After all, it's just a metal frisbee.
Whedon likes to make fun of Cap, for sure :whatever:

As long as they use him like that in the MCU (as much as it makes sense with his ideals) the GA will see him like a small fry compared to the "power guys", escorting civilians the same way the regulars (Clint, Natasha) were doing.

If anything, he knows the strengths and weaknesses of his team and knows where his place is in the battleplan.

It would be ok if he went: "Heavy hitters, deal with Ultron, we will help elsewhere". For me, it felt like: "Oh, they are doing whatever they want because the are flippin' powerful and I'm a small fry. Well, the weak ones will do the chores meanwhile".

By keeping Cap clueless most of the time (Maria Hill telling the technicalities of the twins' powers to Steve then dumbing it down for him to understand- was painful to watch) and the key plans super-tech-based, the main lead was truly Iron Man's, once again (at least in the final battle).

In the comics Cap gets intel from the tech-savvy guys and assimilate it. In the film he is directly left out.

I'm getting a sour taste about the film and I left it happy, dammit! :woot:
