The Story.

Personally, I would rather have Darkseid saved for a version of Superman that I'm invested in, since the JL film will feature a new superman from a different continuity, and I'm willing to bet that (provided MOS proves to be successful) that we'd have gotten a sequel by then.

I know what you mean.

In my dream world, there would be no JL movie on the cards for now.

I just think it's this spectacularly stupid idea.

Avengers is something that has obviously been planned for years. And it's require them to be patient and have a lot of faith in single projects. Iron Man tested the waters and proved succesful enough to adapt the 'world' of both Thor and Captain America as tie ins.

The way they have done it, is great for them.

I just don't know how well the audience will receive a Justice League movie, that is completely out of context with the Batman, Superman and Green Lanten projects they have been introduced to - especially if they are running them ALONGSIDE each other like the proposed time line suggests.

IMO they need to wait, at least a year after MOS's third film, before they can show us ANOTHER Superman, Batman and co.

If they are in too much of a hurry to catch up with Marvel, they will screw it up.

On a sidenote, I really hope that this film really emphasizes on how BIG of a symbol of HOPE that Superman is and how Clark only realizes this AFTER becoming Superman, because I doubt that he would have known on how big his superman persona would become; I mean this is the hero that people will supposedly remember for centuries to come.

I dunno.

It doesn't make sense to me, that he would come up with the idea of putting on a colourful outfit without a mask (and turning his human persona into the mask), without intending to inspire Hope, Trust etc.

I think you'd realistically have that in mind.

But isn't the Batman reboot-reimagining thing (:hehe:) supposed to coincide with the MOS continuity?

Not according to the interview I posted in another thread.

Snyder said Nolan's Batman project and his Superman project are both completely seperate from what their doing with any JL projects, and so it's like they get to do it again.

I'll find it in a second, hang on :)

EDIT- Here we go:

THIS IS CRAZY! :hehe:

They're just going to reboot Superman AGAIN so he can fit in a JL movie? I know the next Batman reboot is the case, but ANOTHER Superman after Synder's?

CWAZEEE! :p

Let the Manganiello/Hamm wars begin again!

Oh and the Olivia Wilde/McAdams too :p

I honestly don't know why Olivia Wilde was mentioned so much for the part of Lois Lane. She is not the best of actresses and I imagine the only reason why she was so talked about was because of Tron, but you take that out of her resume, and she hasn't been in a lot of big hit movies. She is no Natalie Portman, Rachel McAdams, or even with Jessica Biel, although she is not the best of actresses, she is well known, or better known that Olivia Wilde.

lol; no doubt about that. I meant in the sense, that while Clark would want his hero persona to inspire hope and such to the people in the world, that the persona of Superman would end up making a bigger impact to the world than he initially had thought it would.

I'd love to see Darksied on the big screen. But i'm hoping they save it for a JL movie personally. I think he brings the perfect level of 'epic villain' for a team up.

Exactly, he should show up at the very end of a Superman film, as a cliffhanger to JL.

Has their been many detailed speculations on the movies story? Why zod is at the farm/smallvile? It would look a bit suss that they are going after the Kents..

"Clark Kent/Kal-El is a young journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone's imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question - 'Why am I here?' Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha and Jonathan Kent, Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as 'Superman', not only to shine as the world's last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves."

Granted, that it hasn't been verified if this synopsis that was released months back online is true or not; I'm hoping that these themes are played throughout the film itself.

Despite the fact that the past films have emphasized on how Superman is a symbol of hope and how his actions could help lead humanity to achieving their own potential for good; I never saw it...I never saw on how his actions directly made humanity different in a better way from what was presented on screen imho.

Also, while Superman's main physical enemy is Zod in this film, I want to see a world presented that's very much like our own, with no sugar coating on how crappy our world can be with the stuff that goes down in it.

I really wouldn't mind if they explored the concept on what it would be like if our world had a guy like Superman existing in it, and how people would realistically react to his presence and how his actions eventually lead to people taking action of their own due to being inspired by Superman's actions.

Even if the costumes and designs of things may not win everyone over, what I hope truly succeeds in this film is the story itself since I believe that this is Superman's last chance to make it big on the screen because if he doesn't, then I don't think we'll see the character again for awhile.

Alaskan fishing village?......could this be our Africa filming?

Just googled the place... Certainly doesn't look very African to me... Well there are a few images that they could probably dress up to work, but mostly it looks like the same kind of town Twilight is set in :p

Lol don't worry, I understand.

I will be a bit dissapointed if there is no hint of Clark travelling the world as a journalist, learning from his time in a war zone.

It just seems like it'd be a waste of a plot point that could help make it relevent.

Kal-El comes to Earth.
Kryptonians attack.
Dons The COstume.
Beats them.

I think it will be like this. :)

I hope at least they'll end up in the Phantom Zone.

Long as he doesn't kill them, I'll be okay with that.

No trunks is annoying.
No Jimmy is a problem.
No Lex is almost unacceptable.
No glasses on Clark is Smallville II. No thanks.
But if Superman were to kill them, and I'm not talking bad editing like Superman II, I'm talking flat-out they die, no question, then forget it.

Really, they need to settle the lawsuit before they make any more Superman movies after this one. I'm sick of litigated changes that WB/DC are making to Superman just because they're a bunch of cheap bastards.

I could swallow the non-existence of Jimmy and Lex in the first movie, but no glasses would be the death sentence for this movie.

It's a shame that they do not really dive into the rich mythology of Superman, instead the give us the same dish over and over. Well, this time it will at least look different, visually.

I'm waiting for the day Cavill will finally say something like "I'm glad I don't have to wear my underwear on the outside" in a public interview. It will happen.

Oh, absolutely. It's all so predictable. So rote.

I agree it would be predictable if they change anything and predictable if the story remains the same.

I really don't think he ever would.

He's always so polite and respectful in interviews, of people's questions and especially of source material and fans.

Only time I've ever seen him make a joke of a question was when the interviewer said he got his information from wikipedia. And even that was tongue in cheek.

I think if a journalist asked him 'So are you relieved not to have to wear the trunks?', he'd say something like this:

'I don't think relieved is the word. I am excited about the new suit and the direction they are taking with the character, but I mean so many people have worn the traditional costume. George Reeves, Chris Reeve, you know, it's iconic. I would have been proud to follow in their footsteps.'

He just always seems that careful when answering questions. Because a) he's a genuinely nice guy from what we can see and b) he's smart and knows not to **** off the fans :p

Why Africa? The first thing I thought of was the Fortress.

Seriously, google the place. What about it screams Fortress of Solitude exactly?

This film is going to need AT LEAST 2 and a half hours IF they plan on going into:

1. Krypton's last days (Developing Jor-el and Lara, while introducing Zod's backstory)

2. Clark's days in Africa as a Freelance reporter as it was shown in Birthright

3. Clark's youth in SV

4. Clark's arrival into Metropolis (meeting its inhabitants: Lois, Perry, etc)

5. Clark developing the Superman persona

6. The whole Antagonism between Superman and Zod

7. Climax and conclusion

Definitely. (Finger crossed for Africa, but I'm starting to doubt it :()

And you have to account for Lois and Clark meeting and any scenes they may have together as Journalists, Lois and Superman meeting - either rescueing her or being interviewed, Clark at the Daily Planet (if we're assuming he will in fact be working there by the end of the film, scenes between Lois and Perry, Zod and Faora's interaction, and scenes Clark will have with JK and MK as an adult, the introduction of General Swanwick and Colonel Hardy and their interaction with each other and Superman, Zod and Faora...

... Thinking about it, I can understand why they've taken Lex and Jimmy out of the equation (hopefully to save for a later date). And I couldn't give two hoots about them seemingly leaving out Lana too.

There is a lot going on here!
