The Story.

This has probably been brought up (many times Im sure) but it just occured to me that the "mystery CGI enhanced big guy" could be Bizarro.

Maybe Zod uses Kryptonian tech to clone Superman to ruin all the good will he has built up with the humans by destroying everything in his guise?

Anyway,kind of unlikely - but just a thought :)
Unlikely indeed. Bizarro was an imperfect clone, not an imperfect giant clone. Whatever it is, it's huge.

I seriously doubt that the CGI person is another MAJOR villain from Superman's rogue gallery; I mean considering the amount of stuff that the film has to cover, it'd be easier to introduce that person as a prisoner/creature from the PZ.

Agreed. I think giant mo-cap man is probably something minor - a tool for Faora and Zod to use to try and defeat Superman - whether it being a monster, robot, or Zod or someone else in a giant battle suit. (If Zod's face is covered, they probably wouldn't need Shannon for what is simply a stand-in/stunt shot.)

Personally for me, I like the idea of FINALLY seeing Superman go up against a individual that looks like an alien/creature/monster on the big screen for the first time.

Up until now, we've only had humanoid looking villains in the films, and the television shows showing Superman have done a less than stellar job on trying to show their versions of Superman go up against something...scary.lol

So what kinds of everyday Earth Based problems (Crimes/Disasters) would you guys want to see Superman tackle in this film?

from the spy pics and the story, i'm thinking maybe superman first appeareance is to deal with zod and his gangs. so we will not see him (in superman costume) tackling the earth based problems (dealing with regular thugs and crooks.)

we might see him do so... perhaps at the end of the movie.

we do you guys think?

That's what the African Birthright story is for. His first tackling of Earth's problems will occur in Africa.

Do you guys think Supes might be more powerful than Zod and co.? Maybe he's been on earth longer and absorbed more sunlight. To counter that, there would be more enemies for him to face.

Yeah, I wonder too how he'll defeat them. Here's hoping they'll stay far away from that silly depowering chamber.

Provided that there isn't any Fortress of solitude here, i don't see them going that route.

If anything, i see the PZ being used over here where Superman is fighting off against them and manages to knock them both into the portal.

Even if there is a fortress, I doubt very much that they would use the exact same plot device as movies they are claiming to distance themselves from.

Having one of the same villains as last time is similarity enough.

Clark looks for his place in the world after his parents death. A lot of writers tend to use finding a mundane job in Alaska in an attempt to find ones self as a viable option.

I've seen the beard pics too. I'm liking every new pic I see more and more! :-)

it feels so much like a copycat of batman begins.

the parents' death, the beard, the wondering around the world doing lousy job, finding the meaning and his place...
damn! that is exactly the same!!!

The beard is a dead give away, this is batman lol.

Bats searched for a means to fight(and claim his "justice")
If that's what Clark was searching for the movie would be about half as long. Gotta admit though, it seems goyer/nolan are smart enough to capitalize on the portion of the characters never fully or officially explored in comics and definitely in film. Unlike say sony's spiderman retelling the exactly same portion explored in their reboot. This approach gives the reboot a buzz worthiness by way of revelation.

Yeah, the beard is kinda strange. It's too much of a BB-approach, and Batman in generel, if it's a result of Clark being desillusioned, careless or traumatized by a certain death.
That's not really Superman.

If it's Clark just letting it grow because of the climate and the job, or if it's to keep a low profile, then fine.

I think that's the thing to keep in mind with any of the set pics - we don't know the context!

My judgements of pics are based soley on whether or not I think they look cool or not - not whether or not I think they are appropriate or how I guess they fit into the storyline.

Cavill looks cool with a beard. That's pretty much my reaction :p

Cool. Now get him on a trawler and I'll be extatic. :yay:

I'm hoping the beard pictures aren't of Clark discovering himself so much as him investigating some story, perhaps as a freelance journalist.

With a real fake beard? I hope not...

Yeah, I know, but growing a beard for a single story seems unlikely, doesnt it?

EDIT: But Adams apparently is on location as well, so who knows.

Yeah I don't get why we're getting pics of Adams at that location... this movies plot is becoming increasingly difficult to figure out. Lois is in Smallville when Clark is at college, and now she's at an Alaskan fishing village while he's got a beard and no glasses... is she following him?

Hmmmmm.......

......could that be her?

About the beard.... paraphrasing Jonathan (Glenn Ford ) Kent......"it" is here for a *reason*. I don't know whose reason, or whatever the reason is... Maybe it's because... uh... I don't know."

^Thanks.....the article says it is the same location.
