No Doc. Satan does indeed exist. We have the Son of Satan after all. His best storyline was the issues leading up to Defenders 100. Even Mephisto allied himself with the big S himself.

He couldn't hurt Thor or Iron Man in the past. Zarathos that is. Plus being a demon / devil gives humans power over him.

He get souped up?

Really now? Well that's ridiculous. Sounds like Marvel was just trying to keep him down because he wasn't one of their cash cows. There's plenty of super powerful characters that aren't A-listers and it's about time Marvel recognizes that, I say. Hercules and Ghost Rider's a nice start. Now let's see Man-Thing start playing a prominent role in events.

Yeah. Check out this issue. Some nice stuff with Angel and Tigra too. It seems legit as far as power levels go. He gets some good stuff in on Iron Man and does some tricky stuff to hurt Thor. But as soon as Thor and Iron Man adjust to his attack style they pretty much just wave him off.

I can't help but wonder why he even needed capturing.

Wasn't Hellstrom's dad revealed to be Marduk something-or-other, a demon impersonating the real Satan? I'm not saying Satan doesn't exist, I'm just saying the "son of Satan" is technically misnamed, according to various bios I've read, most notably the Unofficial Appendix one.

His dad was apparantly all of the major devils. Sort of that "We are Legion" thing. That Marduk guy was just the semen holder I guess.

It seems that Marvel lost their balls and some Christian was prolly complaining so they just stopped using the reference to Satan.

Ghost Rider's Satan confuses me too. It seems Hellstrom's gone back to being the son of real, honest-to-someone-other-than-God Satan in his MAX mini-series, and Ghost Rider appears to be tied to Satan and Judeo-Christian angels rather than lesser demons like Zarathos now, but I can't recall ever seeing GR's Satan referred to as anything but Lucifer. So now I'm left wondering: different names for the same guy or different characters entirely? We've already seen plenty of Satan's other pseudonyms go to different characters, like Mephisto(pheles), Beelzeboul (or some variant on Beelzebub; not sure on the spelling), etc.

The sad part is you're right, all of the confusion can be attributed to Marvel's inconsistent support of the idea that their Satan = the Judeo-Christian devil for fear of being too controversial or whatever.

Mine as well go all the way with it and just say Mephisto has many names including Lucifer, and Satan.

But Mephisto's gotten his ass kicked before, which is fairly unbecoming of the lord and source of all evil in the universe.

Originally Marvel's position was that there was no Satan. Mephisto was Daimon's father and was also responsible for Ghost Rider. With all the retcons I doubt even Marvel can keep track of what their position on the subject is.

IT seems Mephisto was originally their Devil, but they changed that somewere along the line for whatever reason.

Either way, Ghost Rider has beaten various versions.

Why wouldn't he be one of the most powerful beings in the universe. He's a force, like death. You can't stop a force. Only slow it down.

Exactly, and very few have stopped GR, non have stopped completely as far as I am aware.

Devil even in Christian beliefs is not the source of evil he tempts you but its always up to free will. A good example of this is in the move the Prophecy where the angels come to earth looking for a human soul to lead them cause humans have the biggest capacity for evil.

If you're talking about demons, I always thought humans could always be the more evil beings, because they weren't created to be evil or good, just to find out for themselves, and they choose the selfish path anyway. Personally what I find interesting about human villains.

Well I do know that the Silver Surfer kicked Mephisto's ass.

Also, just on the verge of finishing Annihilation, and now have no doubt in my mind that Silver Surfer is the strongest/most powerful non cosmic being in the Marvel U.

So, if I'm understanding everybody correctly the unanimous conclusion is that the Sentry is the most powerful character in the MU. Whew, glad we got that figured out :D

HAHAAAAA no. :oldrazz::woot: He's damn close though. If we're going by earth based heroes then it's either Hulk or Ghost Rider. Their strength has no limits. As long as those two have the willpower there's nothing they're too weak for.

Haha well in continuity didnt Reed Richards create the universe or something? makes sense then that God would come from his testicles.

How long will his powers stay dormant? He seems like a plot device who suddenly gets power threatenning the whole universe or with no powers just being a little boy.
