The Smartest in the Marvel Universe?

I've seen the Strongest poll and I remembered I've also heard people debating this aspect as well so I thought I'd give it a poll too. What do the fans think? This is open to heroes & villains but I exclude "cosmic beings" since they're on a whole other level.

It's been stated more than once that the smartest human, without any brain enhancements, is either Victor von Doom or Reed Richards. I personally believe it to be Victor, but opinions differ on that.

Poll's up now. And it's kind of a big question whether Richards & Doom actually cross into superhuman territory or not. I just realized I left off the Mad Thinker(damn!) oh well, that's what the "other" choice is for.

Actually sometimes there are contradictions in the comics though. I remember on at least one occasion Bruce Banner was said to be the smartest human being, but your right that that get's said about Richards and Doom quite a lot as well. Hence the poll.

Doom can do anything Richards can do (better in robotics) and grasps the mystical. Doom is obviously the more intelligent of the two. These two are in a class of their own, however, far above the other meger intellects of the Earth.



...but if I were being honest.... I'd have voted for Thanos.

Kang has the most knowledge in the most fields. If you tested Kang's abilities against Reed's in 21st Century Earth, Kang would exceed Reed in every single area. I mean not only is he the only character to figure out how to instantaneously teleport his mind into a new body at the moment of death, he's also figured out how travel through time with NO divergences, and has created the biggest empire in the history of Marvel; bigger than The Skrull, Kree, and Sh'iar empires (in fact, in Kang's alternate reality, the Sh'iar is part of his empire.)

However, given that he is from the future it's hard to measure his actual intelligence (though he seems as smart as anyone we have met from the future.) So I give this fight to Reed.

Jennifer Walters and Matt Murdock have no place on this list... Other people who deserve to be on it include T'Challa, Hank McCoy, Peter Parker, Michael Morbius...I could name at least 100 people smarter than Walters or Murdoch.

Galactus should be on the poll

He is the oldest and smartest being in the universe.

Some of his most basic instruments baffle Reed and Doom.

But if you arent counting super cosmics then Thanos

I hate it when people mention Peter Parker in polls like this. He's a science whiz to be sure, but no more so than the really smart kid you remember from class. His only real accomplishment was the building the web shooter (an amazing feat, granted) but since then what has he really ever done that showed him to be even on par with Hank McCoy or Banner and the like?

Well I put them on there for a few reasons:

A. Smart isn't just in science fields, hence I mentioned them in the context of their legal minds

B. I already set the number of options to maximum and was running out of ideas at the end(although I came up with better ones as soon as I finished creating the poll ).

Where is High Evolutionary, Silver Surfer, Galactus, the Uni-Mind, the Supreme Intelligence, Adam Warlock, Mr Sinister....all abscent from a list which they pretty much dominate

For humans I'd have to say the High Evolutionary.

In the Multi-verse The-One-Above-All after all he is the one above all and has that name for a reason. He is the creator.

Peter Parker. Has the most potential, considering he doesn't have the resources of a Reed Richards or Doom. Richards considered mentoring Pete at one point, I wouldn't mind seeing that in the future.

Thanos. He's dominated just about everyone and not for the whole he's his own downfall stuff he'd rule the universe. In Annihilation he came up with the plan to trap Galactus just b/c he was bored.

The Living Tribunal is infinitely more intelligent and powerful than Galactus.

Galactus measures upto the Tribunal about as well as Captain America measures upto Galactus.
