Powers was superb!
Greg Pak states in the WWH #5 War Room interview that Sentry was using his full power.
So, all that "power of a million exploding suns" is really hyperbole.
Or Pak has no real grasp of what "power of a million exploding suns" really should do when fully in action.
I'm with the former.
Oh yeah, definately. I just wish he'd take the time to do more research with these characters instead of just reading their bios on Marvel.com and going from there.
HOw the HELL did Hulk whipped the floor with Sentry?????DEBATABLE!? IT'S UNDENIABLE!!!! YOU ARE IN DENIAL!!! SENTRY AND GALACTUS STALEMATED!! AND THEN HULK WIPED THE FLOOR WITH THE SENTRY!!!!!!
EVEN SAYING IT'S "DEBATABLE" IS A STEP FORWARD FOR YOU THOUGH!
Did you read WWH #5Nah, I think Greg knew what the power of a million exploding suns is and it is not Hyperbole.
GP: "Nine out of ten scientists agree that the power of a million exploding suns radiates better with the open palm attack."
Could be a joke.

Our sun -can't- go supernova. o.o

I read that too yesterday.
And the power of 1 exploding is sufficient enough not only to destroy a planet, but also neighbouring planets. If I remember my science right, if our sun went supernova, our solar system would pretty much be gone -- planets caught in the blast and the rest flung off into deeper space.
Sentry has the power of a million exploding suns. . . and yet, Earth is still intact?
Hyperbole, or Pak has no idea what destruction the power actually entails.
For once Gluons "Science" is correct.

Again we all know real world Science really has no barring on comics.
Well Sentry hasn't shown that type of power not even enough to destroy a planet! I guess it is hyperbole.
My science is always correct.
There, and in reality.
Unless you'd actually like to do something against the general curve, and provide some proof.

Only to a certain degree.
Indeed
Well your not ever going to have a fight just outright destroy Earth because of Bad Physics or so called Hyperbole statements. It's just common sense because if you did destroy Earth evereyone would die. It would be hard to continue the story. Like I said Real life Physics can't be considered for comics most of the time.
I've heard people say this but i think its the exact opposite. I never hear people saying Sentry is = to Galactus being hyperbole but if (which maybe you have maybe you havent) read some of the stuff with Sentry in it, you'll see he fights high powered people.
Beating Terrax like he did is a crazy feat as i believe Terrax even gave Thanos a struggle.
Though i havent read all of it, he fought The Collective in Avengers, he was BFR'd there. The collective owned Binary who could be low Herald lvl.
Genis who is crazy powerful could find no way to beat him even with CA. Also mentioned during the fight they were both holding back and throwing enough power to destory planets(iirc).
He fought and beat the Void who was owning a bunch of xmen/FF/Inhumans(including Blackbolt iirc) and i might have forgotten a few. (Not to mention he was able to KO Wolverine) The only negative fight he had was against Ironman when he wasnt beaten phyiscally but by another means. Really if theres any other negative info you can find let me know.![]()
But as far as it goes now, not even including the Galactus feat, that is an impressive list.
I'm with the it being a hyperbole. You don't need a comprehensive knowledge of physics, or even a base knowledge of it, to at least visualize what kind of basic collateral damage 1 million supernovas would do.
I've followed Sentry quite a bit since his original introduction. So I can follow who you're bringing up.
The 2005 (or 2004) Sentry miniseries. Terrax came to conquer Earth, Sentry showed up and destroyed his axe.
As well as re-empowered her cosmic powers temporarily.
In addition, the Collective couldn't fully utilize the powers it had. Michael was instinctively using one power after another as he went along.
New Thunderbolts. They were in the Microverse, however. I don't know how the Microverse relates with the universe, what's different and the same, etc.
Fight was pretty much inconclusive. Sentry was about to no longer hold back, Genis-Vell shunts him into the Microverse, this time between the molecules (or was it atoms) of a toilet.
Him being mindscrewed by the General. That kind of story is really complicated, since that was the NA arc that tried to bring the Sentry into full-time 616 continuity.
Well, if I were to discount his showing in WWH #5, Sentry's feats still don't really impress me. When you tout someone with the "power of a million exploding suns". . . well, hype is hype.
Let's say somehow he kept the energy of a mllion exploding suns in his hand and when he punched Hulk...that 'potential' energy was released towards the Hulk. Hulk would have been vaporized, end of story, the energy would keep moving forward, punching a hole through the Earth and out into space, punching holes in comets and other planets, and suns, for a million light years.

Gluon, the last time I did that..... you put me on ignore and left the hype for months. I wouldn't want to make you cry again. I know how fragile your mental state is, you have told us all enough.
The internet is serious business.
Sentry is all hype guys. The force he used was about equivalent to a good punch by Doctor Strange when he was possessed by that Demon. The fact that he 'released' all that Energy which converted Banner and him back to normal size...that means he didnt have that much energy to begin with. That power was equivalent (maybe less) than the power of that red laser 'death from above' sattelite that Tony Stark had.
Yeah and in comic book land you could channel the power of i million supernova's into "open-handed" punches like Pak suggested.
I bet you can.
Yep. Terrax got pwned.
Ah Understandable.
Yeah it was in a micro-verse, so that kind of kills the feat.
Yep.
Well, canon is canon and Sentry is suppose to have that power.
Again, stop using real life physics, it is a comic book.![]()
If somehow Sentry and Hulk depowering meant a release of energy...and lets say that energy wasn't explosive, it was just irradiated energy, the irradiated energy would envelope the Earth a million times over, burn the Earth over, and if anybody survived, they would die of radiation poisoning and the mutants would remutate into gobs of dead organic matter because their genes would be so screwed up.
--There was no logic behind this silly story. Just lots of hype, and it sucked me in like a black hole.
CBG said:And common sense would tell you that kind of power would literally destroy the planet. Pak, and other writers of Sentry for that matter, probably indulged too much in hyperbole. It's pretty much the character's tagline now.
Well, I don't know how the Microverse works, so I can't really say.
I'm trying to make sense of it. You don't need real life physics for this to have a basic visualization of what kind of destruction 1 million supernovas would do.
Your actually asking for a real feat showing the power of a million exploding suns? Yeah sure, why don't the Author make that happen for you, by killing off Earth and planets around it so important characters could die and the entire story comes to the end, right?
