No... what is does is bring back Spider-Man to his former glory years where nobody trusted him, and the police were always after him...

:yay:

I just had a random thought from your post, what if Slott is doing EXACTLY that? And once Spidey is in the "glory" years again Peter will become Spidey again somehow but be stuck in the mess Ock has created for Spidey's image.

it's just that never-ending "Parker luck"...

Aloha,
That's why Peter should not have felt bad when SpOck called for police back up.It wasn't a question of "Why didn't I think of that?"
Spidey rules

Yeah, and it will back to "Peter without job and money"-stuff, which hasn't been done to death. How exciting.. :whatever:

Okay, so Ock killed Massacre....we think.
It was off panel, so we won't know for sure until next issue. What if Ock, knowing about Massacre's detachment from emotions, wishes to perform a procedure on himself to rid himself of Parker's passed on emotions? This may be a way to rid himself of his forced altruism and rid himself of Peter's influence once and for all...which would force Peter's essence into a more secluded section of Ock sub-conscious.
Sorry. Random thought I had to share. I personally am hoping for the change back to the "no one should trust Spidey" status quo. I miss the "I can't just call the Avengers or the FF" days.

I'm pretty sure he killed him. They said that he "neutralized the shooter." That definitely means he killed him.

Probably. I just live by the old rule that, "If you don't see thebody, they're not dead". Still, showing a holy-headed Massacre wouldn't be keeping in the tone of this book.

Neutralized could simply mean that he's been contained and will no longer be a threat.

That said, the good doctor could have Massacre hidden away somewhere in that underwater hide-out... maybe to "play with his head" :wow:

:yay:

What do you guys think is going to happen between Ock and Pete in the upcoming issues? Clearly they're headed for a mental confrontation, and upcoming solicits have said that Peter is going to try and take his body back, as well as saying the ending will leave people "angrier than they were at the end of ASM 700".

I am stumped....the only thing i can predict is that Peter's consciousness gets completely submerged. I think Slott's "scheme" for lack of a better word was to hook readers by keeping Peter's consciousness around for the ride instead of killing him outright, and attempting to prove to readers that this could be a good book with Ock as Spidey.

As previously noted, there are a few "escape" clauses that have already been written in the stories... the most promising one is the Horizon labs "ghost-catcher"...

I think Ock wins in a battle with Peter... and we essentially see Peter "die" again... but this time seemingly more permanent; hence, the angry fans... but Peter's ghost will be trapped in that machine, and he'll find a way back to his body at some point, but in the meantime...

Doc's damage to Spidey's reputation will be done.

Mark Bagley variant for #5.

Proud to say I own this one and the Mike Deodato variant for #4.

I've only read the first issue and it didn't grab me. How has this series been? Is it worth reading even if I didn't like the idea of fake Spider-Man? Have there been hints of Pete returning yet?

Well I know that I'm definitely having a lot of fun with an arrogant ******* Spider-Man who actually gets stuff done.

It's worth checking out for sure. Unexpected fun dynamic w/ Ghost Peter floating around and his dialogue/thoughts with Ock Spidey.
Ock Spidey is kind of cool I'll admit. His inventions, his tweaks to the suit, his attitude.
There's been maybe minor hints (or just hope of mine) that Peter will come back. He obviously wants to come back, and we'll just have to see how this plays out.
I give it another year and a half or two.

Superior Spider-Man #6 just leaked and.... wow...

Chalk up another kill, maybe 2, to Spock's record.

They're still leaking this thing? How has Marvel not put a stop to this yet? It seems like clockwork on Mondays it ends up on 4chan or something. I thought LCS don't get new stuff until Tuesday during the day?

It's not just Marvel, he leaks stuff from DC too.

And no, LCS get new shipments on Monday. There isn't really anything Marvel or DC can do about it, whether or not they start shipping comics out a day later (Tuesday) it'd still get leaked early.

I'm pretty sure my LCS gets shipments Tuesdays, late afternoons. I think it's different just based on shipping and store logistics.

My LCS gets their on Tues afternoons as well. It used to be Wednesday morning up until a couple of years ago.

Yeah, I know mine used to get them at 9 on Wednesday mornings and have to have them shelved for the store to open at 10. I think it got to be too much, so they shifted the schedule to get them the day/night before.

Also I just wanted to mention that I did not hate Ramos' art on this issue, for the most part.

That's all I have to say until Wednesday, I'll talk more about it after everyone's read the issue.
