oh yeah, i've started to think lion=o saying whiskers is like dr sam becket saying 'oh boy' in quantum leap.

in ten years time, i can see family guy making a reference to it.

That whiskers **** gets on my nerves so damn bad lol

Is it just me, or did Leo and the other cats' wardrobe seem reminiscent of the plugsuits from Neon Genesis Evangelion?

i have a soft spot for it, if they keep it up, i'll allow it.

lion-o's voice actor needs to to a better job of it though i can admit, it's pretty emotionless most of the time.

quick comment, does anyone know what happens to all the other gems after the ancient battle, i don't understand why the cats don't have them still, or do you think they were equally distributed among the other animal nations.

mum-ra's transformation armour was awesome by the way.

I have a feeling that sinve there are 4 gems that all the Thundercats will use one in the big battle with Mum-Ra.

I've thoroughly been enjoying this reboot so far...been a while since I've watched a really good cartoon series that kids and adults like.

The crash seemed to separate the collected gems from the claw gauntlet. And they were scattered across third earth.

Favorite line from last episode:

"I am so dead . . . but at least I have a girlfriend."

Just got caught up on eps 5, 6 and 7. Really enjoyed all 3. It was especially good seeing them expand on the back story and go into the history of the Eye of Thunderra and stuff. Nice to see the inclusion of dogs, monkeys and vultures and even, sharks, although the elephtants seemed a bit random. Really liked the little sammophlange bit as well, that was a cool, little nod.

At first I thought it was a bit.. "higgeldy-piggeldy" with the series' portrayal of technology - one moment it seemed to be a myth then the next they're not shocked by it or know it's name and stuff. But it's starting to make sense... The cats had access to technology and when they crashed on Third Earth, they obviously had to start from scratch and that's why we see them at an almost medievil type society. It's pretty cool how it's starting to all fall into place.

My guess is that after they had crash landed they started to build settlements together but they soon started fighting over the stones until, finally, the species went their seperate ways. The lizards seem to have kept the tech, maybe the dogs, monkeys and vultures each took a stone and the lizards were left with the tech.

So, it seems to me, they have followed and then expanded upon the basic premise/idea from the original series, of the Cats and then the Mutants (lizards, jackals/dogs, monkeys and vultures) coming to Third Earth from another planet. I wonder if there is a point in the story where they come back and reveal what happens after the crash of the pyramid, if they show any native species on Third Earth. Presumably the fish characters from the Ramlak ep and the Petlars, among others not introduced yet, will be native but they had monkeys on Mumm-Ra's pyramid ship, so, presumably there won't be any native apes on Third Earth.

One thing I have noticed is there seems to be more variation in the Cat species than the other animals. There was a lot of generic looking background cats in the first episode but we have lions, tigers, panthers, cheeters, kittens.... Whereas the other species seem to all look fairly the same with no sort of characteristics or 'sub-species'. The lizards also have some differences. I guess this is mostly due to there not being any episodes that have focused on the other species as yet but I think it would be a bit of a flaw if it wasn't addressed in some capacity at some point... I mean, for example, when we finally meet Monkian, they wouldn't have to have lots of different monkey characters but they could show chimps, gorillas, orangutans within his army.

I'm sure the dogs will pop up again (dogs of war anyone?) as I'm sure most species will at some point but one thing I wonder regarding the dogs is if the race will encompass all Canis type family members ie dogs, wolves, jackals etc or if the dogs will simply be one race, seperate from the Jackals. It's just a little thought I had 'cos in the Legacy episode I'm sure I heard the dog slaves also reffered to as jackals..

i'm sure more species variations will come into play once we get into their own societies, i think they were just made generic because they were only there to show various animal races exists rather than various species

even so, evolution and all that rubbish would mean variations will start taking place when they arrive on third earth anywho.

Did anyone else notice Mon*Star of the Silverhawks appear on the monitors when Mum-Ra was talking where he got the other power stones from? Could be a hint or just a new Easter Egg for us fans? :)

I still don't get what the ancient spirits of evil have to do with anything in this show, maybe Mumm-Ra's expanded life?

perhaps they will work that in later on

even with all the backstory stuff we have gotten so far, we still have very limited information on his character.

I would presume they just had to leave it in there but maybe they have cleverly worked that aspect of it into his backstory.

or exactly how he would know about the book of omens since it was probably created after his encapsulation. i presume even in a mumified state, he still had some form of conciousness

Yep.

Well remember what Jaga said about the what the Book of Omens is, it's based on techno-magic or magictech, the fusion of the two. So think of it that Mum-Ra's powers are based on divine magic of shamanism type magic and he is able to the those types of magic with tech.

I totally agree with this, he did after all comunicated with Grune while still being in his "tomb".

The techno-magical thing needs to be really explained in this show, I mean in the old one it was all matter-of-fact, but this show (which I was somewhat enjoying until the last episode, which was just really good) just went "Chariots of the Gods" on me, the bar has been raised substantially, everything must be explained when the time comes.

The Book of Omen was the center piece of the ship main console wasn't it ?

About Mumm'Ra's powers it is pretty straightforward to me, he can tap into magic and technology. I don't need to know the hows.

i can't remember, does anyone have a screen cap?

i thought the book was made and provided by jaga's unit

I think it is or it is very close. I see the book as some sort of universal recording device, the knowledge of the universe made of both magic and tech ( V'ger with magic ).

In the Tower of Omens ep, Cheetara gave some informations about the book but its origin is not told, you only know it is old and that the cats priests had it and used it to record history.

It probably just easier to draw one type of dog in large crowd scenes.

When we get to different animal races kingdom's then the chances of different varieties are possible.

well that's what i said earlier, it's just an easy drawing tool

Not to overanalyze this show, but the lack of diversity among the races can also stem from selection bias. The cats are more diverse because they were the "master race" of sorts, and had more freedom to breed and choose professions (like space traveller). Whereas, the primates and dogs were essentially prisoners or slaves, and would have a much more restricted breeding structure, may have been subject to genocide, may have certain breeds chosen by the Cats specifically for planetary canary missions and even forcibly, selectively bred as humans sometimes did to slaves throughout history. Which would lead to lesser visible genetic diversity for the slave races. The reptiles could be more diverse because of their more chaotic genetic structure (not based on real biology, just supposition on my part).

Yeah, I know I'm thinking about this WAY too much, like this was Dune or something. :(

Sounds great to me. Enjoyed his voice acting since Batman Beyond

I about geeked out when I saw Mon-star on the monitor, maybe in season 2 we will see a Silverhawks team up/cameo. The stones ability to form armor over the person reminds me of Mon-star's transformation, maybe it is linked to him also. I was starting to get dull of this series but that last episode caught my interest, hope the next episode is good also.
