The Twelve

At least T. O. Morrow isn't just pronounced the same as "tomorrow." That's some creativity, I guess. "Claire Voyant" is a bad, bad pun. :o

Come on, if your last name was Voyant, would you not name your daughter Claire? I mean, you pretty much have to.

If my last name was Balls, I'd name my kid Blue.

I went to school with a kid who's last name was Hairs. His parents named him Richard. We called him Dick.

You're reaching...
Why does everyone say that when I throw opinions out? There's no factual basis for whether a pun is good or bad--it's subjective. T. O. Morrow's a bad pun, but not as bad as Claire Voyant to me. I'm not reaching for anything except a two-by-four to club the next person who says I'm "reaching" for no reason. :cmad:

Dude, you're reaching on that one. :o

No reason? There's a pretty good reason and here it is: They're all bad puns, you have to accept a bit of that. Claire Voyant, T. O. Morrow, etc. we could go down the list of names like this. To say one is fair but another isn't because it's not quite pronounced the same way is reaching. But that's just my opinion.

I knew about the Golden Age Black Widow, I am just amazed that JMS isn't changing her name. True, she had it first, but people will be confused. Even Alex Ross had the brains to change the name of the Golden Age Daredevil character to avoid confusion (and legal issues).

Her real name is a pun, but her codename is going to confuse people.

Sure, some characters have had the same name, but they usually are connected via origin or legacy or whatever, so it makes some sense.

I mean, she had the name first, but it's like if someone had the name Wolverine before Logan showed up in the 70's.

I can see why JMS picked these characters; they are relatively blank slates after generations of non-use, but it may have helped if he picked some of them with some recognizability. In Anubis' "How would you do it" Thread, I made a sort of team like this and I felt it looked a lot better. But, what would I know? I'm only an internet fanboy poster.

It'll only confuse idiots. That's why we have the stupid question thread.

So wait. Isn't the Black Widow in the Mighty Avengers? I thought this story was about Golden Age heroes. I'm so... CONFUSED!
